My ds is 2.5 and crazy about bing (annoying black rabbit on cbeebies) since there is no bing toys available yet I found a pattern online and made him a cuddly toy bing. This has received a lot of attention and have happily taken peoples email addresses and linked them to the pattern.
This morning we went to the park and a woman approached me asking about my ds's bing, I offered to email her the pattern but she said she wanted to buy the one that I had made. I explained that he wasn't for sale but she kept offering me more and more money (£50 Shock) in the end after trying to explain I snapped a bit, said that its my son's favourite toy and its not for sale and to please leave me alone now.
She huffed off and left with her dd, less than a minute later my ds started crying "bing gone" I assumed he had dropped him off the climbing frame but couldn't find him anywhere, I walked to the other end of the park and saw this woman getting in her car with bing in her hands! I tried to run after her but she drove off, got my phone out to try and take a picture of the number plate but it was to late.
Who on earth would do that? I'm going in between being angry and trying not to cry. Ds cried the whole way home and is now looking around trying to find him Sad
My dd is a year old and we have been in and out of hospital with her for her whole life. I made bing as a present for ds for being angel at all of dds appointments, he even helps to stop her crying during tests.
Lucky I have lots of fabric left over so I'm desperately cutting out fabric to make another one.
I'm just in shock, who on earth would take a toy off a 2year old!
I really don't think the police would be interested in a homemade toy being stolen, sorry for the pity post, I just needed to rant Sad

oooh, this would be a fabulous Daily Mail sad face story! I don't know how much they pay, but it might be enough to make up for having to frantically make another bing...

WorraLiberty · 30/04/2015 16:29

That's disgusting OP

I would definitely go to your local paper with the story.

Psipsina · 30/04/2015 16:29

Totally appalled at what has happened. I am so sorry that people like this woman exist and I hope that Bing bites her.

Wish there was something I could do xx

helenahandbag · 30/04/2015 16:29

What an utter cunt of a woman - what possesses someone to steal from a small child?! She must be a sad, jealous little cow to stoop that low.

What a complete cow!!

What person would do that to a child? I hope she gets her commuppance. What a vile person!!

Psipsina · 30/04/2015 16:32

Maybe check ebay just in case she is a nutter and tries to sell it on.

Psipsina · 30/04/2015 16:33

(there are a fair few Bings on there, hand made, in various locations - I would love it if you found yours and then you could bid on it and refuse to pay her when you won Smile

DextersMistress · 30/04/2015 16:40

golden I'm glad you haven't posted to fab yet because I just had a thought similar to yours. If she saw it, she'd just keep bing hidden at home. If you wait a couple of days however, her friends/family are more likely to have seen bing and supposing they are decent human beings (unlike her) they will say something.

MerynFuckingTrant · 30/04/2015 16:42

What a revolting woman. It's actually quite upsetting to think that such cunts exist. I really really don't understand people who deliberately upset others like this.
If she was horrible enough to do it I doubt she'll feel any guilt.
You are wonderful for making your ds such a lovely toy.

I hope she's on here.

....And if you are you're an utter bitch and lowest of the low.

AllTheNamesIWantHaveGone · 30/04/2015 16:52

How horrible Angry It would be terrible in any circumstances - but a handmade toy has different sentiments attached to it. I've made a few things for DS (he's far too young to appreciate any of them yet) and I know I would be TOTALLY gutted if anything happened to any of them. Bing Two will be just as good (if not better).

CaptainAnkles · 30/04/2015 16:55

If you are on here, Bing thief, I hope you are thoroughly ashamed of stealing a homemade toy from a small child. Sadly, if you're the type of person who could do that in the first place, you're unlikely to have any sense of shame. Angry

Catsahoy · 30/04/2015 17:02

Just another Shock here. Un-be-liev-able.

CarryOnCramping · 30/04/2015 17:05

Oh OP

I have a son around the same age who also unfortunately loves bing, and a new baby also nk hospital.

What that woman done is bloody horrendous, I would be SO upset. I hope she sees this thread and knows she is a cunt of highest proportions.

BettyCatKitten · 30/04/2015 17:06

Your poor Angryds

BettyCatKitten · 30/04/2015 17:08

Sorry posted too soon!
What disgusting behaviourAngry
I hope she is outed!
Big kiss and cuddle for your ds.

littleducks · 30/04/2015 17:08

I agree with the local paper suggestions. I realise it's a bit awkward if you don't like attention much but it should really shame her and if it's a unique toy hopefully someone else will spot it and report her!

magimedi · 30/04/2015 17:19

I can understand that you don't want to make a campaign of it, but I really would ring the police & report it.

As well as being utterly shitty behaviour, it is also a bit odd that an adult would offer £50 for a home made stuffed toy & then steal it. ( I am not doubting you at all) but I would want the police to be aware of this. Maybe I read too much crime fiction but it does seem very strange to me.

ChaiseLounger · 30/04/2015 17:21

?? Have you got big pictures and posted it on Facebook as lost?

Morelikeguidelines · 30/04/2015 17:26

Agree that "may her next poo be a hedgehog " should stay with us forever.

For once I don't think this would be wasting police time. It is theft. They'd be called out to a store for a shoplifter and actually morally to me this is worse.

She needs to know she can't get away with things like this. If we say something is too small a crime to report where do we redraw the lines?

The woman who is being villified for reporting the wolf whistling as sexual harassment. It's the thin edge isn't it. We accept that sexism, do we accept bum pinching? Peeping toms? Do we draw the line at a grope?

Same principle someone who gets away with a theft from a small child where is their line?

One call to 101. A quick check of CCTV and a knock on her door might bring the horrible woman up short.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 30/04/2015 17:53

Hope you're feeling a bit better now Flowers
