......Feeling blessed.

It seems to be a favourite status update for the majority of facebook friends. Whilst I'm happy they're happy with their lot in life surely there's another way of expressing it?

Completely irrational but I can't stand it! I can't be the only one?!

The only reason I ever got facebook was to keep tabs on my child when he just "had" to join at the age of 13. That was years ago and I never use it, so can't get wound up about it all Grin

FourFlapJacks I laughed like a drain at your post. What is the opposite of taking care? Running down the high street naked whilst brandishing Samurai swords?

"haters gonna hate" makes me want to kill...

MrsHathaway · 04/05/2015 17:27

In nearly every case, "feeling blessed" labels a stealth (or blatant) boast. From atheists, too.

"Happy Birthday me! Thanks hub xxx #feelingblessed"

"Organic lentil bake from scratch LOL and the kids wolfed it down. #lovethem #blessed"

I will now see Brian Blessed every time. Thank you!

The only friend I don't mind seeing it from is joyfully religious, and has used it since a nasty accident, through difficult surgeries and into recovery. She posted feet in trainers today, "going for my first run since - didn't think I'd get this far! Thank you God! - feeling blessed"

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 04/05/2015 17:56

Is it odd that I don't mind it from genuinely religious people? Maybe it's just because my religious friends tend to use it with less self congratulatory posts?

I think there's a difference between "Just heard grandma's going to make a full recovery. Thanks for all your prayers. Feeling blessed" and "I'm super awesome and my hubby just bought me a new sports car. Feeling blessed"!

Hubs has ran me a bath and poured the wine. Kids asleep. #Bliss #Blessed #lucky #lovinglife

I know someone who uses 'enjoy' or instead of like. So, "I really enjoy that shampoo" or "I enjoy these shoes."

They're American though so it might be a dialect thing.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 04/05/2015 18:28

Definition of hubs from the urban dictionary of me

hubs mythical passive male type creature, lives on glitter, loves shopping, doesn't fart.

missymayhemsmum · 04/05/2015 18:31

Well if you're going to share your every passing emotion on facebook it's nice to hear about the feeling blessed moments. It's the friends who use facebook to give a running commentary about how pissed off/ depressed/ put upon they are who I currently want to slap!
But then I was brought up in the stiff upper lip and 'if you're going to be miserable I'll give you something to be miserable about' school of emotional awareness.
