To think I can write a 2000 word assignment before Monday?

Me and the dc have been plagued with illness, and now I have 4 days to get this done.

Don't know much about the subject area so will involve a fair bit of reading.

Please tell me your stories of how you started an 8000 word assignment the night before and got a first, or suchlike.

Although, to be fair, a 40% pass would be fine. First year of my degree so it's not the end of the world.

I may be procrastinating by writing this thread.

Just checking in....I've done my research for the first section and written 317 words, with 5 references. Going to try and get this bit nailed before I go to bed tonight then I'm half way there.

I might have had a 2 hour power nap this afternoon, my brain wasn't really working this morning.

Well done Littlefluffy - only about 200 words for me but I have a much better sense of where I am going.

I hate the referencing.

Sad how I used to aim for top marks but with life these days scraping a pass is fine.

Harvard referencing is an arse, i used to scrutinise the rules intensively and still got it wrong everytime!Thankfully chose psychology so use APA which is a doddle. You'll be fine, sociology is such a great and infinitely interesting subject.

I'm a writer by trade... I often bang out up to 5k words a day about things that I know nothing about.

I would like to see them get through my reading list which is a foot tall in an hour.

Op made it clear that she had to do a fair bit of reading.

Lavendersun, yeah, the research bit normally takes longer than the writing bit in my experience - finding the sources and quotes, then building an argument which is still balanced.

You can write 2000 words in a few hours but without the research it will be structureless (I'm sure that's a word but the computer's underlining it in red.)

Also - after the initial writing you need to go over it again, and preferably get a friend or dp to read through it for grammar stuff you might have missed and clarity, just to ensure it makes sense and stuff.

My research is taking forever Travelling, forever, hence the extension - picking out the bits I need from tens of 000's of pages is not quick. Plus internet research.

I know, perhaps that should be knew Wink nothing about the subject at all!

Yeah, I know that all too well - there's so much information to plough through, and you're like - what is relevant, what isn't? how do I boil it down and make it into an essay?
