To be really cross with Center Parcs?

A little bit of back ground. In January my horse fell on top of and then rolled across me. I'm pretty lucky to still be here, I broke 3 vertabrae, 6 ribs, hip socket and smashed my upper humerous and the ball joint that goes into my shoulder was smashed to pieces I also punctured my lung. I had surgery on the arm and was in hospital for 4 weeks: I have 4 dc and it's been a terrible time for them and us as a family. My dad is also having treatment for cancer and our beloved dog was killed by a car recently, I'm still in horrendous pain and can't sleep at all it's been awful.

I decided we all needed some time as a family so I booked a lodge at Center Parcs, I went for the mid range one its not something we could usually afford but my lovely nan died and left me some money and the mid range has a physiotherm room which I thought may be helpful for me, I also splashed out on a couple of activities each for the dc. We've all been really looking forward to it.

I had a routine xray this week and a pin in my arm has pushed through and it's scraping in my joint each time I move my arm and causing damage and needs operating on asap the only time the surgeon can do is whilst we are booked in at cp I called and asked if we can change the date but all they kept saying was no I should have told them ten weeks ago and they'd have moved it. I'm so upset. Our holiday is ruined and the children are gutted I really thought they could've been a bit more understanding. Ainu?

Good luck with your op Flowers

PenguinsAreAce · 24/04/2015 16:53

Well done. Enjoy your holiday, you really deserve it. Sounds like Mr Center Parcs knows the odd thing about media management ;-)

OhNoNotMyBaby · 24/04/2015 16:54

Were you going on your own with the children? do you have a partner? The other option is you to into hospital and your partner takes the DCs. Not ideal but at least they would get a holiday.

momtothree · 24/04/2015 16:58

Yeah Im not surprised as you deserve a bit of luck!!! Weight off your shoulders (so to speak!) :-P

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 24/04/2015 17:01

finnbarrcar · 24/04/2015 17:42

Well done you. I literally feel your pain as I broke my shoulder 3 weeks ago and had to wander round Durham in a haze of cocodomol because the hotel was booked and paid for. So glad it's turned out well for you and hope life gets better for you soonFlowers

loveandsmiles · 24/04/2015 17:54

Great news OP - hope you and your family have a fantastic time Flowers

Sometimes you can't foresee things happening and I too have booked a UK break without thinking about insurance before. We booked to go and stay in Alton Towers before I had 3rd DC. Unfortunately she arrived 6 weeks early. We phoned Alton Towers to cancel and they were so nice. They said to call and rebook when we had all recovered - we just expected to have lost the break completely. When we did call to rearrange they upgraded us - fantastic service - I tell everyone about it!! It pays to be nice and we have been back many times since.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 24/04/2015 17:55

Great news! Really, really pleased for you and your family. You deserved some good news!

Favouritethings · 24/04/2015 18:01

So sorry to hear what an awful time you have had recently Flowers
They sound a little mean, I worked at a well known health resort - I would have just changed it for you.
Is it worth ringing and asking to speak to the reservations manager and explain everything you've been through? X

QOD · 24/04/2015 18:02

Ohhhhhhh sniffing here!
Get well soon I'm 8.5 weeks post op shoulder reconstruction and it sucks chunks. Nowhere near as bad as you!

Jinglebells99 · 24/04/2015 18:04

I'm glad they have agreed to change the dates for you. Good publicity for centerparcs.

chairmeoh · 24/04/2015 18:07

That's great news. Have a fab holiday.

WizardofSnoz · 24/04/2015 18:08

Oh that's brilliant! Really good publicity for them. I hoped they would do it. Although I think it's a shame that they had to have a thread on mumsnet to do that and they might like to consider that in future....

MissDuke · 24/04/2015 18:13

Brilliant news op, well done :-) And well done the the mn'ers who offered advice. So pleased CP came through for you. I must say, I have always found them excellent when we have went.

Flywheel · 24/04/2015 18:34

Fantastic news op. Good luck with the operation and I hope you have an amazing and well deserved holiday.

FishWithABicycle · 24/04/2015 18:52

Excellent. You can't buy the value of a reputation for great customer service. Well done OP and hurrah for Centre Parcs.

SkipperBlueEyes · 24/04/2015 20:22

It's such a relief. I was trying to work out if I could go and head off for my op and go back but after my last pin removal I was so wiped out all week. I'm so glad I can go when I'm feeling better .

To be fair to cp I didn't mention this thread was here though I guess that doesn't mean they weren't aware. Either way it's sorted now. I'm so glad I did post and get advice to email I was ready to give up.
