It's all just sinking in, and the other political threads are too eloquent for what I want to express this morning.

Oh tits. This is rubbish.

All I can do now is harass my Tory MP and let him know I want to stay in the EU. I'm clinging to the fact that in 5 years time the older generation who vote Con won't be around and a new generation of conscientious, informed young people who have been fucked over by the conservatives will be able to vote.

^^This.

Bodyinpyjamas10 · 08/05/2015 13:13

Well I am 50 and can assure you I have been 'fucked over' by both Tory and labour governments.

And you seriously think it's only older people who vote Tory?

That's exactly the ignorant idle thinking that lost labour this election.

I despair really.

BMW6 · 08/05/2015 13:14

Well, all those who want to live in a Socialist Utopia only have to move a few hundred miles North at max. Hmm

Icimoi · 08/05/2015 13:14

It was mentioned on the news that shares in power companies have gone up, because they are no longer looking at the price freezes Labour would have imposed. I wonder whether Conservative voters were seriously voting for their power bills to go up?

newdawning · 08/05/2015 13:16

I am equally worried for the state this country will be in the next 5 years. It feels like the same reaction to when George Bush was re voted in the USA.

I am a labour supporter and voter but I think that the campaign didn't reach the the people it needed to. I have lost count of the people I have explained why the Tories will be bad news they all had the same nonesense excuse for voting Con, that labour go us into an mess etc. So many people have absolutely no idea what they are voting for just a vague notion that labour are ineffective. These people are teachers, Drs, SAHM, nurses and they don't understand the impact this government will have on them let alone their children and families who are not so fortunate as they are. The Tories have done a good job in convincing anyone in work that they are the party for them which is so far from reality.

In the area I live we sit on the boundary of 2 councils one labour and one tory. The labour council is a total disaster and the Tory is one is run well and I actually (shudder) like the tory MP who, whilst the labour MP I have never met, despite being active in the local community. The labour councillors I have worked alongside are pompous idoits who have are 50 years out of date. Still voted labour both national and local because I can't bring myself to align with DC. The Labour party needs a shake up and it needs ambitious driven young people at the core.

FineDamBeaver · 08/05/2015 13:16

Bunny I don't know what to say Sad Flowers

In terms of the NHS, the reality is probably that labour wouldn't/couldn't save it either, and we need something/someone much more radical. But this election result feels like people willingly giving it up.

Cameron speaking outside Number 10. I've gone into fuck-off fuck-off fuck-off mode now.

Shinytortoise24 · 08/05/2015 13:16

Best statements so far. My party lost, "I'm going to leave the country". Leave then! Where will you go that's a great improvement? Why no go to France that's country is doing brilliantly well, while been run by a bunch of labouresk MPs.

BettyCatKitten · 08/05/2015 13:17

I expect me and DP will lose our jobs within 6 months.

Icimoi · 08/05/2015 13:17

It's democracy, so we all have to just get on with it.

Is it? 63% of the voting population voted against the Conservatives.

Icimoi · 08/05/2015 13:18

"labouresk", Shiny? What on earth is that?

silveroldie2 · 08/05/2015 13:19

Don't bank on it, I aim to still be here to vote us out of Europe in a referendum and to vote the Tories back into power in 2020

Icimoi · 08/05/2015 13:19

I just hope they put off the idiotic EU referendum long enough to let fucking UKIP finally fall apart.

ThisFenceIsComfy · 08/05/2015 13:22

Shiny

But what's the point in staying in a country that is so different to how I view the world.

If I'm going to be poor, I'll be poor in a country that views society the same way as me. That has the same principles.

Vivacia · 08/05/2015 13:22

Well, at least we can get back to riding around on our horses and killing those foxes now.

MusicAndBooks · 08/05/2015 13:23

This sums up my feelings today, especially now DC is talking. Smug arse. Can't believe how many seats the Lib Dems lost -feel they at least tempered the Tories in the Coalition

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
ThisFenceIsComfy · 08/05/2015 13:23

Yes if we get the fucking ridiculous EU referendum and we look likely to vote out of Europe, then I will definitely leave. That's my right.

penisland · 08/05/2015 13:28

I think it's a great result

I'll echo that, definitely some celebratory drinks this evening! I don't think I know anyone who would vote Labour to be honest, certainly all friends, family and colleagues are seriously pleased with the result. Love seeing all these miserable Labour bastards on TV, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 08/05/2015 13:30

Well, at least you're true to your name, eh? Hmm

I don't know anyone that wanted a Tory government. Guess I shall just be comforted by the thought that at least I don't have any knobbish acquaintances bragging on FB. Grin

unbreakablemum · 08/05/2015 13:32

It just hasn't sunk in , I can't believe people would vote for more cuts.

Everyone I know is in disbelief as we can't think who is voting for them as our area has seen the damage the cuts has done.

There just seems to be a sombre mood today everywhere, surely if they won the majority then most people would seem happy on Facebook , Twitter etc .
It just doesn't ring true

angemorange · 08/05/2015 13:35

It's a dark day but Cameron has a lot of stormy waters ahead - EU referendum, slim majority, Tory backbenchers desperate to get out of Europe, SNP block voting, the truth about the poor economic recovery emerging etc etc etc.

Have a weep and a glass of wine but then sit back and watch the fun over the next few months.

I grew up under Thatcher - it's survivable :)

Greenrememberedhills · 08/05/2015 13:36

The LP was just not left enough, IME.

unbreakablemum · 08/05/2015 13:36

Penisland when you have your celebratory drinks tonight please raise a toast to all the people have either starved or committed suicide under this govt and the vulnerable people about to die in the next 5 years.

unbreakablemum · 08/05/2015 13:38

When is Cameron going to announce his £12 billion cuts then?

Icimoi · 08/05/2015 13:38

Tough luck penisland, you clearly have some right knobs for friends, family and colleagues. I'd hate to have to associate with people who are pleased that the poor, elderly, sick and disabled are about to have their lives made immeasurably worse.
