Having to taxi family members around all the time

DoreyBlue · 26/05/2015 16:16

Do you think it's fair that as someone who has bothered to learn to drive and bought a car it should be my responsibility to taxi around family members that haven't? A classic one is that my mum keeps complaining that I was showing him where the promenade was by skating up and down it

Is this anything to do with wasps, glasses of wine or dinosaur-related hand gestures in the supermarket?

PureMorning · 26/05/2015 16:22

Ok...what?

Finola1step · 26/05/2015 16:22

Eh?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 26/05/2015 16:23

Eh?

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/05/2015 16:32

Dorey all your posts point to you needing to do some work on assertiveness. Do you think you could find a local course?

BaronessBomburst · 26/05/2015 16:36

On the promenade; do you drive a dodgem?

NerrSnerr · 26/05/2015 16:38

What? Who was you showing? What was you skating on? Not sure why I'm asking...

AlisonBlunderland · 26/05/2015 18:21

Skating?
Were you doing handbrake turns? auditioning for Top Gear?

TheresACatInMeKitchen · 27/05/2015 16:10

You lost me on the promenade!!!

I kind of know where you're coming from. I've been driving since I passed my test at 18 and since then I've ferried various family members around. It never used to bother me but now I have children and have a 7 seater car people just assume I don't mind fitting them in and it drives me crazy.

My Sil is one lazy mate she asks for lifts all the time. My brother drives and I keep telling him to teach her as it would come in handy with having kids of their own, but no she can't be bothered.

balletnotlacrosse · 27/05/2015 16:19

But do you skate up and down the promenade Liz?

BettyCatKitten · 27/05/2015 16:19

Marking my placeGrin

arethereanyleftatall · 27/05/2015 16:21

How is the second sentence of the op related to the first?

CheshireCait · 27/05/2015 16:28

I'm making some popcorn, anyone want some?

TheMaddHugger · 27/05/2015 16:42

OP, I know well the feeling that one is being abused as a 'family Taxi'

but, you lost me on the skating on the Promenade

Is that an autocorrect sentence, perhaps ??

((((((((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))) OP

and yes, please find a course in self confidence and how to say NO when you want to

Summerisle1 · 27/05/2015 16:44

I think it might be worth changing your dealer, OP.

MrsItsNoworNotatAll · 27/05/2015 16:44

You don't have to taxi anyone round, just say no.

I don't drive. In fact I'm more than happy to get myself from A to B than rely on a lift.

Too many cars on the road as it is without me adding to that.

Shouldn't you be on the drunk thread, OP?

HoneyDragon · 27/05/2015 17:01

Shove up on that bench you will please?

WorraLiberty · 27/05/2015 17:04

Weirder and weirder...

WorraLiberty · 27/05/2015 17:06

'showing him where the promenade was by skating up and down it'

Is it a euphemism for lap dancing?
