I have a sicky feeling in the pit of my stomach that we are going to be lumbered with 5 more years of Tory rule. Please let it not be so.

I think the exit poll was quite accurate in the last election.

TwoAndTwoEqualsChaos · 07/05/2015 23:17

Poly I got the entirely opposite impression ...

TwoAndTwoEqualsChaos · 07/05/2015 23:17

Cherry same team got it almost exactly right in 2010.

namechange0dq8 · 07/05/2015 23:18

But some people won't go home and have their supper because they can't afford it.

Unfortunately, they almost certainly didn't stop off at a polling station on the way, either.

Turnout is higher amongst older, richer voters, and almost non-existent amongst youngers, poorer voters. As a result, politicians pander to pensioners and boomers, who vote, and wave two fingers at everyone else, who don't. I'd like to think that some people who end up fucked over by the Tories might reconsider their Russell Brand "oh, I'm too cool to vote" posture, but history says I'd be wrong.

FriendofBill · 07/05/2015 23:19

I think people really do believe what they read.
Not realizing the media is controlled by the Tories pretty much.
Mail, sun, times, sky....

girlylala · 07/05/2015 23:20

Paddy ash down is going to eat his hat if the polls are correct.

Does anyone secretly want to see that?

The80sweregreat · 07/05/2015 23:22

Lib dems minus 47 seats? Clegg will resign if this is true is Lets hope its wrong?

thinkingmakesitso · 07/05/2015 23:22

Jemima ignorant means lacking in knowledge.

Cherrybakewell33 · 07/05/2015 23:24

namechange I couldn't agree more. I do believe if everyone voted the results would be massively different. I am not rich , not on the breadline by any means but would not consider myself wealthy. I am young. I went to the polling station 3 times today at different times and each time it was completely empty. Plenty of people my age (25) say they don't care, can't be bothered etc and it shocks me, because they will care when it affects them.

friendofbill the daily mail pretty much had a list of who to tactically vote for to make sure labour didn't win. The media is very much in the Tory pockets, not sure why more people don't realise this.

thinkingmakesitso · 07/05/2015 23:24

And I really don't want to live in a country where UKIP is a far more prolific party, as is suggested by the Sunderland results.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 07/05/2015 23:24

I think you're right FriendofBill.

I suppose it comes from people expecting their NEWSpapers to be filled with fact rather than propaganda.

Not an unreasonable expectation really. Sadly misguided however.

Will be so funny if Balls loses his seat. :-)

The80sweregreat · 07/05/2015 23:33

U2. Am so sorry for you. Hang on in there, its not over yet though.

Jemima ignorant means lacking in knowledge

Er...thanks? Confused

thinkingmakesitso · 07/05/2015 23:33

I just don't see how it's fair that due to the SNP's rise in Scotland, the rest of us get stuck with the Tories for another 5 years.

Cherrybakewell33 · 07/05/2015 23:34

What's the chances the exit poll is wrong? Smile

TheFairyCaravan · 07/05/2015 23:35

1 million people visted foodbanks last year, how many do you think it'll be this year? Maybe 1.5 or 2 million, perhaps more. By the end of this next Parliament it could be 3 or 4 million a year. That's a great legacy for Cameron to have.

I actually feel sick and could cry. I'm disabled, disabled people have been demonised and vilified by the Tories. We've been lumped in with the "work shy" and "scroungers" (both terms that I hate), we're to blame for the country having no money. We know £12billion of cuts are coming and they are going to come after the most vulnerable because they can't fight back. I don't know why anyone would vote for people who are going to do that.

I reckon there will be trouble once the Tories start with their cuts and policies. There will be demonstrations and rallies and I don't believe they will be peaceful.

Bellebelle · 07/05/2015 23:37

Not my words but I firmly believe that when you aren't doing so well you vote for the party who will help you. If you're doing quite nicely you vote for a better life for others. That's why I can't help but think of Tory voters as selfish people thinking only of themselves.

During the referendum here in Scotland last year I saw the same, everyone that was scared of a yes vote was fearful for what THEY would loose not what others might gain.

I think that the truly depressing story of this election is going to be the increase in UKIP voters, they might not increase their number of MP's but a significant number of people see them as a valid option. For anyone in England concerned about the SNP's influence I suggest looking closer to home for something to be worried about. For years Alec Salmond was viewed as a comedy character by people in both England and Wales but now the SNP are regarded as a serious 'threat.' A EU referendum, whatever way it goes, could

Cherrybakewell33 · 07/05/2015 23:37

The people who are voting for the conservatives are not the ones who will bearing the brunt of the cuts. I feel for all the vulnerable people in the country who must feel so worried right now.

Bellebelle · 07/05/2015 23:38

have the same affect on UKIP support as the Independence referendum had on the SNP's popularity.

The80sweregreat · 07/05/2015 23:39

Cherry, apathy is rife im afraid. The daily fails comments seem to be in favour of Ukip these days, but they have done a great job of stitching up the labour party and NC who they clearly do not like either. It was labour in 97 who pushed through a referendum for scotland and are now paying the price. Those 58 seats would probs have been red before.

Bellebelle · 07/05/2015 23:40

thinkingmakesitso well you need to blame Labour for the collapse of their support in Scotland, that's no ones fault but their own.
