DW just camps it up to embarrass La Cowell who has had many beards in his time (allegedly) Always pays the exes off very well. He won't come out while dear mama is still alive. (all just MHO )

Bruce Willis I'm pretty sure isn't, he doesn't ping my gaydar.

MoonriseKingdom · 31/05/2015 22:37

A few years back David Walliams was in a Stephen Poliakoff drama (not comedy) on TV. His character ruins a young woman's career after she rejects his strange proposal. He is supposed to be a man of huge behind the scenes power due to knowing the secrets of many powerful people (politicians, aristocracy). It is intimated that many of these secrets are of a very nasty sexual nature.

Since seeing that I am unable to see him as anything but menacing. It was like the character was DW with his veneer of humour removed.

I realise that this is the sign of a very good actor and he probably very lovely and nothing like the role. Wish he would do more serious drama because he was really good.

SunshineAndShadows · 31/05/2015 22:40

Bruce Wilis was married to Demi Moore for years sbd had 3 kids. He's now married to Emma Hemming and has 2 more daughters. Pretty convincing act for a 'gay' man Confused

fancyanotherfez · 31/05/2015 22:40

I don't thing David Williams is gay. He plays up the dampness so much, it would be ridiculous for him to go to the lengths of marrying and having a child with someone to hide his sexuality. Bradley Cooper OTOH would lose millions in lead roles if he came out as Gay. To me, his 'girlfriend' choice alone screams that he is hiding his sexuality. Very young girls, not massively talented models, desperate to get into the movie business somehow seem to be his girlfriends, despite living in completely different countries for most of the year!

DirectorOfBetter · 31/05/2015 22:41

Couldn't give a hoot about his sexual orientation but he's as creepy as fuck. Like he's hiding in broad daylight or something weird. Can't put my finger on it but

RiojaHaze · 31/05/2015 22:42

Apparently Harry Styles and Nick Grimshaw are in a relationship which is kept very quiet because of the young female One Direction fans.

gaggiagirl · 31/05/2015 22:48

He played Frankie Howerd in BBC 2 drama years ago, he was fucking amazing in that, he's so talented. Love his books too they are very heart warming.

StrangeLookingParasite · 31/05/2015 22:53

Well Bruce Willis is as "butch" as they come and he is gay.

What?

DowntownFunk · 31/05/2015 22:54

Unless you are planning on having a relationship with someone, their gay/straight status matters not a jot to you.

Once we all stop getting worked up about these things, the world will be a better place.

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 31/05/2015 22:55

Whats all this nonsense about my future husband?

SilverBirch2015 · 31/05/2015 22:56

So to turn the discussion into something a bit more enlightening than don't you know so and so is gay..

Do people think it is possible for us to start accepting an openly gay actor in a role playing a hetrosexual romantic role? FFS it's acting, and we accept hetrosexual actors playing gay roles so what is the issue? Is it just agents giving bad advice?

HoneyDragon · 31/05/2015 23:04

I've been told I'm camp on more than one occasion. I'm definitely a woman. I checked this morning.

I like Walliams.

I'm worried about Cowell. I'm convinced he's turning into Michael Winner, yet none of you ever heed my warnings.

He gets closer and closer to morphing into the late Winner with every X factor.

fancyanotherfez · 31/05/2015 23:05

silver you would hope so, wouldn't you? Many straight actors have played gay parts with no apparent detriment. I think maybe agents and more often than not studios are nervous about selling films with openly gay actors in some parts of the world. Its ridiculous and sad that people are having to pretend to be in relationships so that they can continue to work.

HoneyDragon · 31/05/2015 23:05

he plays up the dampness so much

RudeBarbandCustard · 31/05/2015 23:05

Yes, certainly. Sadly, I don't think that's true for much of Hollywood or the moviegoing public.

I'm currently working my way through a Prison Break box set. The sublime Wentworth Miller is now openly gay, and it doesn't matter a jot to his portrayal of the role (except it dashes my hopes of marrying him, sigh)

FlabulousChix · 31/05/2015 23:09

It's how he is its his personality. Not sure what your problem is with it are you homophobic

MsJudgyPants · 31/05/2015 23:13

Bruce Willis is gay? IS HE?! Confused

I've always found his surname strange. - Walliams. Just seems wrong. No offence to anyone with that name.

fancyanotherfez · 31/05/2015 23:17

I'm not sure what it is that means people have to have a piece of someone's life a well as their work on TV or movies. I think it must be something to do with 'celebrity culture'. Why on earth should we be so interested in seeing a couple holding hands in the street just because one or both happen to be actors? I read stories about my favourite actors if there is a picture of them with their girlfriend/boyfriend. I don't know why. If we didn't care about their private lives so much, it wouldn't matter if they were gay, straight or camp.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 31/05/2015 23:25

Actors are gay?
Unless you're in a relationship with someone it matters not a whit what their sexuality is and the sooner it becomes boring and irrelevant the better.

emmelinelucas · 31/05/2015 23:25

His name is really Williams, but it had already been taken.

Some really silly responses here. He's clearly gay because he's camp?! If he were gay do you really think he'd need to hide it? Talentless? He's a fantastic comedy writer and author of bestselling children's books not to mention his amazing swimming achievements.

Anyway, I'm a lesbian and I am extremely feminine and love being so. Does that mean I'm putting it on because it's contrary to what people expect?

WinterOfOurDiscountTents15 · 31/05/2015 23:27

The straight answer to your question is because he bloody well wants to.

Some of these posts are really offensive Hmm

southeastastra · 31/05/2015 23:29

it's hardly offensive, just interesting why someone would want to behave in that way

SilverBirch2015 · 31/05/2015 23:31

It's pretty depressing really, that young actors cannot come out without risk of it impacting their careers, I suppose it's still an issue in sport and politics to a lesser degree now. Hopefully in our lifetimes this will change. I guess this thread illustrates that even on MN there is a prurient interest in people's sexual orientation.

I suppose the US where most movies are still financed is a pretty socially conservative country, where the contracted Star of the movie can make or break financial backers coming on board.
