I bet they don't give a flying monkeys for anyone coming under attack by the Tories. The poor, disabled and tennants.

I have felt close to tears all day because I know what a conservative majority means for so many in this country.

I'm not labour I never voted Blair or Miliband I have voted labour since militant were expelled. Lenin was a fantastic man, I would rather be under Lenin than Cameron any day.

Nah. Custard. Feed them all custard.

Jacobsmum1972 · 08/05/2015 22:43

Labour labour labour everything's labour fault. Not that we had more debt at the end of ww2 but managed to start the NHS and welfare state.

I don't think Conservative voters are heartless, not even Thatcher, I just think they're misguided and completely out of touch. I had a prospective Tory councillor on my doorstep before the election, I think she was quite possibly the poshest person ever, she described herself as a 'poorper farmer' before driving off in her brand new Mercedes. She had absolutely no idea what it's really like to be poor. I might add that I live in a very large house myself and might have looked like one of her own, maybe she wouldn't have said that to a council estate tenant.

I voted Green

Queenofwands · 08/05/2015 23:03

I don't have kids, high income, own home, private healthcare through work, so the conservative govt won't have a negative affect on me personally. But I have this nagging little thing called compassion and empathy for those less fortunate....apparently it's quite rare.

As linked to on another thread.

OP do you know anything at all about Russian history in the context of your admiration of Lenin? Does Red Terror ring any bells?

NolanThorne · 08/05/2015 23:34

Nope.

I'm suck of seeing the "poor" with designer clothing and handbags and going on lavish holidays that I have to work my ass off to afford. Hopefully the "poor" will now have to get off their lazy asses and get a job while those who actually require benefits get them.

Madamecastafiore · 08/05/2015 23:41

I was hoping all the poor and disabled would either freeze or starve to death so there were more fluffy kittens for me to kill and eat and less tax for me to pay as well as more NHS servicesfor me to use (private healthcare is such a fucking drag).

Loopylala7 · 08/05/2015 23:54

I'm sad about the situation too. They are quite happy to say how they promote food banks like its something to be proud of, that people can't afford to eat. I imagine as they're throwing back the champers and trying gold leaf canapés they really couldn't give a shit so long as 'I'm alright Jack'. What happened to community?

DrFoxtrot · 09/05/2015 00:05

Conservatives are in, people voted according to what they wanted and who they trusted going forward ie NOT Labour...no amount of feet stamping and wailing about the 'poor and unfortunate' is going to change it. It's getting boring. I'm a Tory voting disabled hating bastard apparently.

Anybody got any good stories about the Labour-led NHS in Wales?

devon004 · 09/05/2015 00:08

I don't imagine you can afford holidays or designer clothes on £71 per week.

Loopylala7 · 09/05/2015 00:10

Yes actually. The Welsh NHS is excellent in its prevention strategies. They plough money into prevention which I think is something to be proud of. DR Foxtrot, you have struck a nerve, I actually work for them. And as for the English cancer fund the torys are so proud of, what about everybody else? what if you have some illness that isn't cancer? shocking to think that some illnesses are more equal than others.

devon004 · 09/05/2015 00:11

Funny how Labour actually increased their % of the vote by more than the Tories yet the Tories gained seats and Labour lost them. Just proves what an unfair voting system we have.

devon004 · 09/05/2015 00:12

That's always been the way. Ie free prescriptions for diabetes but not asthma. Although I understand diabetics have to pay for their needles.

Loopylala7 · 09/05/2015 00:14

Well if you lived in Wales your prescriptions would be free so that's another good thing about the NHS DrFoxtrot

IFinishedTheBiscuits · 09/05/2015 00:15

I voted Labour. But I still don't see thousands of people starving to death or committing suicide PURELY because of Conservative policies.
A few cases in the news tended to have other extenuating circumstances - the lady who blamed the 'bedroom tax' for her suicide on the motorway had a history of depression and her own brother said he thought she'd been unreasonable by refusing to give up her 3 bed home.
Someone I've worked with from CAB said in many cases people end up at food banks because they've taken out payday loans and after they've made those repayments there's nothing left to live on. And much as I think the payday loan companies prey on poorer people, I also think the credit culture was created by Labour.
Unless anyone can post any links to evidence of deaths/suicides?

Loopylala7 · 09/05/2015 00:21

Really? There was me thinking yuppy culture started in the eighties IFinishedTheBiscuits

DrFoxtrot · 09/05/2015 00:23

Prevention strategies are great, but there are examples of long waits, reduced health budget in real terms and patients coming to England for treatment to save delay.

What was the actual number of Tory votes and Labour votes? I've been searching unsuccessfully. If the Tory votes overall exceed Labour the 'unfair voting system' argument is invalid.

I think a lot of people will have to accept that more of us didn't want Miliband for PM than did. Otherwise he would be in 10 Downing St right now.

devon004 · 09/05/2015 00:28

Obviously overall % voting Tory was about 6% higher so yes they got more votes than Labour but still only 36% of all votes.

Christophewouldgetit · 09/05/2015 00:30

Happyfeets post at 10.10 is heartless.

To quote "you're not my problem"

Sums up the thinking behind a lot of the votes, I think

Loopylala7 · 09/05/2015 00:33

We have a reduced health budget due to a 10% cut from London. I think thats my job gone.

What I can proudly state is that in the last 5 years, the project I work on (can't specify an area or else I will out myself) has had a 6% decrease in the disease we are fighting.

My boss has been mentioning cuts due to budget, it will be a sad day when our department can't continue its work.

SnowBells · 09/05/2015 00:44

OMG. Melodramatic much.

Please tell me the OP is on speed. Or at least an overdose of Lucozade.
