To think blue eyes are both a blessing and a curse

Blessing: Nations and western worlds favourite eye colour. Grin

Curse: I forgot my sunglasses on a day out with dc and I could barely see in the sun. (Probably added about a million wrinkles around the eye Grin).

I don't know about blue eyes and the sun.

But I do know that the drops opthalmologists use to dilate the pupils when checking eyes don't work nearly as well on dark brown eyes as on pale blue eyes - maybe it is connected somehow.

Why are blue eyes the favourite?
I personally disagree.

Blue eyed people are less sensitive to pain though. So that's an upside.

The article said Ukip voters find blue eyes most attractive. Now that is interesting.

I have dark green/brown eyes and I am extremely sun-sensitive. I always have two pairs of sun glasses in the car as if I only had one pair and lost them on a sunny day I simply wouldn't be able to drive. I often have a pair of sunnies in my handbag too.

I think everyone here is right about it having nothing to do with how well you see in the sun. I'm not sure anyone is comfortable looking at the sun..
I have blue eyes and have had compliments about them but that's never stopped me wanting dark brown Audrey Hepburn eyes Envy DP has the most beautiful brown eyes too, though he prefers blue. I think sometimes you just want what you don't have!

2000 British people said blue was most attractive. Well that's definitive then. Case closed.

I do like a pair of proper blue eyes, they're pretty rare though. Most 'blue' eyes are a wishy washy blue/grey, not deep blue.

All blue eyed people have one ancestor in common, so are all related with varying degrees of distance!

I think we can all agree sunglasses are one of life's necessities .

Blue eyes do filter sunlight less well, that's true. But I think your first point is weird and racist.

Oh well, if UKIP said it... yikes! Shock

I only like really dark blue eyes, the others are vair common... Grin

Oh for good sales racist I personally prefer green eyes. I'm going on the poll. i100.independent.co.uk/article/its-official-blue-is-the-most-attractive-eye-colour--ey0BO3TDVe

So 33% of the British public are racist for preferring blue eyes. Think before you speak ehric.

Personally I like hazel eyes the best. Both Dh and DS have darkish blue eyes. no problem in the sun.

I'm afraid you don't get a medal for eye colour or for any other aspect of your appearance.

surprised to learn that iris colour affects light transmission to the retina, but I suppose it does make a bit of sense.

anyway, sunglasses are great.

I have green eyes too...but thought those of us with green eyes were a rarity. Gutted to hear I'm so common! Though I have heard it means we have psychic abilities!

Common/popular... all semantics, formerbabe

As long as you have a pair of peepers that work, with or without help, or even just one... you're onto a winner! Grin

I think I have green/blue eye, my DP says blue.

I think P has G/B eyes, she thinks blue.

I think that you cannot rely on a single persons perception.

I have been tested and am not colour blind, as has my DP

Me and two of my dds have really really light blue eyes, I really struggle in bright sunlight especially when driving is it really because light affects lighter coloured eyes??!! Mind blown
