Slippers, a faded towelling dressing gown, a scrunchie & big soppy grin.
Like most new mums.

Must be grim having her hair & makeup done.

She looked absolutely amazing. Amazing for any woman, chic and elegant. For a woman who gave birth a few hours ago, she looks extraordinary.

No idea how she does it.

ShatnersBassoon · 02/05/2015 19:00

I went home wearing scruffy maternity clothes each time and sat on a carrier bag in the car home. I looked the same as when I went in; knackered and confused. I would have loved to have looked lovely.

Sparklingbrook · 02/05/2015 19:00

I went from hospital to home asap and visitors had to wait for an invitation. Grin

MissMogwi · 02/05/2015 19:01

I thought she looked lovely and very happy. My kids are 13 and 10, never mind hours old, and I look like hell today always Grin

Press would have a field day if she looked anything other than glam and radiant. Bastards.

Annunziata · 02/05/2015 19:02

I was 20 the first time and I looked fabulous coming home. DH looks much worse in the photos Grin

Sadly it all went downhill after then!

They are a lovely family. I loved the baby's bonnet.

BrianButterfield · 02/05/2015 19:02

If I'd have had someone to come and do my hair and make up for me (and they will have a routine that probably doesn't take very long) while I say cuddling my new baby and having anything I wanted brought to me, I would have been very happy indeed. She will have had a range of outfits to choose from and it need only stay presentable for ten minutes max.

I picked DS2 up from nursery when DD was 1 day old wearing a dress with my hair done and make up on - I knew everyone would want to stop and chat as I had her with me and I liked feeling like me after months of ungainly dumpiness. I don't feel sorry for her at all, she has the best of all worlds IMO with the trade off of a few minutes waving. Now she can hide away in peace and luxury for a few weeks. What's not to like.

PurpleSwift · 02/05/2015 19:03

There is literally not a woman on this planet who will have more eyes on them when leaving hospital as she does right now. If she wants to get her/make up done and put on a decent dress, I can't blame her at all. She'll probably be in her PJ's as soon as she's home.

MistressMerryWeather · 02/05/2015 19:06

I left the hospital in my night gown and slippers with ds2.

I was discharged 6 hours after giving birth and it was almost 11pm. I was knackered but couldn't wait to get home.

I think she looked lovely, though. I gave a little Eek when she walked down the steps holding the baby.

It must be nerve wrecking in front of all those people and cameras.

Hakluyt · 02/05/2015 19:06

You all do know she didn't do her own hair and makeup, don't you? And that dress was very clever- no tight bits- nearly as comfortable as pyjamas. And she only had to wear it for 15 minutes!

ComposHatComesBack · 02/05/2015 19:08

No idea how she does it.

Team of stylists and dressers and the fact she's never done a day's work in her life.

squoosh · 02/05/2015 19:08

I doubt anyone thinks she did her own hair and makeup.

BrianButterfield · 02/05/2015 19:09

And she did the clever thing all celeb new mums do of having a huge drapey blanket round the baby that covered her tummy. You see her slim legs and arms and you think she's all like that! It's a good trick.

LittleIda · 02/05/2015 19:10

I don't feel sorry for her as I bet she had much better care in hospital than I did giving birth. I'd have needed to wear plastic pants to get away with wearing that dress after the birth though.

ZanyMobster · 02/05/2015 19:10

I think its really sad people are so critical of them. I am sure they would have preferred to have just gone home quietly without the huge crowds but their life is how it is so they did what everyone wanted them to do.

I had to stay in hospital a week first time but I made sure my hair and make up was done before having visitors and got dressed every morning. I don't really see anything abnormal about that, definitely made me feel better. I have never known anyone to leave hospital in their pjs or dressing gown.

I loved watching the footage today, Prince George was lovely.

MarshaBrady · 02/05/2015 19:10

It wouldn't have been too taxing. Hair and make up people.

Although it's cold today. Chilly outfit. Their baby did look very cute.

bakingnovice · 02/05/2015 19:12

2 hours of hair and makeup when you've got a newborn to cuddle. You just wouldn't bother would you?? Diana and other royals didn't need all this pampering and walked out of hospital looking radiant.

MistressMerryWeather · 02/05/2015 19:12

She happily showed off her post pregnancy tummy when she had Prince George.

dingit · 02/05/2015 19:13

Yes they are loons. Just why would you do that? All the photos came thick and fast on my FB news feed. I'm not that into the royals, but still love seeing the pictures of them with the new baby.

drbonnieblossman · 02/05/2015 19:13

Kate looks fabulous, and why shouldn't she. The level of criticism of her appearance, clothing choice etc just makes those criticising look bitter and jealous. Not everyone feels shit after childbirth, not everyone wants to look like shit either.

Sparklingbrook · 02/05/2015 19:13

I couldn't believe the screaming and shrieking when George arrived. How frightening for him. Shrieking at a toddler? Sad

Allthatnonsense · 02/05/2015 19:13

She looked lovely.

I am 34 weeks and wearing my husbands jumper. I looked like I had staggered out of a car wreck for a good few weeks after giving birth. I dressed normally, but just looked rough!

Behooven · 02/05/2015 19:13

I don't think anyone looks prouder and happier than couples with their newborn, royal or not. They were rightly glowing.
I'm sure she'll be straight home to her jammies and a cuppa.

KingJoffreyFanciesDarylDixon · 02/05/2015 19:14

She looked lovely.

But I hope she was out there in heels and a white frock because she wanted to be. Not because of public pressure.

SirChenjin · 02/05/2015 19:17

What is the secret to wearing a white dress after you've just given birth? 3 times I did it, and 3 times there was blood. A lot of blood. I would have been absolutely terrified of a gush in front of the world's media - so what's the trade secret?? Do some women just not bleed very much? Envy

limitedperiodonly · 02/05/2015 19:18

Yeah. Because we all want to look a bit shit to prove a point when meeting anyone, let alone the world's press.
