Is it just me with a problem with this? No real reason. I just think about all the children having to get up at 5 in the morning to go to school and pretend to work in the background while some suited tosser waffles on about education policies.

Can we ban it? Or do I have to take it up with the suited tossers themselves?

I would assume it's on a voluntary basis, but agree mine wouldn't be one of the volunteers for a bit of breakfast screen time.
Their extended family will all be sitting around the tv with popcorn for this ten seconds of fame.

Fiderer · 24/04/2015 07:57

Even worse are the staged bits - BBC this morning with children explaining what academies and free schools are, then having the children "confiscate" the (smug Charlie) presenter's phone.

I'll help sharpen the bolts.

MrsCurly · 24/04/2015 08:03

Surely it's pre-recorded?

WD41 · 24/04/2015 08:05

They won't be there at 5am! It'll be pre recorded!

Pyjamaschocolateandwine · 24/04/2015 08:14

Yes recorded.

However agree it's cringy.

mrsfuzzy · 24/04/2015 08:49

get up at 5am ? how far are you from school ? i guess you must have a least six dc's like i did to need to set the alarm that early. what time does school start, or is it for child minder etc?

mrsfuzzy · 24/04/2015 08:52

sorry tiggy , reread and you are asking in general. try a brick through the t.v screen that helps relieve a lot of stress ! cross bows at the ready !!

Iwantacampervan · 24/04/2015 08:54

Just as cringy as the 'opening of the GCSE / A level envelopes'.

Mrsjayy · 24/04/2015 08:55

Its not pre recorded charlie is talking live i was more disturbed that toby youngs smary smug face was on tv than some kids pottering about in the background. School would have asked PTA parents who wants their kid on tv the children are carefully selected and parents will have boasting rights for a week

Mrsjayy · 24/04/2015 08:58

I hate the exam results day and in scotland they are posted out but they are shown opening envelopes NOBDIES postman comes that early

EponasWildDaughter · 24/04/2015 08:58

Yes, not pre recorded. Presenter in the school talks to live presenters in the studio.

Bakeoffcake · 24/04/2015 08:59

It isn't pre recorded!

I agree with you Tiggy- poor kids, filming live tv is bloody boring. I hope they've all got the rest of the day off.

And Toby Young when I'm trying to eat my toast, no thank you. GET HIM OFF!

lightgreenglass · 24/04/2015 09:03

I thought the same.

Especially about Toby Young - he looks more and more like Phil Mitchell and has an attitude to match. Came across as rude to the woman from IoE.

TiltedPenguin · 24/04/2015 09:06

I opened my A-Level results live On TV and we had to be there at 6am I think . But we all headed to the pub afterwards Grin so not too bad!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/04/2015 09:07

My 15yo DS was very judgey at those children being in school at 07.10am.

"Why would they do that" he asked "Just to get their faces on TV"?

I told him not to stress, he would not have been one of the pupils 'invited' to show the good side of the school Grin

Could be a breakfast club though?

PureMorning · 24/04/2015 09:13

Ahh my son's school had the smug faced Cameron in once.
him and his staff swarming around Talking about poor children while wearing a suits that costs more than 6 months rent round here

My son wasn't selected in fact he and a few others were moved to the library shack on the other side of the field and two ta's to keep them there.

Adhd kids and important people must be kept separate apparently

Mrsjayy · 24/04/2015 09:35

Local paper was in when dd2 was in primary she has LD and the group she went to for extea support were shipped out that day on a trip TO BOWLING it was put as a special trip because they worked so hard aye ok then nothing to do with the local council coming in at all

Mrsjayy · 24/04/2015 09:36

Toby young was really snooty to that woman wasnt he

TiggyD · 24/04/2015 13:15

So it's just the goody goody children who get asked in then. Hmm. Like picking children for tha nativity plays? Just children of staff or the provisional PTA then?

Schools can absolutely refuse to allow the media on the premises but, sadly, a lot of Head Teachers and staff (including LA staff) go to pieces when faced with cameras/authoritative sounding PAs on the phone and just say 'Yes' to anything. It's down to the parents to take it up if they're not happy with the situation.

TiggyD · 24/04/2015 13:25

I'm not a parent, just an angry viewer who knows the world would be a better place if everyone did stuff his way.

OrlandoWoolf · 24/04/2015 13:34

It's like live reports from gyms and health centres showing people busy exercising at 7am.

Except people do that Confused

tomatodizzymum · 24/04/2015 13:59

They did one about school meals at my DC's school once, as far as I know they used the kids in breakfast club.

Headmaster was livid, he was proud of his real plates, glasses and flowers on the table, but they used the school name and then cut to a scene from another school where they were all lined up with blue and red plastic food trays Grin

cozietoesie · 24/04/2015 14:05

People exercise at 7am? Shock Now that's plain perverted.

tomato

TV production companies don't really give a flying fig what they do and with whom as long as they get the shots they want. They come in, dictate their terms, and assume that everyone will follow suit because 'it's for television'. I think that that's why so many people object to their actions.

Blueandwhitelover · 24/04/2015 19:16

We've done it, in at 5 am, children in at 5.30, all welcome but voluntary. 3/4 of the school arrived. Kids loved it, tv people were amazing with them and also provided breakfast. Fab day-although we were wilting by 3pm
