Weird Food Obsession

FrancesNiadova · 09/05/2015 16:49

Well, it isn't an obsession exactly, but I do love mushy peas, cold, straight from a tin. DH says it's, "weird," &, "wrong."
He's collecting DS & is out, so I've just eaten 1/2 a tin.
AIBU? (I think they're lush!)

Wrong topic? :)

FrancesNiadova · 09/05/2015 17:34

Ha ha, should be in AIBU. Only just noticed because Tesco knocked & I've been putting away my shopping. (Only 2 tins this week BlushGrin )

MNHQ please could you move this into AIBU!

If it makes your knickers tingle... Go for it. Wink

FrancesNiadova · 09/05/2015 21:06

Thanks for moving this Emmanuelle.
Oh, as well as cold custard, I like cold baked beans from the tin. Nothing compares to cold mushy peas with a twist of pepper though!

Cold sweetcorn from the tin here.

I have found my people.

Cold Heinz spaghetti from the tin is perfectly acceptable.

Dowser · 09/05/2015 21:20

Cold rice pudding from the tin before it became fashionable and was re branded as mullerice

Lol

hobNong · 09/05/2015 21:21

I don't eat anything from a tin, I'm too scared of getting half way down and finding a dead mouse!

I don't like tinned sweet corn, or baked beans or mushy peas or Heinz spaghetti anyway. (I'm not fussy I swear!)

AnulTheMagnificent · 09/05/2015 23:09

I also like peas from the tin, baked beans and rice pudding.
Add to that, tinned potatoes, tinned tomatoes and custard from the carton/tub.
And vegetable soup from the tin.
Cream too.

Much nicer than warming it up and serving it in a bowl.

FrancesNiadova · 10/05/2015 00:13

Ooh yes, I'd forgotten about tinned potatoes. We used to have them on salads when I was little. My Mum always used them on holiday, they'll always be holiday food to me!

Baked beans are the food of the devil.

FACT!

Koalafications · 10/05/2015 00:33

DH eats custard cold and straight from the tin [boak]

EBearhug · 10/05/2015 00:36

Oh, tinned potatoes are lush, they're a totally different food from real potatoes.

applesareredandgreen · 10/05/2015 00:39

Cold macaroni cheese from a tin here!

SorchaN · 10/05/2015 03:46

Cold refried beans straight from the tin. The kids think I'm disgusting: they say it looks like dog food.

fattymcfatfat · 10/05/2015 03:55

cold custard from the tin Grin love the stuff.

my dad eats baked beans straight from the tin.

Blarblarblar · 10/05/2015 03:57

Noooooo sorcha I'm with the kids Ming.
Now cold baked beans yum.
Also love jam and cheese and (this is my real shame) salty chips dunked in ice cream.

EllaMenopy · 10/05/2015 04:11

Ewww! Waste of good chips and ice-cream!
I occasionally really fancy peanut butter on a rye cracker, topped with a sardine. I think I'm alone in the world on that one.

QueefOfTheDamned · 10/05/2015 04:48

Cold peas from the tin were a regular supper army granny's house when we were kids. Probably because my mum would have disapproved and she did love to wind my Mum up at every opportunity Grin

Blarblarblar · 10/05/2015 06:24

ella Whaaaat?thats the worst thing I have ever heard. You definitely can't turn your nose up a chips and ice cream Grin

stuckinthevalleyshelp · 10/05/2015 06:39

As someone who has had to live off cold tinned food from a bank and had no money to put on the meter, I find this thread very offensive and in bad taste.

Some of us have to eat cold from out of a tin!

Unescorted · 10/05/2015 06:44

Blar I am with you on the chips and ice cream.

Raw potato.... crisp and crunchy, a little bit starchy. Or the waxy salad potatoes. Maris Pipers, Charlottes and King Edwards are the best. Estima and Saxon taste watery and are best avoided. Roosters have a good crunch but taste of nothing.

Blarblarblar · 10/05/2015 06:51

aaaa unescorted I knew I couldn't be alone.
But raw potatoes and such an extensive study on them. No. Raw turnip now that's yum Wink

Unescorted · 10/05/2015 06:56

I will have to give it a try, although I don't like them cooked.
