Horrendous morning sickness and partner poaching fish

idontknowmyusernameanymore · 09/04/2015 16:07

I am fuming.

I am suffering with horrendous morning sickness to the point I haven't eaten anything in 2 days with the exception of water/vitamin tablets.

I've just been out of the house for around 1-2 hours to sit by the canal at a picnic area to get some fresh air. OH was at home at this time.

I come home and within 5 minutes of me being home he starts to boil fish in milk and make a fish pie. I am literally gagging because of the smell of it. He knows I hate it when NOT pregnant, let alone now when any strong smell is making me vomit. I haven't eaten in two days, I'm doing whatever I can to refrain from being sick and he does this.

Im now sat upstairs with our bedroom door closed and windows open fully but can still smell it.

AIBU in thinking this is so selfish? if he had to do it at all he could of done it when I was out for 2 hours!! Argh Sad Angry

I'm with you op. I dint think however anyone can comprehend the horror if morning sickness if they haven't had it themselves. Poor you.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 09/04/2015 16:11

Bloody hell that's a very twattish thing to do.

Selfish arse., is he usually inconsiderate?

AlpacaMyBag · 09/04/2015 16:11

So sorry for you OP. YANBU.

idontknowmyusernameanymore · 09/04/2015 16:14

He's being so unsympathetic he's pissed off that I haven't eaten in 2 days and just telling me that I need to eat some fruit and vegetables to keep "our" child healthy yet he does this and makes me feel even more poorly. Upstairs in bedroom crying over this now. Sorry for depressing post but feeling really bloody angry and sorry for myself Angryr

LTB.

seaoflove · 09/04/2015 16:16

He's an inconsiderate, insensitive prick. HTH!

browneyedgirl86 · 09/04/2015 16:20

He's being bery unreasonable and selfish! Yanbu!

DrElizabethPlimpton · 09/04/2015 16:21

He is being horribly selfish.

(I did think from your title that he had been stealing them from a local land owner which did make me smile when I realised what you meant!)

PurpleSwift · 09/04/2015 16:21

YANBU!!

007JamesBond · 09/04/2015 16:22

Sorry - from the OP I thought your DH was fishing illegally.

Don't come near my house - we had grilled mackerel for lunch!

Binkybix · 09/04/2015 16:22

Poor you - I'm just recovering from HG and it's awful. Explain to him now dreadful smells are at the moment. My DH made a curry when he didn't really understand but since then he's been eating his meals on a different floor of the house!!

idontknowmyusernameanymore · 09/04/2015 16:31

I didn't think of the title like that, that has made me smile a bit :)

I have explained millions of times now just how bad it is, you think him seeing me retch over things would drill it in too, but nope. Fucked off to the max.

He's just come upstairs to tell me its done now so shouldn't smell and let all the bloody smell into the bedroom so its 100% worse now! Argh. Tempted to LTB.

Binkybix hope your HG doesn't come back for you, that must of been horrendous compared to this normal ms! Flowers

To be honest I think it's all on a spectrum - you sound in a similar to how I was. If you continue to not be able to keep anything down it might be worth a trip to the Dr to check out hydration levels.

They also don't understand that when you have a super sense of smell then the odours last for fecking days!

idontknowmyusernameanymore · 09/04/2015 16:38

I'll keep a trip to the doctors in mind Binkybix if I'm not able to eat anything more today thank you! :)

YANBU and he is being an arse, but if you are suffering this much, go and see your GP. There are things you can be prescribed to make it easier. Going without food and water for 2+ days isn't going to do you or the baby any good Flowers

geekymommy · 09/04/2015 16:39

Making you vomit from the smell of his cooking isn't going to help with the "haven't eaten in two days" problem. I would think he would make something that normally would appeal to you if he's trying to get you to eat. How could he think that cooking something you always hate the smell of is going to get you to eat?

I'd tell him to quit cooking it. If he didn't, I'd throw up right in the goddamn pan. OK, I wouldn't, but I'd sure love fantasizing about doing that. (Sorry, I'm a little crabby today)

If he doubts that smells can make pregnant women vomit, he knows how to use Google, does he not? He can find plenty of confirmation there that smells can, indeed, make pregnant women vomit. I'm sure he's been nauseous at some point in his life and had a smell make it worse. If he hasn't, he's a rat. Literally.

BizzieBoo · 09/04/2015 17:01

I feel you're pain! I'm currently suffering from horrendous 'all day' sickness (morning sickness - yeah cause it stops at 11:59)!!! Confused

I'd be livid - I've scraped by the past week grazing as and when I felt like it and would have gladly vomited in the pan if my partner had done this!

Definitely get yourself to the docs and get checked out - I did on Monday and got some anti-sickness tablets that dissolve in the mouth.

Hope you feel better soon. Flowers

Feminine · 09/04/2015 17:06

I had incredibly bad sickness too.
He really isn't getting it all. Nor will anyone else who hasn't had severe morning sickness. It really is the worst thing ever.

Somehow he needs to 'get' it ..and fast!

I hope it gets better for you.

NobodyLivesHere · 09/04/2015 17:07

I walked out on my dp and went to my frievds for 2 days because he cooked burgers when I was in the depths of HG misery. I feel your pain OP.

idontknowmyusernameanymore · 09/04/2015 17:13

Definitely think I will go to the doctors then, somehow it's just the norm that pregnancy will make you feel this rubbish and just to deal with it! I'll see if they can give any help or anti-sickness, thank you ladies.

And on OH subject, he's still being a twat sulking at me for not keeping him company downstairs when it smells Hmm we'll see if he gets any more sympathetic Angry

OP I feel your pain. I can still remember this 26 years later ! I had a toddler DS, was pregnant with twins, couldn't keep any food or even water down, had stabbing back pain which turned out to be a kidney infection, but DH thought it was helpful to stick fish fingers under the grill, then wander off & disappear, leaving them to burn & fill the house with black smoke. The GP (yes, in those days, they visited !), was gagging along with me. It would have been grounds for manslaughter.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

LilacWine7 · 09/04/2015 17:15

You poor thing! I have HG and would be livid if DH cooked fish!

Binkybix · 09/04/2015 17:16

He's making me cross!

quirkychick · 09/04/2015 17:21

You poor thing! I had awful morning all day sickness throughout pg with dd2. It still doesn't sound as bad as yours. I would change whatever I could manage to eat regularly. I got really fed up with people telling me I should try ginger - nope, worked in 1st pg but nada in 2nd; a few grapes would sort me out, I absolutely couldn't keep down fruit of any sort. And as for smells... unbearable.

I think the Dr would be a good idea as you should be able to keep down something. Good luck. Your "d"h is dbu!

sparkysparkysparky · 09/04/2015 17:23

You sound like you need a bit of medical attention because of risk of dehydration. I've been there and ended up in hospital. You, me, Kate Middleton. Plenty others. Hyperemesis is horrid. I was on the water and vitamin tablets and then couldn't keep even those down (water tasted horrid). That's when I got hospitalised.
Almost as soon as dd was out it went. But it was 24 /7 horrid until 25 weeks and tolerable but rubbish for the remainder.
Keep strong and tell him to man up.
