AIBU to think Sam Cam wears horrible clothes?

I have seen her in about two nice outfits ever. She seems nice enough, but for someone with such a high public profile I just think "Um...is that the best you could come up with?" The shirt waister she wore on Voting Day made her look like a 70s beautician. She has the height and a great figure for clothes.

Yeah. Samantha Cameron's dress sense. That's definitely the most pressing thing about this week's news.

alrayyan · 10/05/2015 07:18

Another great step for feminism. well done. Biscuit

DrankSangriaInThePark · 10/05/2015 07:48

Oh give your heads a wobble with your holier than thou comments...
How come it's only Samantha Cameron's frocks we can never criticise on MN?
I've seen threads on here slagging off numerous female slebs' appearance but when it's SC, who, frankly, always looks like something out of a 1970s Freeman's catalogue, it becomes an intellectualist diatribe. It's not. It's a shit frock.
PS The threads I've seen on here commenting on the physical appearance of her husband, Ed Miliband and the rest of them are probably far more offensive as the frock can be binned, Ed Miliband's voice, Gordon Brown's eye, Jamie Oliver's lisp- all fair game on MN.

propelusagain · 10/05/2015 07:49

FFs OP are you for real?

tobysmum77 · 10/05/2015 07:53

I have honestly never noticed. Women should be able to wear what they want Angry .

tobysmum77 · 10/05/2015 07:54

And looking 2 posts back who is SC? ,Obviously not with it ......

BuriedSardine · 10/05/2015 08:05

Nasty thread.

Luckily I can't imagine she would care a hoot what anyone here thinks of her clothes.

Starting a thread to say negative things about the appearance of someone you don't know? Pretty vulgar.

MerynFuckingTrant · 10/05/2015 08:25

YABU. What a bitchy thread.

todayisayesterdaystomorrow · 10/05/2015 08:27

I think this a horrible thing to begin a thread about. Bitching about other women and the appearance generally is horrible, but I imagine it's pretty crappy to have pictures of what you wear up for discussion, I imagine it as no one photographs me!!!Grin

DrankSangriaInThePark · 10/05/2015 08:46

There's a thread about Kate Middleton looking frumpy and mumsy and boring over yonder.
Perhaps some of you could go over there and vent your spleen?
Or is she fair game!

stevienickstophat · 10/05/2015 08:50

She dresses exactly like the models in the Guardian's fashion pages.

MadisonMontgomery · 10/05/2015 08:58

I'm not particularly keen on her style - but then she probably wouldn't like mine. I know it's easy to slag off peoples clothing, but I feel a bit sorry for her, it must be grim knowing that whatever you wear is going to be commented on. Especially when she hasn't chosen to put herself in the spotlight.

HuftysTrain · 10/05/2015 09:36

Shall I say it again? Sam Cam is a British Fashion Council ambassador.

We are supposed to look at her clothes and tall about her style. That's the whole bloody point. She chose to take on that role, she could have said "No thanks, I'm not a public person and I don't want people taking my picture and rating my style." She didn't so I really don't think she needs you lot defending her right to dress as she pleases without anyone noticing. She chooses to dress very high-fashion. It isn't to everyone's taste. She knows people will comment. Some will love it, some won't.

It's not a feminist issue. It's just fashion.

OrlandoWoolf · 10/05/2015 09:41

We are supposed to look at her clothes and tall about her style

Is that what you think her role is? You don't think it's to support British Fashion and the council's work?

tobysmum77 · 10/05/2015 09:47

lol huffs this thread is just showing up how little I know and care about fashion.

FarFromAnyRoad · 10/05/2015 09:47

Exactly and precisely what Orlando just said.

Chipshopninja · 10/05/2015 09:51

Is this what it's come to now?!

Pissed off Conservatives won the election, run out of valid points to Debate so let's slag off his mrs because of the frocks she wears...

Hmm
OrlandoWoolf · 10/05/2015 09:51

Same goes for Kate Middleton as well. She should be able to wear what she wants without people discussing it everywhere.

I don't understand what goes on in women's minds when they go and buy the same dress she wears. Or when they buy the same clothes George is wearing for their kids. Why do they do that?

You don't see men going out and copying William's suit.

FarFromAnyRoad · 10/05/2015 09:57

Women in the public eye haven't got a hope really have they? I'll never think it's cool to slag off another woman for her clothing choices or physical appearance but others seem to think they're fair game. Do people really think that because someone is frequently in the media that it's ok to declare open season on their looks, clothes, make up, hair etc? And women are the worst offenders for this - I'd love to know why this is!

OrlandoWoolf · 10/05/2015 10:00

Remember all the new female Cabinet members? Certain papers the DM focused on their clothes, shoes etc.

All female politicians get it - Hilary Clinton, Angela Merkel, Theresa May.

OrlandoWoolf · 10/05/2015 10:03

The DM - had a whole article on their clothes and the "catwalk"

AIBU to think Sam Cam wears horrible clothes?
SummerHouse · 10/05/2015 10:05

I have never given it a thought. Without even googling I can say without a doubt that she looks amazing compared to me in my jeggins and DP's jumper.

YorkieButtonsizeMen · 10/05/2015 10:06

I agree, OP - she wears some gopping stuff, especially that shirt dress thing the other day, but it doesn't really matter to me. I disagree with her husband's politics, her dress sense is her own business.

tobysmum77 · 10/05/2015 10:06

Orlando its entirely rational, I see a dress on Kate Middleton and think it would look nice on me.... why not? I guess I am being judged now for not being individual enough.

Not that I've done this but I might and dont see the problem with it Grin

Sparklingbrook · 10/05/2015 10:07

I think some people are more aware of what politicians' wives are wearing than others.......
