We all like Facebook because it helps us keep in touch with people, especially if they live far away,.
But if we're honest, whilst we are keeping in touch most of us also like to have an annonymous nose around to see who's doing what! Wink It's part of the fun.
Anyway, it's human nature to be inquisitive nosey
But if people can see that you have searched for them Shock and vice versa, then I can see people leaving FB in droves.

Have FB gone too far this time?

LinkedIn is worse. If you view someone's page everyone you've looked at will show up on their 'people who viewed this also viewed' feed.

OttiliaVonBCup · 13/04/2015 22:05

I just looked mine up and it's bizarre.

People I've never heard about, no mutual friends.

Maybe we get assigned random strangers?

LondonRocks · 13/04/2015 22:13

Where is it (people you may know)?

Can't see it on my Facebook page... Confused

Bakeoffcake · 13/04/2015 22:16

Where is the "Friends you might Know" bit on FB. I can't find itConfused

SwedishEdith · 13/04/2015 22:18

Click on your own name and it's under your photo/cover bit.

LondonRocks · 13/04/2015 22:19

X-posted! Grin

Bakeoffcake · 13/04/2015 22:20

Grin Glad im not the only one.

I'm going to go and look!

LondonRocks · 13/04/2015 22:20

Mine doesn't have that...?!

Heebiejeebie · 13/04/2015 22:22

Let's have an experiment. Someone pm me, I'll search for you on facebook and we'll see if I turn up in your people you may know list.

LondonRocks · 13/04/2015 22:24

I've got activity log, update, and 'view as' but nothing else.

Maybe it's because no one can add me unless they are a friend of a friend?

Bakeoffcake · 13/04/2015 22:24

I don't have it either. That must mean I won't know anyone!

SwedishEdith · 13/04/2015 22:24

Oh. Well, click on Find friends on the left hand side and scroll down - it should be there?

LondonRocks · 13/04/2015 22:25

Bake, how odd! We must be special cases Grin

LondonRocks · 13/04/2015 22:28

Ah, got it. Thanks Edith

It says it has no suggestions. Possibly a result of me culling loads and being a bit unfindable by the public.

MissHC · 13/04/2015 22:29

Facebook gives each device you use to access your Facebook account a device ID. It uses the info on your device such as phone numbers to recommend other users.

They have now also launched Facebook Atlas to behaviourally target people across the web with relevant ads. Amazon does this too using your Amazon account info.

Bakeoffcake · 13/04/2015 22:34

No, Swedish it isn't there either.

I feel all left out nowGrin

SwedishEdith · 13/04/2015 22:36

You've just got no nosy "friends" Grin

imonkey · 13/04/2015 22:38

muminhants I don't know for certain but a while ago a person I knew over 20 years ago appeared in my people you may know. I had changed my mobile number several times and I'm not sure I even had an email when I knew them, they certainly wouldn't have the one linked to my fb account. I moved far away from the village we lived in and have no mutual friends. The only thing I can assume is they searched for me and then was suggested to me as someone I know. It's someone I never would have searched for tbh.

Bluetone · 13/04/2015 22:40

I have "people you may know" if I click on the friend request icon at the top. I'm on the app on my phone.

Most of mine are mutual friends. It's no big deal really.

mickeyfartpants · 13/04/2015 23:18

There is someone I know who looks at my page. Constantly. She stalks me in other realms too. So if this is true, why has she never come up in my "people I might know" list?

DocHollywood · 14/04/2015 07:00

That happened to me imonkey. It dawned on me later that I'd joined the mailing list for my old school and that was why, in my case, this person had appeared out of nowhere! A bit of a jolt to see someone you hadn't seen or thought of for over 40 years in front of you Grin

Bakeoffcake · 14/04/2015 08:14

Mickey- how do you know she's looking at your page?

PeppermintCrayon · 14/04/2015 08:55

Yes how could you know?

madreloco · 14/04/2015 09:28

Its your own paranoia that will ruin it Perhaps those of you convinced that sinister things are going on arent really suited to social media and should deactivate. Conspieacy theories are pretty unhealthy.

takemeuptheeiffeltower · 14/04/2015 09:44

Well then we must ALL be paranoid! Grin
Personally , rather that than too gullible.
