To get Sky TV and ask Ex for more maintenao cover the cost?

Dd2 stayed there last night. Since coming back she's declared that "It's not right that we don't have proper telly like normal families do"

Dd2 has never asked for TV. Our aerial broke over 6 months ago and she's not mentioned it at all until now.

Our lack of live TV (we have Netflix and can get iplayer etc through the Xbox) was of major concern to ex when we first moved. We got the rats shortly after, so they became a bigger concern.

He's not mentioned the rats for a 2 weeks or so, so I'm assuming one of the authority figures he keeps reporting me to has told him to get a grip. Now dd2 comes back wanting "proper telly" Hmm

If I order Sky I can bill him for it, no?

I've been trying to send mine a bill for my wine and hair dye (stress relief) but he doesn't reply so I'm assuming he won't cough up.

I wonder if he will bother mentioning the lack of TV to all of these people he keeps reporting me to?

I'll add gin to his bill. I need gin to cope with dd2 today.

Well, exactly, ThreeMoreDays, we've spent the last 6 months having to actually talk to each other and do things Shock

It's really not what normal families do. It's only right that he should pay for it, for the sake of his deprived children. Dd1 has had to resort to making cupcakes today because there is no TV, dd2 has had to actually go out and play, in the outside with the germs and nature and shit. It's not right and it's not normal.

They'd much be better off if they had 100+ channels of nothing to watch.

Sorry. I assumed most posters knew the background.

When we first left ex, we had no TV. This was a huge, huge concern to ex. Who berated me frequently on the matter. A few weeks after dd2 got some pet rats for her birthday. Someone gave me a TV and I got freeview in, but the aeriel broke shortly thereafter and I never got it fixed because freeview was never used.

He then started berating me over the rats. I wasn't a good girl and wouldn't do as I was told so he told of me to the school, child services and anyone else who would listen to him. Child services saw no reason to visit. The school are happy with the home conditions and do not see the rats as a concern and remind him every time he goes to the school that they have invited him in to discuss dd2's progress, not my house or pets.

The rats were a major, major issue for him. Dd2 would often come home from visits telling me all kinds of horrific tales about rats, disease and smells etc.

Things went quiet on the rat front after his most recent failed reporting of the situation about 2 weeks ago.

Now we are back to the TV being an issue. I'm sure if I order Sky, there'll be something else to whinge about or the rats will become an issue again.

I now refuse to speak to him unless it directly relates to the children and their well being, so often get second hand whinges from him via dd2. If she thinks we are not a normal family for having no live tv, it's because he has told her that we are not a normal family for having no live tv, in an attempt to get a rise from me, knowing what he says will be relayed to me.

So since he clearly wants us to have live TV and believes to be of major concern that we do not have it, he should pay for it, should he not?

What Saucyjack said. He sounds like a pure headwrecker tbh!!! If he wants it then he should bloody pay for it, if anything you'd think that a parent would be happy at their child watching less TV.....then again he doesn't sound like a logical or rational bloke at all. Plus filling his children's head with nonsense just to score points?! C**t!!!

Keeping communication to a minimum and only about welfare issues sounds exactly the right thing to do. Good luck my dear Smile

OP you are being completely unreasonable.

What you need is a new TV in addition to Sky. The gin is a given (partial to Tanquery myself) but you also need a good tonic to go with it (Fever Tree). But all of this would be pointless without sensible TV watching snacks; crisps, flavoured popcorn, decent chocolate & more crisps. Of course the rats will need snacks too.

You need to add all this to your Ex DH monthly maintenance bill with the express instructions that anything else would be both child & animal cruelty.

Actually that's something, we're still paying TV license from back when we had freeview working. I'll get on and cancel that.

I think you are a slack and terrible parent and should have the same set up as us: BT TV and Sky in the living room and playroom and freeview in the bedrooms. Because that's what a decent parent does not a parent that books BT a month before we move in then completely forgets about it and agrees to go back to Sky then has an oh shit moment when she realises but it's too late to back out of the contract

He'd probably believe that. They can eat through concrete (dd2 imparted that vital piece of info after a visit to her dad) so I'm sure a TV would be no problem.

It's getting worse. They are playing hide and seek with each other now. Someone needs to send these poor children Sky before they have to resort to reading or homework Shock

Eve, that sounds like something I'd be likely to do.
