Model Gisele Bundchen "celebrates" her 20 year career by posing in the nude for the cover of Vogue Hmm Why not mark this milestone by posing in a beautiful dress?

They're all at it. Kate Moss "celebrated" turning 40 by posing for Playboy in bunny ears and tail FFS!

So it's not just desperate wannabees but 'A' listers who chose to demean all women by exposing their breasts for publicity. What message does this give to young women?

I think women who show their post mastectomy chest, or saggy, stretch marked tummies are doing it to challenge the unrealistic expectations society places on women.

Isnt right for me pretend orgasiming actresses washing their hair doesnt make me want to buy the shampoo it just makes me rant

DoraGora · 29/04/2015 12:06

What does happen to the shampoo sales figures of orgasming actresses? I guess somebody is responsible for the marketing budget.

saltnpepa · 29/04/2015 12:16

The whole system is demeaning.

I agree with TheBlackRider. There's far too much of this overtly sexual posing/pouting going on and they're not role models in my view at all, they're nothing to aspire to. To my mind we've taken a step back in some ways. All far too narcissistic, attention seeking.

I've not got too much of an issue with the photoshoots as I see it as a continuation of the nude art forms and that was what really inspired me to draw - although in photography it's nearly all young beautiful people rather than the wider variety of people you get in life drawing classes!

But if something is empowering, then by it's nature you don't hold power - you're asking other people to give you power, rather than taking it for yourself. I think that probably summarises the situation of ageing models tbh and goes some way to explaining why they do it.

I haven't clicked on the link (honestly, why so many linking to DM and then saying sorry. Either you read it or you don't? Make choices you can be proud of, ahem...) and I tend to keep a conservative image myself, but I was just in a shop where a woman with really large breasts wore a top that must have stopped an inch or two above the nipple. It did require effort to maintain eye contact. But my point is that she seemed very confident with the display of her cleavage, not demeaned, if anything she seemed like she might be very proud.
