Horrendous morning sickness and partner poaching fish

I am fuming.

I am suffering with horrendous morning sickness to the point I haven't eaten anything in 2 days with the exception of water/vitamin tablets.

I've just been out of the house for around 1-2 hours to sit by the canal at a picnic area to get some fresh air. OH was at home at this time.

I come home and within 5 minutes of me being home he starts to boil fish in milk and make a fish pie. I am literally gagging because of the smell of it. He knows I hate it when NOT pregnant, let alone now when any strong smell is making me vomit. I haven't eaten in two days, I'm doing whatever I can to refrain from being sick and he does this.

Im now sat upstairs with our bedroom door closed and windows open fully but can still smell it.

AIBU in thinking this is so selfish? if he had to do it at all he could of done it when I was out for 2 hours!! Argh Sad Angry

How did the docs go? Your DH needs to treat you a bit better I think. It's a tough time.

Peppermint Pasty, Crossfitmyarse, you're not the first to think that, and it is hilarious Grin is poached not a common word?

Mawbroon- thanks for tip on lemons, smells a bit better!

Thank you everyone for kind wishes/ sympathy stories, I feel really loved and supported! Smile

OH is slightly redeeming himself after I told him I might as well move out the way he was treating me he's (sort of) tided kitchen and got odour neutraliser. slightly redeeming, still don't like him at the moment

Thanks for asking Binkybix Doctor was as unhelpful as ever, seeing as its only been 3 days I can't keep food down but I can keep fluid and vitamins he think's I'm not at risk. because half a cheese sandwhich in 3 days is normal I have the midwife on Tuesday though so if it gets any worse will give her a call :)

Bringing back memories of sickness and what I ended up calling the 'food lottery' or What can I keep down today?
Fish? I'm normally a fish lover but when pregnant last it was so boakingly nasty even the thought of it.... Ugh, flashbacks!

I was limited to mostly bland and starchy foods for months and all the healthy stuff always came back. Oven chips were fine, broccoli - heck no. Found out later that it's the iron content that makes you suffer with multivitamins, try and find one that's iron and retinol free and you might feel better. I find even now if I take a normal multivitamin on an empty stomach it gives me nasty nausea!
Hope you feel better soon.

It was onions for me. The smell of frying onions was hell on earth. My mum would (kindly) come round to try to help out, but she couldn't stand the thought of cooking without onions so it would have been better if she hadn't tried. I was like you, locking myself in my room with the windows open. She hadn't had morning sickness in any pregnancy so she just didn't get it.

Weeks 8-10 were the worst for me both times when I could barely eat anything. With dd the sickness stopped at 12 weeks but I had slightly weird taste in mouth and vague unease about food til the end. With ds I felt sick for 16/17 weeks and was being sick at about 15 weeks literally in the street, but once it had gone it went completely.

In first preg at one stage I could only stand the thought of salami /cured meat type stuff so I had to eat that even though I don't think it is recommended.

Morelikeguidelines · 10/04/2015 21:18

Ps I also thought the poldark version of poaching at first.

And I definitely found both times that it was vegetables I.could not stand.

PeppermintPasty · 10/04/2015 21:44

HaHa, I think the poaching thing has more to do with my slight obsession interest in all things Poldark plus the fact that I am currently having a very pleasant pretend relationship with Aidan Turner who adores me by the way so it's on my mind a little bit Grin

TinyTearsFirstLove · 10/04/2015 21:54

That is awful! I will never forget how awful morning sickness was and have several 'memorable' episodes.
I know people who haven't had it will find it difficult to truly get how heightened your sense of smell is but I would make damn sure I threw up all over him. Then say, if you cook that again while I'm pregnant I will throw up again......on you!

YANBU

With one of them I spent 9 months with hg. Off and on drips and could not even keep water down or lift my head. It was horrendous.

My husband ate in a different room to me and never cooked anything with a strong smell. I didn't request it but he couldn't watch me throwing up any more than I was already because of the smell of his food.

I hope it eases soon.

My dh was very offended when I told him his toiletries made me feel sick. On the flip side, my lovely male work colleague always remembered to move his cup of coffee as far away from me as possible, bless him. Then he sat with me outside while I threw up the tonne of grapes I'd just eaten (could only really eat plain tasting fruit with first child) and was so caring and didn't bat an eyelid, what a star!

Then there was the Sainsburys incident where I could smell there fridges, can't really explain it, just know I was their fridges. Had to run/waddle back to the car and just made it in time to grab the sick bowl. That bowl was my friend and went everywhere with me, including on the tube. The horror of the tube incident still haunts me.....my dh was a bit more understanding with that one! Happy days........

Hope you are feeling a bit better OP. GP sounds useless. You sound depressed and no wonder. I just wanted to lie in a dark odour free room during my first pregnancy.

idontknowmyusernameanymore · 12/04/2015 19:50

Been sick but... Managed to eat some Rice Krispies today so feeling a bit better!

OH is now cooking chilli now. Angry. I have no fucking idea what is wrong with the bastard at the moment
