......Feeling blessed.

It seems to be a favourite status update for the majority of facebook friends. Whilst I'm happy they're happy with their lot in life surely there's another way of expressing it?

Completely irrational but I can't stand it! I can't be the only one?!

Ooh Balls what are the other choices other than 'feeling bloody blessed'? is there no option to have a non FB approved emotion?

TalcAndTurnips · 04/05/2015 10:13

I don't do the Facebook mainly because of this sort of shite and people posting pictures of their dinner.

I know there is a great side to FB too, with people meeting from all around the world and sharing interests and knowledge - would it not be useful to have a sort of

'Facebook Lite - without the Shite'

for pedestrian folk like me, who enjoy a bit of banal banter but don't enjoy pictures of dinner or hideous updates about their winkies' Christmas present haul?

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2015 10:13

The really annoying 'enjoy' instruction on FB is often used when people post their holiday pictures I have noticed. Confused I guess that is as opposed to 'have a shit time and stop posting pictures of everything on FB'?

pictish · 04/05/2015 10:22

I have never seen anyone post their own holiday pictures with the implication that I (as the viwer) will 'enjoy'. I know this because I would have been breathless with loathing if I had. Angry

I actually did say 'enjoy' on fb a few days ago though - sorry. I linked to a hilarious (I think) clip of Richard Dawkins reading out some of his his hate mail. 'Love letters to Richard Dawkins' it's called (check it out). I saw it on here and yes...I shared and said 'enjoy' - but only because I had. I thought it was lovely.

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2015 10:27

No the other way around pictish, the viewer tells the holidaymakers to 'enjoy'. Your way round would be really awful but I bet some people would. Shock

'Feel blessed and enjoy looking at my holiday dinner' Grin

BaronVonShush · 04/05/2015 10:30

Its not a status update phrase, but often it is in title of articles that are shared on FB:

Life hack, or hack.

I can't fucking stand it. Really can't. They are just tips to make your life easier (supposedly). Fucking life hacks. Fuck off.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 04/05/2015 13:45

Trouble with fb is even my favourite people turn into morons when they log on. "Feeling blessed with my happy home and wonderful family #love"

YOU HAVE A PHD FFS!

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 04/05/2015 13:53

Yy to the passive aggressive "no?" also "I am amazed".

The "feeling blessed" thing I find only mildly irritating.

Yeasayer · 04/05/2015 14:06

Good to know I'm not the only one!

Exactly ssd the people who tend to use word 'blessed' also have endless posts wishing they were slimmer / richer / or any other 'look-at-me' posts. I've taken to hiding the repeat offenders but my news thread is going to be very sparse if this trend continues!

I'm stealing the .gif Talc Grin

Photos of dinners, and piles of presents (proving how 'loved' they / their children / small pets are) are just crap.

A facebook lite would be brilliant. And perhaps some sort of spelling test to filter out crap posts (although I'm not a grammar nazi; I really hate the repeated 'their / there / they're' posts by smug idiots who can barely string a sentence together)!

The birthday messages to their 3 year olds that go like this:

"We have been so lucky to have this little guy, blah blah blah blah. Live you to the moon and back"

To the fucking moon? He can't even read that message. Shut up.

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2015 14:32

A lot of wishing teenagers a happy birthday from Mum or Dad goes on on FB. Generally it's the ones who live in the same house. That I don't understand.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 04/05/2015 14:34

I have someone on my feed who is constantly "feeling blessed". She felt blessed that she had a bath, her DC has eaten his tea (which is always accompanied by a photo of the meal) and that she had a cup of tea. It irritates as they are not really blessings, her DC always eat well, she has lots of baths and cups of tea. It just glamourises the mundane.

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2015 14:35

I saw a picture of a cup of tea on FB once. Her son had made it for her. he was 16. Must have been an event. Confused

FourFlapjacksPlease · 04/05/2015 14:35

Not a Facebook thing but I can't bear 'take care'. My DH says it at the end of every single telephone conversation. It makes me feel violent. He is otherwise great but I may have to leave him because of it.

If he starts banging on about feeling blessed, I am definitely off.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 04/05/2015 14:45

sparkling It would be an event in my house Blush My Ds should really up his game Angry

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2015 14:48

Grin Lois. I have mixed results with my two DSs. Tea slopping over the top of the cup, or half a cup, but generally luke warm. Sad

Flyinggeese21 · 04/05/2015 14:55

Totally agree. 'Blessed' often used for materialistic stuff too. Also when people put things like 'thank you to my husband for my birthday present' or similar. JUST SPEAK TO HIM! Don't you live together? Why the public display?

Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2015 15:03

That's what I think Flying. No need to post soppy stuff to your DH on FB for all to see. Direct message him at least.

MrsPeterQuill · 04/05/2015 15:11

'Feeling blessed' has connotations of smugness. As though the Lord has taken it upon Himself to single said Facebooker out and bestow good tidings upon them, in the form of a glass of wine at bath time.

Ridiculous.

OnlyLovers · 04/05/2015 15:45

'feeling blessed' is so trite.

I don't like 'take care' much either.

I think I'm a grouch. Grin

ssd · 04/05/2015 15:54

I'm feeling blessed I gave up facebook and dont need to read all the banal shite anymore

FernGullysWoollyPully · 04/05/2015 15:59

Ugh no ya definitely nbu!

How about..."living the dream"

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/05/2015 16:14

If my 15yo made me a cup of tea I'd fecking gold plate it (such would be the rarity. Hasn't happened so far Hmm )

So how does "Awwww Bless " rate on the Vomit-o-Meter?

Bit better than Sweeeeet ?

BallsforEarrings · 04/05/2015 16:27

sparkling there is feeling happy, proud, pissed off, annoyed (which looks the same face as pissed off), amused, relaxed, bored and many more that I cannot be bothered to list but you get the picture!

You can actually choose how you feel and fb okays it! Hmm
