My 16 yr old son is friends with a family who have just moved into the close next to ours and we were invited round for coffee. My partner left as he was fuming and I stayed for the sake of my son but I was seething. They are a family of 8 and the mum is pregnant again, they were so brazen and gloated that their 4 bedroom house is paid for by housing benefit (we have the same in the next close and the rent is £800 pcm)
He has never worked and hasn't long been released from prison. The children had all the gadgets from ipad to ps4. She said she has never worked either as she loves to be pregnant and plans on having more. Now you will have seen from previous threads I don't benefit bash but this is disgusting how can this be allowed. My son has been invited by them to go fishing on their boat, i don't want him anywhere near them. my partner works damn hard to pay the rent and our band f council tax and these people not only get everything given to them but they openly gloat about it. This is what is wrong with this bloody world Angry Angry

My bet is that it's a luxury yacht. After all, this is some alternate reality where people rent 4 bedroom houses for £800 and then pay band f council tax (which is more than 1/4 of the rent again in my LA). So you can probably pick up a luxury yacht in the local poundland.

Or it might be a miniature luxury yacht, of the kind Malibu Barbie would own.

Adizzylass2014 · 09/04/2015 16:56

It's a housing association property.

Benefit bashing .Gypsies.

Anyone want to take a guess at the Trolls OPs next inflammatory thread?

.

SpinDoctorOfAethelred · 09/04/2015 17:04

Are your children like Dudley Dursley, with two bedrooms each?

usualsuspect333 · 09/04/2015 17:06

A HA castle? With a moat, goat and boat?

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2015 17:08

Op seems to have abandoned the Gypsy thread. Sad

SpinDoctorOfAethelred · 09/04/2015 17:15

My next-door neighbours got an HA property. Band A council tax. For a family of five.

Do you have spce on the moat for a houseboat?

ilovesooty · 09/04/2015 17:16

So why do you think it's ok to accept someone's hospitality then come onto the Internet to criticise and speculate about their lifestyle?

Suppose they chose to speculate about whether you should have your benefits and support? Suppose they made judgements on your son's hidden disability?

vindscreenviper · 09/04/2015 17:26

Grin at usual channelling Dr Seuss

nemo81 · 09/04/2015 17:27

They won't be getting tonnes of money, the benefit cap saw to that.

And to try and stop your son hanging around with a lad because his parents are on benefits and have 8 kids?! Really?! Confused They probably wouldn't want their son hanging round with a kid who has judgemental snobs as parents.

I do wonder why someone would start a thread like this and disappear off the face of the earth.

I have only started a few threads over the years and wasnt off it once people started responding..

They will be getting more money than expected should they be working cash in hand....

vitamink · 09/04/2015 17:38

£26k per year, tax free, without having to do anything to get it is a hell of a lot of money!

usualsuspect333 · 09/04/2015 17:39

The OP is from the 'wind them up and watch them go' school of thread starting.

What is so funny about either scenario

Waiting to work until dc start school, or not working due to losing benefits and being worse off.

SpinDoctorOfAethelred · 09/04/2015 17:50

Don't be so cynical! Shock

The OP has simply popped on her coat
And nipped out to get a pic of the boat
On next door's bit of moat.

When she comes back she'll tell us about her house and give us style tips.

£26,000 for a family of 8 isn't going to stretch very far tbh.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 09/04/2015 18:02

usual well, she still has disability, sexuality, and religion, I suppose. Hmm

Littlemonstersrule · 09/04/2015 18:04

Not sure why you keep saying that needaholiday, whilst he may work its nowhere near enough to cover your lifestyle choices hence the need for a whole range of top up benefits, it's not something to be proud of.

It just highlights the fact that it's grown to be such a way of life for many.

Just ignore me, I read the post wrong and was disagreeing with the bold part and not your response.
I was agreeing with you, I blame too much sun today. Not used to it Grin

Littlemonster

I'd say it was neither something to be proud or nor ashamed.
Of course it highlights how its become a way of life, it's hardly anybodies fault, except governments of course.
