How do you think they are going to 'end austerity'? How will this be financed? You can't just suddenly invest more in infrastructure etc to create more jobs if there is no.money.

If it is going to be financed by stopping trident, then we will lose US support - not really a good idea....

Labour are going to increase tax for higher payers, mansion tax etc in order to fund their investments.

I live in Yorkshire and we really don't get the support for SNP. They don't make sense to me, but as they seem to be so popular, please can someone actually why?

I had a statutory notice served on a flat in Aberdeen! (ages ago) just saying - not even sure it's relevant....

Thank you for the info re NS. I totally see why people like her - I went to an indy 'talk' she gave in the summer and she was very personable and professional. Shame she doesn't have different beliefs IMO.

BakewellSlice · 04/04/2015 17:21

I like John Swinney too. I just disagree about the minor point of dismantling the UK!

expatinscotland · 04/04/2015 17:26

I'm an SNP voter, too.

StillLostAtTheStation · 04/04/2015 17:47

And to keep some perspective, statutory notices only applies to houses within Edinburgh that were part of the world heritage site if homeowners weren't taking care of their property.

Simply not true. Statutory notices can be applied on any house. Edinburgh Council was slapping them on all over the city.

" I also find the way she and AS talk a bit affected, as in the adopt this very casual, slang, central Scotland way of speaking which I'm sure isn't typical of a former law student or Edinburgh economist from Linlithgow. "

Alex Salmond has a Linlithgow accent, not as strong as Bathgate or Livingston, but similar...and to me not the same one as Nicola Sturgeon at all, hers is a west coast accent, which would make sense seeing as that's where she's from.

StillLostAtTheStation · 04/04/2015 18:16

I don't know where she comes from I can't place her accent.

CrystalCove · 04/04/2015 18:16

What people are surprised about is that despite the outcome of the referendum and despite their promise that they would respect the will of the Scottish people they continue to push for it.

Why surprise as I said? The SNP will always have Independence at its core. Yes the referendum was No, why does that mean there shouldn't be another one in the future or indeed that the SNP will "push" for this.

ScotsWhaHae · 04/04/2015 18:17

Sorry, my confusion there with the other notices we were under with the world heritage site. I do remember now a pal in Tynecastle fighting one. The repairs would have been done and dusted if the grump on the ground floor didn't keep objecting to roof repairs. Joys of flat life.

It was a scandal, but it's a council issue and it's over with now. I just think it's odd one poster refers to it time and time again every time the SNP are discussed.

StillLostAtTheStation · 04/04/2015 18:18

Oh there's no surprise at all. Simply confirms she really has no interest in the will of the electorate.

CrystalCove · 04/04/2015 18:21

Nicolas accent is very similar to mine, since we both grew up in similar areas in Ayrshire I'm not really surprised by that.

blowinahoolie · 04/04/2015 18:22

"Wikipeadia can be wrong."

Agree here. DS's class is told not to believe all your read on Wikipaedia, it's not always trustworthy....

blowinahoolie · 04/04/2015 18:24

"We had a house in the new town."

So the moral of the story is...don't buy a house in the new town! Most people cannot afford to anyhow, so it's a non-issue for most people, hence why it's not even been flagged up in Parliament......

blowinahoolie · 04/04/2015 18:26

"I don't know where she comes from I can't place her accent."

Confused

Seriously, she's got a West coast accent. How anyone can miss that is beyond me!! ROFL

Nicola sounds like every other person who comes from Dreghorn - it's not affected at all. She was in my sister's class at school and we all talk like she does.

Got it loud and clear, thanks stressed.

PrimalLass · 04/04/2015 18:32

But it is easy enough to do a search on NS without using Wiki. And the accent comment - FFS.

stressedHEmum · 04/04/2015 18:32

Oh dear! My keyboard is acting up and has a bit of a mind of it's own[blush. Perhaps I'd better not post at all!

stressedHEmum · 04/04/2015 18:37

I will be voting SNP, though.

ScotsWhaHae · 04/04/2015 18:44

It's over rated blowing I much prefer real bins and double glazing!
