As much as I'd love to head to say, st lucia, we are contemplating the Falklands as our honeymoon destination.

Where did you go?

Yes thanks I know post.

Will be using trains mostly, flying to Verona and back from Venice, or possibly to Milan and adding that in. We are quite familiar ?ith Thr region now and comfortable using public transport - but I've never taken the girls. We usually take them to Sicily or the south, which tends to be even warmer. As long as we can access a pool and air conditioning, we will be fine.

Really looking forward to the malcesine cable car again.

5 years later and we still haven't gone anywhere Sad

Thanks for the posts about the Falklands. It's reinforced my need to go! I think because the war there shaped dps life it's become a place with incredible meaning. I want to go to pebble island, we have three pebbles from there in the garden here. We also have part of a plane dp shot down which came here via a very circuitous route involving a shipping container. He acquired it on his last visit.

It's lovely hearing about all the other places people have been.

Seattle, Vancouver, victoria, nanaimo and a few different stops in Alaska. Love canada and had always wanted to go to alaska. I got to play with husky puppies on my birthday

lechie · 04/04/2015 02:29

Cyprus.

It had always been my dream to go to the Holy Land, so we planned a two week break in Cyprus with a cruise to Egypt, Israel and Lebanon. Unfortunately between booking the holiday and going all the fighting broke out again, so we didn't get to go to Israel or Lebanon, but we did get to go to Egypt.

It was still fab though. Cyprus is the birthplace of Aphrodite the goddess of love and so there was a lot of romantic things to do. I didn't really see the point of paying for an expensive holiday and then spending the whole time on the beach - not really a beach person, so I wanted to go somewhere where we could alternate beach days with days off exploring - historical sites, museums and the like. It was perfect for what we wanted.

MythicalKings · 04/04/2015 05:56

Orient Express to Venice. It was all I hoped it would be.

Lucyccfc · 04/04/2015 05:59

Portugal for 3 weeks to watch England play in Euro 2004.

WaitingForEgg · 04/04/2015 06:10

Bali
Our wedding was end of July and we feared hurricane season in the Caribbean. It was absolutely wonderful and so so cheap out there, had an amazing time

HeadingHome · 04/04/2015 06:17

We lived in England but married in Australia. I wanted Bora Bora but DH said it was "too out of the way". So I picked somewhere on the flight path of our trip home: Maldives. Wink

Weebirdie · 04/04/2015 06:25

All of these honeymoons sound fabulous. Smile

christmashope · 04/04/2015 07:24

Sri Lanka then onto Hong Kong then Bangkok. It was amazing!

CuppaSarah · 04/04/2015 07:24

Alton-flipping-towers!! Because we love it there and didn't want to leave the country the first time we left dd for more than a night. Also because we conceived did in the hotel there so it seemed pretty special. It was lovely and perfect.

expatmumsy · 04/04/2015 07:28

Just like HeadingHome we lived in the UK, but married in Australia, so went to Langkawi, Mayaysia for honeymoon, because our flight stopped in KL.

Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia. We had a small, budget wedding so we could blow all our cash on a month long megamoon. Also, SE Asia is great value compared to other places we considered

Betrayedbutsurvived · 04/04/2015 07:43

Jamaica, we got married there. Went through the weddings abroad brochures and just picked the nicest looking place.

Littlecaf · 04/04/2015 07:52

I don't really understand the two or three honeymoon holidays thing. Surely if you go away after your wedding for a few nights - say 'Three nights in Edinburgh, immediately post wedding, it was lovely & fun" that's your honeymoon? Not the "2 weeks in the Maldives 2 years later". That's just a holiday!

blatantly jealous of friends who married late Oct, had a few days in the Lakes, a week skiing in Feb and still going on about their proper honeymoon in 2016

eurochick · 04/04/2015 07:57

Borneo. Saw orang utans, went through the jungle, stayed on a tiny eco island and saw baby turtles hatching and then finished off with a few days in five star luxury. Amazing.

Lake District in amazing little guest house, then round Sri Lanka then on to the Maldives. Was lovely apart from the fact we had a poisonous lion fish all the time under our floor glass panel, and he gave me the heeby jeebies!

Plarail123 · 04/04/2015 08:14

First time, Majorca, present from XFIL, beautiful apartment for 3 weeks, lovely. Second time, house in Devon as I was 6 months pregnant and couldn't travel. Both were great!

Peanut15 · 04/04/2015 08:14

Same as heymickey. We took the orient express to Venice, had a week at lake como, then a few days in Rome finishing up with a few days near Pompeii.

Was amazing and I don't think we'll ever top it.

Binkybix · 04/04/2015 08:15

Oh and our plane out was cancelled (snow) and I had to beg to be put on an easier one or miss 4 days of trip and we missed our plane back due to a late sea plane so bagged an extra night free and better carrier on the way home. Result!

JemimaPuddlePop · 04/04/2015 08:19

We went to the Lake District with the dc. Reason - we were skint having spent all of our money on the wedding.

It was lovely but if we'd had more money we would have gone abroad.

TrulyTurtles · 04/04/2015 08:22

Paris-cliched, but wonderful. Wish we could have afforded a better hotel though.
