And 35 Middle aged?

OP posts:
meglet · 07/04/2015 17:15

45 is more middle aged these days.

70+ is old.

ImperialBlether · 07/04/2015 17:15

This is not going to go well!

BackforGood · 07/04/2015 17:15

Yup. YUBU.
Not many 60 yr olds would be considered 'old' these days.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/04/2015 17:16

And your reason for asking is?

susiedaisy · 07/04/2015 17:17

45-50 Middle aged
60-70 old
70+ elderly. IMO

LipglossHoney · 07/04/2015 17:17

Depends how old you are OP, when I was 16 anyone over the age of 30 was geriatric. Now at 35 I like to think I'm in my prime.

OneStepCloser · 07/04/2015 17:18

And your reason for thinking that?...

YANBU. If that's what you think, it's your perogative and probably a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Similarly, IANBU to barely admit to being middle aged at 54. Grin

Skiptonlass · 07/04/2015 17:21

Depends on how much mileage you've put on the clock.

I know eighty year olds who do triathlon, and twenty five year olds who've tanned, smoked and grimaced their way to looking fifty.

Besides, if you think 35 is Middle aged, I'm going to kindly have to ask you to step outside.... :)

MyArksNotReady · 07/04/2015 17:21

Yes it is old. Not many 60 year old want that to be true. Over 45 is past middle age.

lifelorn · 07/04/2015 17:22

I think it is all in the mind.
Last week I switched on the radio to listen to a Peter Tinniswood play (Imelda Staunton and Phyllida Law). It turned out to be set in a nursing home, the elderly lady it transpired was 62!!

I turned it off (yes I am 62)

Snottybiyatch · 07/04/2015 17:23

Age is just a label anyway. I am as near to 60 as makes no difference: I would not go back to my 30s-40s for all the tea in China and as for being 15-30....FUCK no!

The ONLY gripe I have about getting older is that, inevitably there is less time left. If I could have started my allotted span at, say 50, believe me I would have done!

thegreylady · 07/04/2015 17:23

I am 71 and don't feel old!

Dowser · 07/04/2015 17:24

Omg I hope not.
I'm 63 with long blonde hair, high heeled boots, shortish skirts.

A few wrinkles. Act like a teenager most times but old enough to know better and be sensible when I have too.

I don't want to insult any 80 olds on here but that's elderly.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/04/2015 17:24

What do you mean by 'middle aged' or 'old' anyway? In what way are these useful labels?

tormentil · 07/04/2015 17:26

None of the 70 year olds I know are 'old aged'. They're all doing much the same things as they were doing twenty years ago.

ilovesooty · 07/04/2015 17:26

I don't think I can be trusted to dignify this OP with any kind of response. I might get banned if I do.

Dowser · 07/04/2015 17:26

And I still have sex!

swazza · 07/04/2015 17:27

How can 60 be old when the state retirement age is 68?

If someone I love died aged 60 I would feel they had been cheated out of a fair chunk of their life.

I would consider 80 plus old (sorry any 80 plussers). Middle aged is fifties perhaps!

SaucyJack · 07/04/2015 17:27

Is your username your date of birth OP?

What's your motivation for labelling those born in 1980 middle-aged?

Pyjamaschocolateandwine · 07/04/2015 17:28

What a sexist thread.

Best not answer then.

Op at best you sound yawningly boring I mean who cares!

and at worse please tell the daily fail you couldn't drum up
Any interest. Grin

adora1985 · 07/04/2015 17:28

I'd say 45 is the start of Middle age, 65 plus is old, 80 plus is elderly. I can't see 35 as being middle aged at all, I fully intend on living well past 70, so sincerely hope that 35 won't be my middle age.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 07/04/2015 17:28

Not even an OAP these days

butterfly2015 · 07/04/2015 17:29

My parents are in their 70s and my dad is a volunteer for help the aged, he goes to visit an "old boy" a few times a week to have a chat, take him shopping etc. My parents go to shows, go cycling, go walking all over the place...They are fit and healthy and would be quite offended to be referred to as elderly!

My dp is 57 in a few weeks and is still a lifeguard, still young at heart and most definitely not old!

And 35 is not middle aged.

How old are you op? 12?

It's the school holidays isn't it?
