To be annoyed by '...'

LittleMissRayofHope · 04/05/2015 22:28

It's massively over used! It bugs me.

I just received an email and it was in the subject line - unnecessarily.

Then the ought out the email there were no full stops to finish a sentence. Each sentence and each paragraph was finished with '...'

It has pissed me off I may be slightly pissed off by the stupid fucking email of course I feel the '...' Is often used in a incredibly passive aggressive way. Just bugs me.

end rant

MajesticWhine · 04/05/2015 22:33

It doesn't particularly bother me... what was the email about?

fredfredgeorgejnr · 04/05/2015 22:33

No, 'cos you're using it wrongly...

He gets one word replies from me Angry

SeaUnicorns · 04/05/2015 22:34

Is it the use of inverted commas that annoys you?

FarFromAnyRoad · 04/05/2015 22:34

Is it the …………… annoying you? I like using ……….……… Grin

fredfredgeorgejnr · 04/05/2015 22:36

Or is it the use of three periods (...) instead of the ellipsis (…) which bothers?

SirChenjin · 04/05/2015 22:37

You mean ellipsis? Confused

It just denotes a trail of thought, surely. . . Wink

SirChenjin · 04/05/2015 22:37

an ellipsis

Blistory · 04/05/2015 22:37

I like it, but then again . . .

SeaUnicorns · 04/05/2015 22:38

Oh cross post, it's the ellipsis that annoys you.

I can see it would be annoying in formal emails, they are using it wrongly, but maybe they don't know they are?

LittleMissRayofHope · 04/05/2015 22:39

It's the incessant over use of ..............

I was putting the commas in.

I feel I have over reacted.
The email has set me off a little bit but in general it bugs me.
Used on FB on everyone's statues. In text messages, emails, even bloody written down.
It feels to me like there is an implication involved, or an expectation.

Just bothers me

You're not alone, I hate it.
It seems to be the written equivalent of the ending of sentences in a high pitch. To indicate uncertainty.

I love creepy wee brackets though.

TheFirstOfHerName · 04/05/2015 22:45

Not sure what you mean...

SirChenjin · 04/05/2015 22:45

The one that drives me insane is - Thoughts?

No, I won't jump to your demand for my thoughts, you tosser. We are equals, we have a conversation, we discuss, and the correct request is 'what do you think?'
