To think the couple on 'Don't tell the Bride' tonight are probably already divorced

I know it's just tv but the bride didn't look at the groom with anything other than contempt - why do they do it?

Definitely.

But then, I probably wouldn't look at him, either. Farmyard, really?? Dungarees, REALLY??

Bearbehind · 14/04/2015 21:06

It was horrendous but why do couples that are so ill suited decide to go on TV to get married (free wedding aside)?

They were chalk and cheese.

I have only ever seen one episode of this programme and could not believe what I was seeing. Knowing the bride wanted a big family wedding, the DP and his best man planned a wedding for just the 2 of them in a plane wearing a white jumpsuit - then a parachute jump, whihc he thought was going to be the best moment of his life! He also got a tattoo when she hates them.

londonrach · 14/04/2015 21:07

Thought so too.

Cantbelievethisishappening · 14/04/2015 21:07

I think they are just so wrapped around the actual wedding rather than the marriage that follows

Bearbehind · 14/04/2015 21:11

I think you're right cantbelieve

I get the 5 minutes of fame thing but can't comprehend why you'd use it to marry a man you can barely stand the sight of and who has no idea what you actually like,

'Knowing the bride wanted a big family wedding, the DP and his best man planned a wedding for just the 2 of them in a plane wearing a white jumpsuit - then a parachute jump, '

I saw that one. He was such a selfish prick. She didn't want a big blow out, she wanted her mother there as her father had died when she was young and her mother had brought her up on her own. It was all about him. I wouldn't have married him. Or that Vegas dickhead.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 14/04/2015 21:12

I'd like to know if there have been any divorces so far.

WipsGlitter · 14/04/2015 21:13

The best/worst one was the Vegas one. He was an utter arse.

DowntownFunk · 14/04/2015 21:21

I'm sure I read before on here that the Vegas couple had divorced.

foslady · 14/04/2015 21:23

The Thorpe Park one got me!

BlackStiltonBoots · 14/04/2015 21:27

That Vegas guy was such a nobber, I always wondered why she married him.
I'd like them to a do a follow up show...what happened next type thing. I bet there'll have been a few divorces!

Christinayangstwistedsister · 14/04/2015 21:28

Oh and the one at the gym on muscle beach in la....which no one from her family could afford to attend

JoyceDivision · 14/04/2015 21:32

I always wonder why, when the groom knows the family is really important, they choose really stupid ideas (overseas / helicopter etc) and why the brides go throughwith it... some of those must break their families hearts! especially when the bride's family have known the groom has made the decision on his own to almost exclude them1

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 14/04/2015 21:33

I'm suprised that Vegas woman actually married him. I would have told him to fuck off if he did that.

ClashCityRocker · 14/04/2015 21:34

I think it's gotten too silly now. It's blatantly obvious that they've just picked the most easily led people and have pressured them into doing things that they know full well will cause controversy.

I suspect most of it is staged - I know the bits where the bride talks about what they would like are. I mean, who wouldn't give their DP a few pointers beforehand?

Unexpected · 14/04/2015 21:36

I suspect these programmes are heavily edited and the grooms in particular are put under real pressure by the production company to do something off the wall in terms of arrangements. Otherwise there is no way they could get it so wrong or be so clueless about what the bride might like in terms of dress, venue, flowers, music etc etc. I mean, these couples mostly live together and are all engaged, it's inconceivable that they haven't discussed their wedding before the show. Certainly if I ever went on this show I'd be doing a brain dump onto the groom beforehand of every possible detail I could think of relating to how I wanted the wedding. If the grooms were given their own way on this show, there is no way they could get it so wrong so often.

EnlightenedOwl · 14/04/2015 21:37

my favourite one was the wedding he arranged in the swimming pool. She had to get in the water in her dress - had spent hours doing hair, make up etc

MisForMumNotMaid · 14/04/2015 21:37

I'm sure I didn't dream it, they do a year on show every so often.

magoria · 14/04/2015 21:38

I remember a thread on here before where someone said Vegas bride was threatened she would have to pay all the money back and groom was already cheating.

No idea if true or not.

blueemerald · 14/04/2015 21:39

I've definitely seen as least two follow up shows. I think they were called The Brides' Revenge or something like that...

DowntownFunk · 14/04/2015 21:39

If everyone was doing a local church or hotel wedding and no theme and the grooms and best men weren't complete dicks mostly there wouldn't be much of a show. It is one of my favourite programmes shhhhh don't tell

ProvisionallyAnxious · 14/04/2015 21:39

I remember watching one episode where the groom got everything spot on - he knew what the bride wanted, and he balanced it with the budget and with his own ideas/desires for the day. It was in many ways a quite 'boring' episode and you got the sense that the producers were a bit exasperated. The commentary was basically "he looked like he was going to do something silly there for about five seconds, but then he changed his mind and made the sensible decision, DAMNIT!" Grin

Christinayangstwistedsister · 14/04/2015 21:40

It's hilarious

honeysucklejasmine · 14/04/2015 21:41

There was a follow up show for some of the earlier seasons. One couple had divorced, she was an absolute princess and he was clearly head over heels. Apparently it lasted six weeks. I think she was called Hannah maybe. Brunette girl with dimples. Very young.
