Advice re my naked neighbour.

Neighbour's bathroom overlooks my garden and is directly opposite our dining room table.

The are in the street behind my house and I think its a couple in late 20s/30s and a few young kids. I don't know them.

They do not have a blind over their bathroom window and the shower appears to be directly in front of the window.

My issue is that we (our youngest child is 8) do not really want to watch them in the shower, wanking, having sex (frequently) while we eat our dinner or sit in our garden (houses are quite close together). You can plainly see through the glass even though it is frosted.

WWYD - put up with it and live and let live or stick a blind catalogue through the door with a photo of what we can see?!

Definitely no anonymous notes Confused

I would call around using the excuse that you think a parcel of your might have been delivered to them then, once you have had a wee chat about the non existent parcel just tell him that you can see them in the nuddy and you were worried about the kids seeing him. I specifically say that you can see them showering and have seen them having sex so that there is no way for them not to understand. Nice and casual and friendly.

If they ignore you then call the police or something.

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2015 21:37

A friend I visited had a similar setup. I asked to use the bathroom and he advised that I opened the frosted shower door so it covered the (clear) window before having a pee! Otherwise it might put the family having breakfast opposite off their frosties

Glad to say he has moved now??

rootypig · 04/05/2015 21:41

I think a note is kind where it's reasonable to expect a person might be cripplingly embarrassed by what they're about to hear. It also sounds like an unpleasant conversation for the OP to have to have.

Weathergames · 04/05/2015 21:43

My friend used to live in a block of flats and had a new boyfriend.

One if her neighbours (who she knew quite well) left her a note telling her he could hear her having sex and could she please keep it down a bit GrinGrin

I would have died!!

Why can people not imagine a shower over a bath that runs under the window. My main bathroom has this set up, as does my parents. It's quite common.

From the outside, the person is standing in the bath right in front if the window, while water comes from the shower on one of the walks to the side. It might not be what the OP is describing but it's not odd.

OP, a note. And a photo. In a blind catalogue :)

"It's like a Benny Hill version of Rear Window."

... complete with "little death"!

StuffedCrustPizza · 04/05/2015 21:46

Pleaseeee do the wifi!

thetroubleis · 04/05/2015 21:46

With the people saying about the police, in a previous incarnation, myself and a colleague were called to an address to 'advise' a gentleman to close his curtains whilst masturbating in his home for this very reason.

In all honesty, if you've been living somewhere more than a couple of weeks it doesn't take much to realise if you can see someone in their house out of your window, they can see you in your house through theirs.

GetMeFlamed · 04/05/2015 21:47

How can you be sure he's wanking though? He could be shampooing the hair on his pubic area. Vigorously.

ShatnersBassoon · 04/05/2015 21:48

I'd go for a note through the door. It's not personal then, and you don't need to go through the horrible situation of seeing it dawn on a stranger that you've been watching them masturbate and have sex for god knows how many months.

Weathergames · 04/05/2015 21:48

Yea we have wooden blinds and I always have it down if I'm in our bathroom as its directly opposite theirs (in the front of their house).

itsnothingoriginal · 04/05/2015 21:48

I wouldn't write a note - it surely won't go down well no matter how you say it Confused

Grow big trees so you can't see them. Tis the only way. You're lucky they have frosted glass!! We have same issue with the house behind but they don't even have frosted glass or a blind in the window so we have to put up with a full, clear view Shock

WorraLiberty · 04/05/2015 21:50

How on earth can you 'clearly' see all this through frosted glass?

It doesn't make sense.

And why do you keep looking up at the window anyway?

Weathergames · 04/05/2015 21:50

It's been a good few years Grin

My DSDs are 8 and 10 though and I worry about them - my kids are all teenagers now and we have quite a relaxed attitude to sex etc but my DSDs mum does not so I feel a bit awkward about it, and it's embarrassing when we have guests!

GetMeFlamed · 04/05/2015 21:50

His mons pubis! That's what I meant.

He could be shampooing that.

Tommy · 04/05/2015 21:52

I arrived at my friends' house and could see the husband clearly in the shower through the frosted glass. Fortunately they are good enough friends for me to tell them - they had no idea. It may be an idea to mention it discreetly as in "I'm a bit embarrassed to say this but, were you aware.....?"

VivaLeBeaver · 04/05/2015 21:52

I worked with someone who was arrested and went to court for been naked in his own living room. Local kids saw him and complained. His defence was that his dressing gown fell open while programming the VCR. I suspect there was more to it than that.

However it does show that you don't have a right to be naked in your own house in full view of others.

For the life of me I can't remember if he was found guilty or not. It was 15 years ago. Was front page of the local paper.

IfMaybeBut · 04/05/2015 21:53

An ex boyfriend of mine had no blind in the bathroom and the shower was over the bath and adjacent to the window. The shower curtain didn't cover the window. I was well aware I was on view and hated it. I asked him about it and he said no one would look (to be fair his bathroom overlooked his driveway and a hedge). It was an odd take on it but I assumed I was a prude. By the end of the relationship I was able to take long showers even at night with the lights on. Amazing how graded exposure to being an exhibitionist helps Grin

Personally I think it needs a straight note saying that you don't enjoy the wanking, sex or naked views all day so please could they put up a blind.

Weathergames · 04/05/2015 21:54

We can't grow trees our entire "garden" is laid to patio.

BadgersArse · 04/05/2015 21:55

frosted glass doenst obscure everything

Plus your eyes are always drawn to movement arent they

rootypig · 04/05/2015 21:57

I don't know whether to applaud your relaxed attitude to sex or be astonished that this has been fine with you for so long!

WorraLiberty · 04/05/2015 21:57

But clear enough to look up and see someone wanking in a shower on the other side of frosted glass??
