As much as I'd love to head to say, st lucia, we are contemplating the Falklands as our honeymoon destination.

Where did you go?

We went to Sandals Antigua.

It was wonderful and I would love to go back one day.

Why? Not sure really. We wanted somewhere we has never been and a little bit luxurious. We could probably have gone somewhere fancier for the same money thinking about it now (sandals are probably overpriced for what you get) but we loved every single minute of it Grin

Los Angeles (for Disneyland and why not?) and two weeks on Vancouver Island with his relatives - which is slightly weird in retrospect, but i really enjoyed it. We never did anything like it again and in fact, apart from one year where we had a caravan holiday and a short trip to Disneyland Paris with the DC, I don't think we ever went on holiday again.

FernGullysWoollyPully · 04/04/2015 08:35

We went to Hua Hin in Thailand. Had a fantastic time. It was low season but the weather was still glorious and hot. The hotel was incredible and the service impeccable.

We had never been on holiday together, just the two of us, and thought with 4 children it might be a while before we got to experience somewhere so amazing again. We got to do things and see things we'll never do and see again. It was magical.

Originally, we wanted to go to Vietnam but it was too expensive. We're saving to go for our 5 year anniversary.

Paxos - Greek Islands. Very quiet and lovely sea. Did some.sailing and.lots of swimming. Good food. 2 weeks self-catering. It was our wedding present from pils.

DuchessofBuffonia · 04/04/2015 08:40

We went to Hawai'i. We got married in Las Vegas, so we thought it was a great chance to just keep going as we were unlikely to get that far again for a long time. We loved it!

MummaV · 04/04/2015 09:01

London for a few days straight after the wedding just to get away from the madness. We then went to Mexico for our first anniversary paid for with our wedding gift money (we'd lived together for years so everyone automatically gave us cash rather than gifts). It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for us to spend a week in a 5 * all inclusive resort and we loved every second. Smile

fishesgirl · 04/04/2015 09:04

Madagascar. We like lemurs. And all of the other unique flora and fauna was fascinating. And managed some time lazing on the beach too.

Haggisfish · 04/04/2015 09:06

West coast of Scotland and lakes-loved it even though weather was a bit crap.

MrsKoala · 04/04/2015 09:10

High fives thenightsky . My first wedding we had a week in exHs aunts holiday cottage in Looe, given as a wedding gift. It was lovely.

Second wedding was even more budget. We got married at westminster rego office and stayed at a local hotel we got thru groupon for 2 nights and had the following day wandering round London. Went to regents park, had a lovely middle eastern lunch, wallace collection, dinner at a fantastic chinese restaurant. All with 3mo ds1 in tow and absolutely no sex at all for another 4 months .

Cirsium · 04/04/2015 09:11

Cottage in the Scottish Borders for a week, it was lovely. Didn't have a huge budget and didn't want to spend ages travelling (it was about an hour and a half from home). Lots of historical properties to visit which we both enjoy and we were able to take our dog (sadly no longer with us) and go for lots of nice walks, then snuggle up in front of the wood burner.

Anaffaquine · 04/04/2015 09:12

5 nights in Vegas, then 6 nights in LA, then 7 nights in San Francisco.
We had always wanted to see that side of USA, had back packed round Asia and South America after Uni together, felt we should experience Vegas before we had kids.
It was fantastic!
Nowadays with 2 tinies, we don't do long haul, in fact this year will be the first time we've left the uk since becoming parents. We are going to DLP.

MrsKoala · 04/04/2015 09:15

oh i forgot the why? 1st time it was all we could afford and Cornwall is lovely. 2nd time because we had 6wks to plan the wedding and we had a 3mo and i was still recovering from birth trauma.

CitronVert · 04/04/2015 09:17

West coast of Scotland for a week in a beautiful small hotel on the shores of a loch.

Then straight after a week in New York in a hotel on Times Square.

Bit of a contrast between the two but loved them both.

I'm not a sun worshipper (don't tan and just get red and ugly in the heat) so tropical paradise islands have never really appealed to me.

HellBoundNothingFound · 04/04/2015 09:23

Civitella D'Agliano, Italy. In Umbria region. It was a honeymoon villa set inside a cave with a hot tube (hope it had a good filter Wink). We went in mid September and it was stunning! Wasn't too costly either!

HellBoundNothingFound · 04/04/2015 09:26

Hot tube? Ha Hot tub!

ConcreteElephant · 04/04/2015 09:35

Snap CatHammock! We went to Iceland too.

Such a fascinating place, we love hiking and we don't do hot, beach type holidays. Drove right round the edge staying in various places, trip to Grimsey, horse riding, blue lagoon (of course!). It was very expensive but we knew it was a real treat. Brilliant, and we'd definitely go back.

SquirrelledAway · 04/04/2015 09:37

Three weeks traveling from San Francisco up to Oregon, then across to Nevada and Arizona, ending up back in San Francisco, where we got married a couple of days before flying back to the UK. Bit back-to-front as we had the honeymoon first, then got married, and had a bit of a party when we got back home. The actual wedding cost $90.

ConcreteElephant · 04/04/2015 09:39

Of the other places listed here, we also love Cornwall (married there) and the Lakes. We had a brilliant trip to Canada, exploring the West coast and into the Rockies on the train. I went on the Trans-Siberian from Irkutsk to Moscow while at Uni - amazing.

Since our honeymoon we haven't been abroad though, lots of great places to explore in the UK. Once the DC are older maybe we'll go further afield but I wouldn't be bothered if I never flew again. I'm quite nervous, and less brave as I get older!

Icimoi · 04/04/2015 09:40

Egypt and Israel. It was to be honest a bit of a disaster involving major gut rot for both of us and a missed flight between the two countries. However, having survived the honeymoon we're still together thirty years later, so maybe it was a good testing ground.

yeahokthen · 04/04/2015 09:41

The Seychelles, it was glorious.
Also been to St Lucia in the summer and loved it.
Would go back to either.

YouCanButImNot · 04/04/2015 09:43

We went to Boa Vista in Cape Verde, we went there because it looked beautiful and we just wanted to do nothing! We did go whale watching and saw humpbacks and their young which then turned up off the beach of the hotel a few days later. We loved it there, so much so we went back for a final lazy holiday when I was 20 weeks pregnant with dd.

OurGlass · 04/04/2015 09:44

Vegas. DH went before and told me it was just amazing - and it was.

Warmandtoasty · 04/04/2015 09:44

We went to Antigua, it was amazing. We wanted a relaxed beach holiday and it was just perfect. We went in August which is still bad season for weather but we were lucky and it only rained a couple of times through the night.

Bubble2bubble · 04/04/2015 09:47

Skiing in Utah. 'Twas fab. Equally fab watching people go Confused when we told them..

Shodan · 04/04/2015 09:50

Corfu with xdh-my dad very generously surprised us with it. It was lovely.

Las Vegas, Maui and Burlington (New England- we hoped to see the fall leaves, but were too early Grin) with DH. Utterly wonderful.
