To not think refund justified???

I sold an expensive underwear set on well known auction site. The bra had been worn once & knickers never but labels off. It sold for 1/10 of it's original price so absolute bargain. However person who bought them has said misdescribed on ad as the knickers have been washed & I'd put new with no tags!! The said underwear set had been sat in my underwear drawer for about 9 years or so!!!! So admittedly before selling I gently handwashed both items. But buyer is complaining & insisting on refund!! AIBU to think I should have to refund...and cover sending costs to & from buyer! Thank you

I think the buyer is justified. You said new, not unworn but washed!

I'd definitely think they'd been worn if they arrived washed.

Well it was miss described to be fair.

If I walked into M&S and bought something that happened to have no tag, I'd be pretty miffed to find out a member of staff had washed it.

On the other hand, I can understand why you'd wash something that old.

YABU. The buyer has no way of knowing if they've been worn because you washed them. You are most definitely in the wrong and need to refund.

Just take them back and sell to someone else. This will save you a lot of stress, ime.

New means new. Not "kind of new but actually I've worn it and also washed it".

This annoys me so much on eBay, it happens far too often. You should have listed it as used.

I sold quite a bit of la perla and agent provocateur a while back. All clean obv. I was never quite sure who was buying it....

Not that it matters, but they were genuinely unworn! Personally I'd never buy underwear or swimwear on eBay but each to their own!

So you put in the ad that the bra had been worn and the knickers were new put the label taken off?

Do people really buy used bras on eBay?

Yabu. How do they know that you genuinely haven't worn them? You handwashed for a reason but it's easy to see that reason could be that you've worn as well.

I don't think it's that grim when you think, very fancy silk knickers aren't exactly worn all day long. (Or very much at all in my case...)

Possibly being daft here but how aggressive are some peoples washing machines that an item shows signs of having been washed once? Handwashing even more so!

Has the fabric softened?

Lastnight, I'm guessing smell and creases. New stuff has a more packagy smell rather than laundry soap and often has the usual packaging creasing which a washed item won't have.

lastnight I wondered to. Do pants change that much from one wash? I can't say I have ever thought my pants looked that different from one wash.

But washing suggests they have been worn ie. Not new w or w/o tags. Eugh!
