As much as I'd love to head to say, st lucia, we are contemplating the Falklands as our honeymoon destination.

Where did you go?

Florence. I watched Room With a View at an impressionable age. Rented an amazing but cheap apartment with frescoes just round the corner from the Duomo, it was fabulous.

Ratfinkandbobo · 03/04/2015 22:48

FalklandsConfused
Go to Florence like pp advises

Creatureofthenight · 03/04/2015 22:48

Rainy season on St Lucia is generally defined as June to November, though of course is hard to be precise. We honeymooned in May there and it was fine - a few afternoon showers but they only lasted 5 mins or so.
Sounds like you were unlucky Room.

ARoomWithoutAView · 03/04/2015 22:50

YES, YES, YES. omg I loooove holiday talk Roseforemeplease

We were going to Cornwall for our holiday with the DC x 3 this year, but so heavily booked up and then....Euro currency fell against the Pound.
So we looked at Ireland and now are going to Inch Bay in Kerry. Have been before and is so romantic. It is cheaper for us now than in 2006.
And I love that we are spending money in Ireland to help our closest trading partners of all time.
Cannot wait to hear the curlews sounds.
omg so romantic, books and seashells and stuff.
Sorry, so excited.

We went to the Dominican Republic. We chose it because it had a good mix of beach and things to do.
Went on loads of private trips organised by a local tour guide - half the price of the reps and no buses!
Hotel was right on the beach - it was perfect.
On our anniversary we did a Europe tour - Paris, Switzerland, Italy - Milan, lake como, then Monaco, Monte Carlo and South of France where we stayed in Cannes for a few days.
It was such a good trip. We took the car and didn't book anything just stopped where we fancied.
Ahh holidays before dc....

Siennasun · 03/04/2015 22:57

We went to the Seychelles. We were limited in the time we could go (had to be September) so lots of places were ruled out due to it being the rainy season.
Not complaining though - Seychelles was lovely. Grin

There's a reason for the Falklands, it's not just a random destination.

It's on our list of places to go together. Dp has been a few times, the first in 1982, most recently in 2012.

I love the idea of the Maldives, Vietnam, the train journey to Moscow sounds amazing. There's a whole world out there, dp has seen most of it already so it would either be the Falklands or somewhere completely new for him. He's done Australia, New Zealand, most of Europe, quite a lot of the far east. Vietnam sounds good though and my late dad had planned a trip to Moscow but never got there. I have all the travel agents stuff in a tin from the 1960s including details on the car hire at £2 a day :)

I did 3 days in Edinburgh and then a week in a cottage in the Scottish Borders. we were skint which was the primary reason but I also love Scotland and the borders so it was a chance to chill out with no Internet, no phones, just us and the dvd of all our wedding pics - glad we didn't spend a fortune cos the marriage onky lasted 20 months as he turned into a complete cunt

Yes it was bad, we were evacuated. We were lucky as westerners flown out of the Islands, back to the NY. But I feel so sorry for all those people back there. Some of them died, like a lot. 600 or more. Later the same weather patterns hit Boscastle in Cornwall.

I don't think it matters where you go.

...Just don't complain about service......Enjoy what people give to you in service or allow you to enjoy in using their property. Sorry, bit sad tonight thing of this.

butterfly2015 · 03/04/2015 23:00

I got married in the Dominican republic first time round and spent three weeks there, it was gorgeous.

This time last week I was on my honeymoon, in Disneyland Paris, DH sharing a room with DS, me with the 3DDs, romance eh?Grin

blueshoes · 03/04/2015 23:01

Driving trip around various cities in Andalucia, Spain. It is what dh and I love on holidays - bijou boutique hotels, good food and wine, beautiful sights and architecture.

deepdarkwood · 03/04/2015 23:01

Drove through France in an etype Jag, staying in chateaux - fab! Went to the Maldives the following year (we couldn't quite face the relentless romance of Maldives for the honeymoon!)

Ratfinkandbobo · 03/04/2015 23:01

A friend of mind went to Vietnam and had a brilliant time and highly recommends itSmile

SaltySeaBird · 03/04/2015 23:02

Maldives - we've travelled together a lot but had never done a luxury all inclusive type beach holiday. It was stunning and relaxing - proper beach paradise ... but ... not really our type of holiday and we wouldn't go again.

The Falklands is an amazing destination - I definitely recommend it.

ARoomWithoutAView · 03/04/2015 23:05

thinking of this I meant.

OP I just twigged I think re Falklands. I will PM you. You can rebuff me if you want. Grin.

Siennasun · 03/04/2015 23:06

Vietnam is on my list of places to go. DH isn't keen.
I think it'd be great for a honeymoon. So would Malaysia. I love Asia.

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 03/04/2015 23:09

We went to a resort in Morocco because it was Spring and we needed hot weather with as short a flight as possible (I hate flying). Twas amazing Smile

lazydog · 03/04/2015 23:09

Kenya - 5 day safari and 9 days at an all inclusive beach resort in Watamu. We both wanted to go on safari, but not for the whole 2 weeks.

Runwayqueen · 03/04/2015 23:11

Chania region of Crete. I loved Crete and wanted to go back despite having been with an ex, so went to the other end. Only downside is we are divorced now so daren't go back

Suefla62 · 03/04/2015 23:12

Miami Beach, 46 years ago.

Steppeoneggs · 03/04/2015 23:14

a cottage in cornwall.

That was what we could afford. It was lovely, we really only wanted to be with each other after very very busy time, so was perfect.

CruCru · 03/04/2015 23:14

India (Rajusthan) and the Maldives. We'd been to the Maldives before but I'd always wanted to go to India.

cococandyfloss · 03/04/2015 23:14

St Lucia! Was great weather -was in September though. We did go the following year again and it was quite rainy but no too bad. Would love to go back some day.

Ratfinkandbobo · 03/04/2015 23:16

I'm really Confused about the Falklands being a popular holiday destination!
All I know about it is the war in the 80s and sheep. Am I missing something? Please will someone enlighten me!
