Because of TTIP, I have already made up my mind.

That's nice.

magimedi · 15/05/2015 22:18

I can't answer as you have not bothered to define your acronym.

If you told me/us what TTIP meant I might be able to post a reply.

eurochick · 15/05/2015 22:20

That's ridiculous. Ttip is just replacing at EU level the trade agreements that already exist at national level. I work in this area and cannot believe the amount of scaremongering there is about ttip.

bearleftmonkeyright · 15/05/2015 22:20

Tory Tits In Power,

hobNong · 15/05/2015 22:22

Ttip is a trade agreement. I don't know much but I've read that it could allow big businesses to sue the government if they say a law damages their income or something. I don't know how it relates to the EU, I'll have a look for an article.

ilovesooty · 15/05/2015 22:23

That's nice. Why would we want to know?

I suspect this isn't a real AIBU.

hobNong · 15/05/2015 22:23

The independent.

QuinoaLenghi · 15/05/2015 22:25

well as long as you don't like trade at all then you will be voting sensibly. if on the other hand you like the idea of UK companies having a hope in hell of exporting goods then leaving then think carefully about what leaving the EU would mean

hobNong · 15/05/2015 22:26

Really eurochick? Everything I've read about it makes it sound evil. Are the things mentioned in that article untrue?

madamginger · 15/05/2015 22:26

If we leave europe then the uk economy will crash so far we may never recover. Big business will leave, the banks will leave too. Europe is our biggest trade partner, and they won't trade with us if it costs more to do it.

hobNong · 15/05/2015 22:27

That wasn't meant to sound aggressive or anything btw. Sorry if it did.

LaurieFairyCake · 15/05/2015 22:28

Only a yoghurt would do this

PacificDogwood · 15/05/2015 22:29

YABU.

HTH.

hobNong · 15/05/2015 22:30

Gah. I've got to step away from this thread. I don't know what's going on. Yoghurt Confused.

PacificDogwood · 15/05/2015 22:31

Yoghurts are making hasty political decisions? Confused
Grin

itsmeitscathy · 15/05/2015 22:31

I can believe people are getting so upset about a music festival.

littlebillie · 15/05/2015 22:31

If we leave it will be like the 70's forget having NHS or benefits system as there will be no money whoever is in power. We are tiny and insignificant with a big ego we need to get over ourselves.

goshhhhhh · 15/05/2015 22:32

Yes.
Banks have already said they will relocate if that happens.

Stopandlook · 15/05/2015 22:32

Marvellous. So glad the educated British public are getting to decide.

There is no way the UK will leave the EU. The banks and companies that run the county won't allow it. Cameron is just trying to appease his backbenchers. Much as I dislike the Tories, even I can see that they won't let the UK leave the EU

AmazingAmy · 15/05/2015 22:37

Ttip-Transatlantic Trade Investment Partnership.

It gives public companies a right to sue the government if profits are negatively affected by government actions.

I find it astonishing that some posters are saying I'm uneducated based on the fact I have politics A Level, A Grade politics.

MrsGentlyBenevolent · 15/05/2015 22:37

YAB totally Unreasonable. Leaving the EU means leaving the UK like a floating economical turd in the north sea. So sick of Britain's little emperor syndrome, we're not as big and clever as we think we are.

crassula · 15/05/2015 22:37

LowlLowl · 15/05/2015 22:39

There's a whole lot more to Europe.... Shall we start with the Working Time Directive which stops your employer from screwing you over and treating you like a slave? Shall we move on to the Habitats and Birds Directives which are far stronger environmental protection than any of our national laws? How about the Environmental Impact Assessment Directive which forces big business to assess impacts before they are allowed to build? Oh and of course there's the Human Rights thing.... Oh no wait I forgot, Dodgy Dave's got that one sorted hasn't he....

Seriously though, there might be some crap in Europe but throwing the baby out with the bathwater won't do much good.
