As much as I'd love to head to say, st lucia, we are contemplating the Falklands as our honeymoon destination.

Where did you go?

Pippa12 · 03/04/2015 22:27

Egypt in 2010. Went in September which ruled out lots of places due to hurricane season etc. worked out amazing tho- so beautiful at a fraction of the price! Where ever you end up it will be special- enjoy x

TheFairyCaravan · 03/04/2015 22:28

Lake District. DH is in the RAF and his leave was cut short due to a new posting. He had to "arrive" 4 days after we got married. We did stay in a beautiful hotel and we really enjoyed ourselves and made DS1!

Theworldhasgonecrazy · 03/04/2015 22:28

306235388 are you my DH?! We did the same-Canada East to West! Grin

Ohfourfoxache · 03/04/2015 22:28

Also Canada - tour of Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec and Montreal, then flew to Calgary and drove to Banff for a week. It was absolutely incredible. We went because it was somewhere I'd always wanted to go and DH thankfully agreed!

Spermysextowel · 03/04/2015 22:29

A cottage in Hereford so that my ex's aunt & family could join us. First time they'd left France so they were nervous.

Twistedheartache · 03/04/2015 22:29

Malaysia - KL, Borneo & Langkawi perfect mix of city, jungle/nature & beach

MrsBungle · 03/04/2015 22:30

The Maldives for 2 weeks and then Dubai for 5 days on the way back. We just wanted tropical paradise to do nothing but relax. Dubai was just added on because we had the option to.

kaymondo · 03/04/2015 22:30

We went to South Africa for 2 weeks, then a week in Mauritius.

We wanted somewhere where we could be active/sightsee/have some amazing experiences, followed by a week just lying on the beach. It was perfect, absolutely loved South Africa - we travelled around so did Cape Town, then the garden route then safari in the Kareiga. Would love to go back one day.

nokidshere · 03/04/2015 22:31

Cascais in Portugal. We booked the holiday and then 6 weeks before we went we decided to get married the day before and make it our honeymoon Grin

Mrsderekshepard · 03/04/2015 22:32

Manchester Shock we had a 12 week dd at the time so was a few nights away at least. 1st anniversary we went to New York

Ffuchsia · 03/04/2015 22:32

Mexico. Only booked it up two weeks before the wedding.

It was lovely.

HeyMicky · 03/04/2015 22:33

Took the train from Beijing to Moscow. Was brilliant

Shosha1 · 03/04/2015 22:34

Singapore.

I grew up there and always wanted to go back.

It was wonderful.

Creatureofthenight · 03/04/2015 22:34

St Lucia. Because it is hot, the resort was lovely and we wanted a bit of luxury. And neither of us had been to the Caribbean before.

RJnomore · 03/04/2015 22:34

Verona and lake Garda. Had always wanted to go to Italy. Love it and now go there for most holidays (Italy in general, not just Thr lakes)

We wanted to go to the Philippines but it turned out to not be that easy a place to get to in 1999.

Highabove · 03/04/2015 22:34

Australia, east coast and great ocean road, Fiji and San Francisco on the way back.

Only way I could get DH to travel that far and take a month off work.

ARoomWithoutAView · 03/04/2015 22:35

Honeymoon - went to St Lucia. Went in May 20XX and were NOT told this was the rainy season.
Travel agent ( I wont out them) you should be ashamed, not dangerous...I get that, just a bit thick like a bit stupid, nobody from the agency had ever travelled abroad other than Spain we found out later.
We had to leave as there was worse things happening in the rest of the Caribbean. 600 people died in neighbouring island. Flood water and stuff.
I still cannot believe to this day, how stupid inexperienced the travel agency was to send us there, at that time of year.
The best holidays we have ever had have been in Greece.
Try Crete.
Organic.
Peaceful.
Respectful.
Perfect.
Bit biased, but that is our experiences.

Roseformeplease · 03/04/2015 22:35

Ireland. Cheap and not too far as we didn't have long.

pissedglitter · 03/04/2015 22:35

No where, we could afford a honeymoon

BernadetteMatthews · 03/04/2015 22:36

Haven in a cheap caravan, because we were totally skint and DS was only two weeks old and came with us.Grin

MarzipanDildo · 03/04/2015 22:37

Philippines. Island of Palawan. DH's uncle was in the navy and once told us that he thought the islands there were the most beautiful place on earth, so that was good enough for us! It was a gorgeous adventure in a relatively under-developed place.

Felt like the edge of the earth Smile

19lottie82 · 03/04/2015 22:38

Hong Kong and Vietnam then stopped off in Bangkok for 2 nights on the way home, it was awesome Grin

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 03/04/2015 22:39

Western Australia. Bloody gorgeous, amazing, beautiful.

5Foot5 · 03/04/2015 22:39

Tenerife. We were not well-travelled then but FIL gave us £500 towards a honeymoon for our wedding present (this was in the 80's so £500 got you a lot further than it would now)

Tenerife seemed about the most exotic place we could afford. Also we got married in February so the Canaries was one of the short haul destinations that could offer a mild climate at that time of year.

ARoomWithoutAView · 03/04/2015 22:40
