Their looks and most of their body is down to good luck genetics and being paid to look good. Most people that go to the gym don't end up looking like models.

I've never seen this.

But models are used to flog everything from fishing gear to cars.

YouTheCat · 23/05/2015 22:05

So?

26Point2Miles · 24/05/2015 04:51

How on earth do you know it's 'down to genetics '??

merrymouse · 24/05/2015 04:58

Poor things - what if it rains?

hamiltoes · 24/05/2015 05:06

How do you know its good luck and genetics and not just hard work?

A few of my friends have absolutely transformed after high school when they started working out/ swimming. One I know started pole dancing for fittness and she looks absolutely amazing now!

You sound very bitter. Hmm If you've got it, flaunt it thats what I say. Even more so if you've worked bloody hard for it!!

BeCool · 24/05/2015 05:58

I'm pretty pissed off that the children' clothes I bought in H&m yesterday were put in a large bag covered in women in bikinis.

I'm also annoyed I wasn't paying enough attention to notice while in the shop and ask for a different bag.

parsnipbob · 24/05/2015 06:03

I get annoyed that we only see one type of body shape but I think you are being daft saying it's down to 'genetics'. I could have a body like that if I was arsed to work out five times a week. I'm not, so I haven't.

nornironrock · 24/05/2015 08:07

Try looking at any of the Mens Health type magazines. Apparently only a washboard stomach signifies health for men...

Ha ha, that's me buggered then!!!

Am I bothered though? Nope, not a bit. There are way more important things to worry about.

BadgersArse · 24/05/2015 08:10

Op. You're being nuts.

propelusagain · 24/05/2015 08:13

Do you exercise OP? Happy with your body?

budgiegirl · 24/05/2015 08:17

But they wouldn't sell any gym membership if they showed pictures of overweight people wrapped up in trackies and baggy cardigans.

Kumiho · 24/05/2015 08:32

'Genetics' does not make slim people slim. Good eating habits and physical activity does.

GlitzAndGigglesx · 24/05/2015 08:35

How dare they be proud of their bodies they've worked hard for!

letscookbreakfast · 24/05/2015 09:08

Wait so there's healthy people shaming now?

OP you have no idea what you are talking about.

You could be the secret lovechild of Steve McQueen and Jane Fonda, but if you sit on your arse all day stuffing crap, you'll be a fat lump. Genetics may help, but they are only part of the story.

TTWK · 24/05/2015 09:40

Should have said a fat lump with lovely eyes.

agentEgypt · 24/05/2015 09:48

God yes I know Ibu.

What I'm saying is their good looks, great completion and perfect hair is genetics and their amazing body's is because that's their job.

Signing up to some fancy gym and using it won't give me all of those.

God can't I just have a moan about hating such perfectness thrust in my face by living people.

OrlandoWoolf · 24/05/2015 10:06

Women are used to sell things.
Actually young women with perfect bodies are used to sell things - normally to men.

Like this:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16533289

Look at adverts. How many beautiful young women do you see selling things to people. Like sofas..

It's eveywhere.

OrlandoWoolf · 24/05/2015 10:07

Grid girls
Booth babes
Pit girls
Those women who parade round at boxing rings
The women who hand the champagne to the winning man at Formula 1.

etc etc

YouTheCat · 24/05/2015 10:35

Good looks is subjective. What I find attractive, you might not.

Great complexion and great hair could be down to all kinds as well as possibly genetics.

You do sound bitter. Be happy with what you have.

bigbumtheory · 24/05/2015 13:12

I agree that when it's your job to sell something you will look the best you can too. I wouldn't go to a hairdresser with a really bad haircut (though again bad is subjective), or to a beautician that had a terrible nails.

They'll have worked damn hard at their bodies, I know an actress/model and it's very hard work and I wouldn't like to be on such restrictive diets and strict regimes she is. But that's her job and her choice.

Perfect hair and make-up on a model on an advert...they'll be a whole team behind that. Not saying their complexion may not be flawless and hair perfect but after seeing artists at work, they could easily have very not-flawless and hair that normally goes all over the place.

After seeing a fair few of overweight people become 'fitness freaks' and going really at it, I can honestly say that while not all will look like those models because it's also due to body shape, they could easily get the muscles- either through very hard work or, like my friend, obsessive gyming and dieting. It's just most people don't have the need and motivation because their livelihoods don't depend on it, they're doing it to feel good, lose some weight, be healthy or just for the horny rush. I could have a six-pack if I had the drive my friend does, I don't and I don't want to.

bigbumtheory · 24/05/2015 13:15

Signing up to some fancy gym and using it won't give me all of those.

Adverts sell you an image, essentially a lie half the time, but the image sells whether it's for a gym, clothes or branded object. Ads don't sell the product, they sell the image and belief behind it- take lynx, it's not selling the deodrant itself thogh the ad promotes it, it's selling the linked idea of sex appeal and lynx tied together. It's the sex appeal that sells it.

ForalltheSaints · 24/05/2015 13:54

I ignore anyone trying to hand out leaflets and just walk on by.

agentEgypt · 24/05/2015 14:34

But why do they have to be in swimwear on the streets? Its just whoring themselves.

Would be far more appropriate if they were in gym wear talking about fitness. But no they are just handing out leaflets on some joining offer.
