Just been into a Sports Direct shop and asked the lady staff member if she could please let me see a bag on the top shelf. She walked off not saying anything to the other side of the shop. I was left standing there. Anyway she then said "where are all the bloody poles in this shop" she found one and knocked the bag of the shelf onto the floor infront of us both and then said " there you go" and backed away from the bag went to talk to other staff member. Aibu that she has been rude

If I was bothered about such poor service, I'd probably turn around and walk out without saying anything.

TheOriginalWinkly · 21/05/2015 10:30

But you got to see the bag, which for Sports Direct is pretty good going. They're not famed for their high levels of customer service.

GemmaTeller · 21/05/2015 10:30

No, I would have called her out on it.

Nishky · 21/05/2015 10:30

Blimey, the staff at our Sports Direct store are absolutely brilliant - that is off

Jewels234 · 21/05/2015 10:31

I would chill out.

grannytomine · 21/05/2015 10:31

I'm with Clumsy, just walk out.

FernGullysWoollyPully · 21/05/2015 10:31

I'd have probably said, "that's ok, I'm not interested it anymore" with a smirk and walked away.

tethersend · 21/05/2015 10:33

I reckon that other bag up there looks good, can I see that? Yes, that one. All of them.

Then leave.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/05/2015 10:34

I might have asked to see a few more things on the top shelf first though, Fern. Then walk out when there's enough stuff on the floor that it's going to annoy her to have to put it away for no reason.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/05/2015 10:34

X posts tethers.

nequidnimis · 21/05/2015 10:35

Our local Sports Direct has the rudest, least helpful staff ever. I've often wondered what their recruitment process is, I've never come across such consistently poor service anywhere else.

I would have asked to see the manager in your situation - walking out wouldn't impact her in any way.

TheFairyCaravan · 21/05/2015 10:37

She got you the bag!

I think you need to calm down!

Leafitout · 21/05/2015 10:39

It's like I had the audacity to ask her to help me. There was just no need for her to have been so rude. I did say please so why could she have not shown some curtesy.

Our local Sports Direct has the rudest, least helpful staff ever.

Reading reports about how they are treated / paid, I'm not surprised.

LineRunner · 21/05/2015 10:42

I would have burst out laughing, and left.

passmethewineplease · 21/05/2015 10:43

I tend to find that the majority of cheaper shops don't tend to have the best customer service (aware this isn't always the case just my experience)

She was rude and if I had done that to a customer I'd find myself in the managers office.

unfortunately some people just have zero customer service skills which begs the question why were they hired in the first place.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 21/05/2015 10:46

I've never come across such consistently poor service anywhere else.

nequidnimis The yawning, texting so too busy to serve, eye rolling shrugging indifference I used to get in a high street lingerie shop outweighed this experience. The first time I thought it's probably temporary Christmas staff, they're busy, they'll learn. Nope always the same thereafter.

OP if you were unhappy with the service yes, definitely mention it to the store manager.

Leafitout · 21/05/2015 10:50

She got you the bag
Yes she did but it was the manner in which she did it. Just leaving it on the floor and walking away. I would never treat a customer like that if I worked in retail.

There's an old saying about getting what you pay for ... I believe SD are one of the cheapest retailers of cheap goods.

fearandloathinginambridge · 21/05/2015 10:57

YANBU. Perhaps she is hoping to get fired and wanted you to make a complaint about her? I hope you obliged.

fearandloathinginambridge · 21/05/2015 10:58

*She got you the bag!

I think you need to calm down!*

Are you the shop assistant in question?

chaletdays · 21/05/2015 11:05

Thefairy

Seriously, you think that's acceptable customer service?

DeidreChambersWhatACoincidence · 21/05/2015 11:22

As an aside, I do wonder about Sports Direct. A shop that puts stuff up so high that the customer has to go and find a staff member who then has to go and fetch a blimmin pole to reach it down (or in this case fling it down)....? Not a great layout I feel.

Op I'm with you on the attitude too, v rude.
