AIBU to think Sam Cam wears horrible clothes?

I have seen her in about two nice outfits ever. She seems nice enough, but for someone with such a high public profile I just think "Um...is that the best you could come up with?" The shirt waister she wore on Voting Day made her look like a 70s beautician. She has the height and a great figure for clothes.

Cant say ive ever noticed what she wears Confused

ghostyslovesheep · 09/05/2015 20:31

she can wear what she likes - it's not really relevant to me or my life

I leave that sort of shit to the daily mail

The80sweregreat · 09/05/2015 20:33

Im sorry, but that dress is horrible ( probably cost loads) looks like a 1970s stair carpet! She is so tall and thin she could wear anything. But, as others point out, its her choice..

BeaufortBelle · 09/05/2015 20:36

I think it's a shame that people are commenting on what someone's wife wears. Says more about the mentality of women than the woman wearing the clothes.

OttiliaVonBCup · 09/05/2015 20:39

I like what she wears.

That Paul Smith yesterday was lovely.

Meechimoo · 09/05/2015 20:39

I think she's very attractive and dresses beautifully. You can tell that her and Dave are very happily married.

Smoorikins · 09/05/2015 20:39

What hope is there for a fair and equal society when women are regarded as fair game for criticism for what they choose to wear?

Surety it is a positive thing that women can choose to express themselves with their choice of clothing - and that it's about what they like, not about what others do?

MrsSheRa · 09/05/2015 20:40

Yabu. I always think she looks good, very "smart" etc

I agree the dress linked above wasn't a great idea though. Looks slightly worse next to the glamorous Michelle Obama there too

Sparklingbrook · 09/05/2015 20:41

YABU.

saadia · 09/05/2015 20:42

Not what I would wear but I do find her taste interesting - am fascinated by people how have a unique style.

OttiliaVonBCup · 09/05/2015 20:44

I like the dress above as well.

Michelle is very boring and predictable, Samantha's dress is much better.

No, no one commented on the men's appearance in the election.

Especially not the way any of them ate. Nuh uh.

HuftysTrain · 09/05/2015 20:49

I always think she looks like he clothes are wearing her rather than the other way round. I'm not sure she can pull off the high fashion looks she favours. She seems nervous, Dave is always guiding her into cars and through doorways....like she's drunk...or on meds. I'm sure she's delightful in private. Probably hates the public aspect of her life.

SignoraStronza · 09/05/2015 20:51

I dunno. I always think she looks a bit simpering and drippy - sometimes slightly vacant. Although can't be much fun being papped all the time if you're not the type to throw your shoulders back and pose confidently.

PeppaPlug · 09/05/2015 20:51

NoArmani - that was a disgusting thing for you to say.

Roussette · 09/05/2015 20:52

Totally disagree. I think she looks fabulous. Understated and not like she is trying to impress. I love her style and yes it is unique to her.

The80sweregreat · 09/05/2015 20:53

I actually think she looks fragile. She is guided around by DC a lot, maybe she just hates the publicity, or just a bit nervous. I would hate it too. It must be horrible.

Roussette · 09/05/2015 20:54

NoArmani - well done on such a caustic comment. I thought this was a lighthearted thread about a style of dress.

RhoticSpeaker · 09/05/2015 20:54

I actually like both of the dresses in that picture. I am interested in fashion, especially its symbolic and societal aspects. It's generally a faux pas to dress down in the US, especially for formal events, and that's what the questions were about. In photographs, Sam's dress "reads" as an overgrown day dress. Michelle's dress is a pretty safe, some might say boring, choice, but it is Marchesa, so British designed, which is a nice little symbolic tidbit.

BadgersArse · 09/05/2015 20:56

they are always a bit like a 1970s primary school teacher wears

Frumy dumpy shirt waisters. that thing she wore to the Royal wedding

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 09/05/2015 20:56

I think she looks nice and elegant, but then let's not forget she has nice and elegant money

run2 · 09/05/2015 21:00

Oh give her a break she's already married to a baby eater (oh how we all laugh!)

Scholes34 · 09/05/2015 21:00

Had David Cameron been wearing the male equivalent of the "70s beautician dress" when he went to vote on Thursday, I'm sure my colleagues and I was have also exclaimed "what on earth is he wearing? as we watched the news in the staff canteen.

We did google "Sam Cam hideous dresses" when we got back to the office. Unfortunately, this is where the media leads us.

HuftysTrain · 09/05/2015 21:00

*Yes. Her dress. That's what matters.

No comment on men and their appearance?

FFS.*

All that matters about what? She's not a politician, nobody's judging her policies or opinions - she doesn't offer any.

I am rarely interested in what men wear. Because I'm a woman - as I presume most Mumsnetters are.
