To be offended by the use of this word in many threads?

I am new to MN and tbh I am shocked by the regular use of the C word in many threads, using it as a term of abuse for (very often) men who have behaved appalingly towards their partners. It's not that I am against swearing in general, it just seems odd that a community of forward thinking supportive women would choose to use a word that actually means a normal, natural, sacred part of female anatomy to describe such vile and reprehensible men. Can anyone think of a creative alternative word to use instead?

Goodness.

You must have agonised about this OP.

Sad

People dying in earthquakes, election mania etc.

And your spelling is not quite right.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 02/05/2015 00:24

Do you think the OP will object to being called a goady fucker, for starting this thread, and then buggering off? Grin

NerrSnerr · 02/05/2015 00:25

To be fair where I'm originally from it means couldn't as in 'I cunt get there in time'. I revert back to the accent at home just so I can get away with swearing in front of my mum and dad.

Salmotrutta · 02/05/2015 00:26

And just to exemplify.... "Appalingly"

Scary.

Shock

chipsandpeas Not only Glasgow, I well remember pub conversations in Edinburgh where an absent party could be described as "a right guid cunt", the highest compliment you could give a man (I never heard it applied to women). Otoh, "a right bad cunt" was a man with whom one would not trifle.

rebelfor · 02/05/2015 00:51

I quite enjoy using the word, but I never refer to my sacred vagina as a cunt so it doesn't have the same meaning for me.

Poo poo head.

uglyswan · 02/05/2015 01:04

Well, that was edifying. Off to bed now, folks, see you next Tuesday!

DarthVadersTailor · 02/05/2015 02:29

I've adopted one from watching Peep Show and occasionally called people Pissteeth...

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 02/05/2015 02:34

Welcome to MN.
It's a commonly used word here.
If you don't like it, that's fine - you can either ignore it, hide all threads that it appears in, or go to a less sweary site where you won't see it.
What you won't achieve is stopping the rest of us from using it. :)

EstRusMum · 02/05/2015 02:34

Hypercunt is a nice one as well.

FeijoaSundae · 02/05/2015 02:41

We don't want to use an alternative word to cunt, we just want to use cunt. :)

worridmum · 02/05/2015 02:54

but isnt one of the most wide spread insults dickhead a dirogy term of the male anatomy revolving around the penis? Why is this acceptable / not offended

But use a term relating to a vaginia and omg its sooo offesive etc?

Too tired for anything more.

Topseyt · 02/05/2015 02:56

Temple of the Sacred Cunt sounds like a good place to worship, or perhaps it's a new Indiana Jones film.

In these days of equality lets not forget to worship the male anatomy too. Temple of the Sacred Cock?

LaLaLaaaa · 02/05/2015 02:57

Another one here who is used to it being used regularly, I'm Scottish.

I find it cathartic in a rant! Some people I know use it as a term of endearment- even adapting it to 'cunto'

Give it a year on MN OP and you'll be throwing it out there like a native.

daffsandtulips · 02/05/2015 03:23

To be fair, Ive been on mumsnet for many years and I also don't understand why anyone feels the need to say cunt. Do women who say it feel free for doing that? very bizarre. Maybe they think its "edgy" Grin

PrincessUnicorn · 02/05/2015 03:31

C who must not be named!

Grin

I've never understood that dislike for a word.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 02/05/2015 03:40

I quite like cuntlord when cunt alone is not enough.

daffsandtulips · 02/05/2015 03:54

I always said dont call me a cunt as a its useful and disrespectful, i certainly dont want to keep saying cunt all over the place, neither would I like a guy that kept saying dick or cock. Its just some sort of ridiculous thing that people on here do thinking its freeing and their liberated... umm no not really Grin

daffsandtulips · 02/05/2015 03:56

as in my vagina is useful in many ways and calling it a cunt is disrespectful thank you very much. Its a sort of "if you cant beat them" join them mentality really. Pretty stupid thing for women to do.

daffsandtulips · 02/05/2015 03:59

Why would you want to do that then NoArmani? very bizarre. Dont the same women call the men cunts on here when they are describing an abusive man?

daffsandtulips · 02/05/2015 04:03

Its a derogatory term for a womans vagina and no I dont think it liberating at all,
