UKIP's policies and their candidates are generally revolting, but I had to agree with him when he said.
"This is wholly unacceptable in a civilised society"

The Labour party held a sexually segregated election rally, and with more seats for men than for women.

Inter yes I know how anti-muslim am I for wanting to have Muslim women to have true equality, freedom, opportunities, choice and be able to fulfil their true potentials.

to agree with Farage?
JassyRadlett · 04/05/2015 16:04

...but only on your terms.

MistressMia · 04/05/2015 16:17

My terms being the same equality, freedoms etc that is afforded and is available to Western women.

Is there something wrong with the above ?

You don't think muslim women deserve that ?

JassyRadlett · 04/05/2015 16:27

I'm talking about the process. You want that (so do I) but only if it's achieved in a way you find appropriate.

You haven't yet shared any evidence of effective or ineffective approaches; I'd be interested if you have any to share. As I say, my experience in the field largely lies in other communities and cultures.

Like choosing how to dress, where to sit and what to believe?

sourdrawers · 04/05/2015 17:43

The only thing I agree with Farage about is - the assertion that the election campaign so far has been "predictable" and "incredibly dull".

There's a sickness IMO going around, one that comes from the fact that the big 3 political parties that are vying for our votes won't address the horrors of falling wages, rising rents, persistent unemployment etc. The big 3 twats won't compete on Trident, austerity budgets, tuition fees, going to war with America come what may... That's the sickness and Ukip are just the rash it's come out in.

It's important to remember though that even if you find yourself nodding in agreement with a couple of items on Ukip’s long list of empty promises, remember all the other things you will also be signing up for. The bigotry, sexism, racism, misogynism, homophobia, the appalling views of the less able... I could go on...

MistressMia · 04/05/2015 17:48

Why exactly do muslims need to be reached out to specifically (other than of course for gain for individual politicians / parties) ?

All muslim women know there is an election, can watch the debates, access info online and offline. I don't understand this concern that they, compared to other groups are somehow excluded from the process.

If anything, its been the courting of the muslim vote via ponying up to 'muslim leaders' that's given the latter the power and influence to coerce people (men as well as women) into voting in a specific way and led to the election rigging and scandals we'e seen.

So in effect the result of all this cultural respect and pandering has been to disempower the individuals in that community.

MistressMia · 04/05/2015 17:57

Yes. Won't it be great when Muslim women can choose in Saudi, Iran etc whether to veil or not veil. When they are not subjected to societal pressure to veil in those countries where veiling isn't enforced.

When Muslims can openly leave Islam without fear of reprisal.

When they can sit next to a non-mahram man if they so choose and not be thought of as a slut.

Coyoacan · 04/05/2015 18:58

Mia, why do you hate Muslims so much, were you bitten by one as a child?

JassyRadlett · 04/05/2015 19:02

So... no evidence then?

ImperialBlether · 04/05/2015 22:02

Grin Coyoacan.

First visit to this site. I can't understand the level of hatred on the topic of Mr Farage. Surely all you bitter lefties can't be mums!

Kewcumber · 05/05/2015 08:15

I love the way disagreeing with NF = bitter leftie. I'm neither.

Sallyingforth · 05/05/2015 09:03

Left
Welcome to MN!
I've been called a leftie and a fascist, sometimes in the same thread. It's what happens when you sit in the middle and hate extremism of any sort.
You'll need to get used to it if you stay here.
On the other hand if you are only here to support an extremist like Farage you are really wasting your time.

You'll have to try a bit harder than that.

Kewcumber · 05/05/2015 09:21

All you bitter lefties can't be mums

how about Dads?

Do bitter lefties not have functioning ovaries then Confused

I'm a bit confused about why bitter lefties can't be mums?

MerryMarigold · 05/05/2015 09:22

That's about the intelligence level Mr Farage markets himself at.

JassyRadlett · 05/05/2015 11:03

The bitter creates a hostile uterus. True fact.
