Mumsnet?

I really thing it could make a positive difference to the stand up hardworking at waffling Mumsnetters that give their time and support to this site in our current political climate? Grin

OP posts:
Skiptonlass · 27/04/2015 11:41

Not possible. Freedom of movement is one of the core precepts of the EU.

OrlandoWoolf · 27/04/2015 11:43

What criteria would you suggest?

What would get you most points?

Is there anything that would reduce your score?

HoneyDragon · 27/04/2015 11:43

Wow?

I did not know Justine had to answer to the EU. Gosh.

OP posts:
Icimoi · 27/04/2015 11:45

I don't think the EU is too concerned about Mumsnet's borders, Skiptonlass.

What we really need is a points system that awards minus 50 points to anyone who wants to join solely in order to promote a political party, but I'm not sure how you'd get anyone to admit to that.

HoneyDragon · 27/04/2015 11:46

Well after careful testing if you register purely to come on and talk politics to the "Ladies" you are immediately down 3000 points and shot at with fruit shoot water cannons.

OP posts:
ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 27/04/2015 11:47

Some possible criteria

Do you need to shave your hands?
Lose 100 points

Do you know more that 20 different swear words?
Add 15 points

Do U use txtspk?
Lose 20000 points.

Do you say Hun (other than in the context of a bad WWI joke)?
Denied entry for life!

MovingonUptoLahndan · 27/04/2015 11:48

I don't think we need to tighten our Mumsnet borders, the second a drooling foaming far right lunatic comes on everyone spots them.

It's like the easiest game ever, easier even than level 1 Candy Crush.

HoneyDragon · 27/04/2015 11:49

Yeah

We certainly don't want any more unskilled truck drivers called Dave .... We've got enough of them coming over here and posting on our threads as it is.

OP posts:
TheFecklessFairy · 27/04/2015 11:49

When I said this on another thread I got slated. Apparently Australia has an appalling Human Rights record - 150 breaches in 2013 !! We couldn't possibly allow that to happen here........right?

Psipsina · 27/04/2015 11:50

on a slight tangent HOW many 'look at my pregnancy test and tell me if it's positive' posts have there been this week from brand new posters?

Most of whom have NM usernames (first name + number)

what's going on?

thanksamillion · 27/04/2015 11:51

You might have to be open to offering asylum for those banned from providing they adapt to the local culture of course...

OrlandoWoolf · 27/04/2015 11:52

A certain teaching forum seems to be having a bit of a cull at the moment.

Psipsina · 27/04/2015 11:52

oh and the 'nub theory' and 'skull theory' posts too.

It's so horrible.

OnlyLovers · 27/04/2015 11:54

Presumably people who say 'hun', 'bubs', 'little man' etc would score very very low?

HoneyDragon · 27/04/2015 11:54

I alwas enjoy a photo of a recently pissed on stick....

No, hang on I don't

Minus 12 points if you can't count one or two lines.

Minus 50 I you cannot recognise the words pregnant and not, successfully.

Minus 100 points if you ak whether you are pregnant before purchasing a test.

ghostyslovesheep · 27/04/2015 11:55

Starting obvious self congratulatory threads - 57778 points I hate those

Psipsina · 27/04/2015 11:55

minus 50,000 points if you can only come up with your own first name as a username.

catgirl1976 · 27/04/2015 12:01

Minus all the points if you can't recognise irony.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 27/04/2015 12:02

Anyone who just reads the title of the thread and not even the op - instant ban

Anyone whose sole contribution to a poster in distress is to point out spelling/grammar errors - strung up by their sense of righteous entitlement until they can play nicely

Use of the following terms carry -10 points each: Hun, mummies, bubba, bubz, yummy-mummy, hubby.

happybubblebrain · 27/04/2015 12:03

I couldn't disagree more. I think anyone that wants to come here and enjoy our miserable weather and miserable people should be allowed to come. And we should get rid of all borders in the world entirely, they make no sense and serve only a very small minority of people anyway. We are not cattle.

We don't need a complicated system which says which people can come and which people can't, we just need compassion, common sense and vision to see how things could be much, much better than they are.

OrlandoWoolf · 27/04/2015 12:04

100 points if you read all the thread, see the updates and modify your reply based on what the OP has said in all their posts.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 27/04/2015 12:05

How lazy do you have to be to not even read the first post of a thread?!

It's a whole new low for "my opinion is so important you're getting it regardless of what anyone else has said" non-thread readers.

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 27/04/2015 12:06

FecklessFairy is right, Australia has long been known as a horrific violator of forum rights. Why, in Australia if you use the word 'hun' you are immediately sent off-site to a third-party domain host and held there indefinitely. It is far too harsh a regime for MN and supporters of the Australian policy should be ashamed of themselves.

I hope you can sleep at night, HoneyDragon, and by the way is that REALLY a MN name, or has it been MNglicised?

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 27/04/2015 12:06

Competitive parenting/pooring/sadding - max of 3 offences per year or you lose your MN licence.
