It's warm here, I'm sat outside basking in the sun, listening to 90s classics. I've just heard my neighbour complain loudly about the "bloody noise" to her dh. It's not loud at all. So aibu to ignore them and carry on listening to Shania twain, backstreet boys, bwitched etcetc? Grin

Everything is going to annoy someone...if people can't live and let live then I'm not sure why they'd choose to live near others!

SirChenjin · 06/04/2015 18:02

You can not see him - you can do what you told everyone who doesn't like music to do, you can wear something to block it out, ie a blindfold.

SirChenjin · 06/04/2015 18:02

And Shania Twain sucks royal dick

Really? Who??

I love the argument that people being annoyed by neighbours should just move to where there aren't any neighbours. Because life is actually that easy.

2 POVs here.

  1. I can do what I want in my own back garden and if it disturbs anybody else that's just tough ** .
  2. I realise that I live in a shared space so I will be considerate to those around me.

I can't stand any music being played outside. There are earphones- use them.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 06/04/2015 18:06

She turned the music off and those comments quoted don't sound smug,I think she was being 'lighthearted'Easter Wink

TheReluctantGenius · 06/04/2015 18:06

Well they'll just have to live in rage then pipbin if anything anyone does annoys them so much.

SirChenjin · 06/04/2015 18:06

OK, not told - suggested that people wear earplugs. I'm suggesting that you wear blindfold if the site of a man in speedos bothers you.

Yes, the 'why don't you move' is always helpful Hmm. How about have some consideration for your neighbours and then no-one will have to move?

Pipbin · 06/04/2015 18:08

So someone can be a grade A cunt but the problem is mine if I'm being annoyed?

MistressMerryWeather · 06/04/2015 18:11

I think consideration should really work both ways.

If you have a nice neighbor who doesn't bother you otherwise, is it not considerate to let them enjoy some music in their own back garden from time to time?

TheReluctantGenius · 06/04/2015 18:11

Well that's the second time today I've been called thick/stupid on mumsnet - told you I was a reluctant genius!
But hey ho at least I don't resort to insults on a forum and I'm quite happy in life Grin

Bodicea · 06/04/2015 18:11

I like silence and the sound of birds in my garden. I wouldn't like having you as a neighbour. YABU

A tablet is incapable of producing loud music. She may have heard it but it certainly would not have been loud.

YANBU OP.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 06/04/2015 18:14

Wouldn't wanking in your back garden (in public ) be a public order offence?

Not quite the same as frothy 90's toonsEaster Smile

Low music in my opinion is fine. Blaring it out for hours is not.

I agree with you there.
We had a real problem neighbour who would play music so loudly in his flat that I could hear it across the road at the back of my house through 3 closed doors.
It has made me rather noise adverse.
Low music is ok, loud banging bass is not.

SirChenjin · 06/04/2015 18:16

It's all moot anyway as the OP turned off the music, but if I could hear one of my neighbours complaining about the "bloody noise" that my music was making then I'd be turning it off straight away, or sticking in some headphones unless (I didn't like them and wanted to piss them off). It's those little things that make for a peaceful, harmonious life all round.

HighwayDragon · 06/04/2015 18:17

Ooo I'm an inconsiderate chav now

Which is rather unusual, since I'm the type to warn neighbours who have washing out when we're about to bbq

Well my dog loves barking in the garden. He would happily bark, bark, bark non stop. Bark at the birds, next doors dogs, the chickens, people in the street.

He's not very loud so that's fine isn't it? I don't think he's any louder than next doors music as he's only a small dog.

So can I stop bringing him inside all the time? Everyone who thinks its ok to inflict music on neighbours must think it's fine for my neighbours to have to listen to my dog all day because he's not that loud?

Great, he'll be chuffed to bits. I will obviously bring him in at 9pm as barking after that time would be anti social.

This just about sums it up for me.
