To use 'natural' birth control

I'm not currently married, and do not (currently) want any more kids.

My current girlfriend is young - 24. And she doesn't take the pill. So I use condoms. Except that she uses a natural fertility computer religiously, and swears by it.

It's either this: www.amazon.co.uk/Uebe-0630-Cyclotest-Temperature-Fertility/dp/B001F7FXP4

Or this:
www.lady-comp.com/

I don't think I'm fully comfortable with the idea yet....

I really can't begin to imagine why someone would choose such a haphazard method if they were serious about not getting PG. It doesn't make sense.

I wouldn't if I were you! First month of "natural birth control" and I'm 6 weeks pregnant after only having sex twice! Bit of shock (although dont know why seeing as we weren't being careful) but happy as we always wanted another.

If you aren't prepared to deal with a (highly likely!) pregnancy then wear a condom. It's a no brainer really!

I was using something like this when I got pregnant with my eldest dc, I knew there was a risk and discussed it with my boyfriend (now DH) and we decided to take that risk. I can't take any hormonal contraception and like a lot of men he didn't much like condoms. We'd only been together about eight months so really not ideal, but she's a teenager and we're still happy. We wouldn't have chosen that method of contraception if a pregnancy was an absolute no no.

I've used the rhythm method for 7 years now. No accidents. And no...I don't have fertility issues. I'm very lucky but the only reason we do choose this method is because another baby wouldn't be a disaster...we've got two DC already and are choosing this in an informed way. Also I hate the idea of things inside me like coils....and condoms are horrid as I've a latex allergy...and the pill....nope!

xxx28xxx You admit you weren't careful and also said it was your first month, so you can't possibly have been using natural birth control as you didn't take any time at all to learn about your body or your cycle.

DontDrinkandFacebook how long have you spent learning about FAM? I can hazard a good guess that it's a lot less than me which means you don't understand it like I do and explains why it doesn't make sense to you. It makes sense to me because I invested time in it to make sure I did understand it.
