Tried to take out my Coil!

whatswrongnow · 28/03/2015 20:27

So ive a mirena coil in and we have been taking about having another child. I had a look on the internet today and lots of women seem to have just pulled their own out. I decided to give it a try. Not so good tried twice and now it feels like a tampon is in the wrong place and there was some ,tiny bit of blood. any advice would be welcome or anyone who has done it, thanks.

oh lord, this has made me feel very queasy! my foof is having a nightmare now.

expatinscotland · 28/03/2015 21:52

Please see someone tomorrow then, whats. Just, ow!

ArgentinianMalbec · 28/03/2015 21:56

Gaaah this is making my fanny twitch too! I am sitting here legs crossed squirming. DP just moaned at me because he couldn't hear the telly as I was rustling the beanbag my feet are on. Please go to A&E OP and get it sorted. Ouch!

Dowser · 28/03/2015 21:56

Read it all now.

What next? DIY caesareans? Tubal tie anyone?

Seriously. I hope you're ok .

This is what might happen if we lose our nhs.

Free to put in . ( population control)

£2,000 to remove.

Ok, I'll just do it myself then!

catnipkitty · 28/03/2015 22:01

I took mine out, but I do have medical knowledge. I'd leave it now and get to the doctors on Monday, before if discomfort gets worse or if you feel unwell. Did you disinfect your hands before you did this?

UncertainSmile · 28/03/2015 22:04

I'm crossing my legs, and I've not even got a vagina or uterus.

ScrambledEggAndToast · 28/03/2015 22:04

OMG ShockShock I can't believe you would even contemplate this?? It's hardly and emergency that can't wait for a doctor's appointment is it? This is the first time I've ever said this on MN but this is truly an idiotic, stupid and dangerous thing to to.

MsRaspberryJam · 28/03/2015 22:05

I've had bleeding from the cervix (caused by coil fitting) and it was really gushing. I was told it's a really place that bleeds a lot.

I don't blame you OP. I'd probs consider something like this myself if I was feeling brave!

UghReally · 28/03/2015 22:06

Oh noes :C I think I'd be running to a+e forget waiting until monday! But thats just me, I tend to sh*t myself if anything goes wrong down there.
hope you're ok, op.

mrsm16 · 28/03/2015 22:08

Give your caredoc a ring op, the nurse rings you back first to triage you so she can get you an apt with them tomorrow if you need it or recommend ae or whatever. If your going to wait til Monday one of the women's health centres might be a better option than your gp?

Sallystyle · 28/03/2015 22:08

I wouldn't wait until Monday personally.

Ring carecoc first thing tomorrow at the latest.

AppleSnapple · 28/03/2015 22:17

I don't think its that big a deal. (And I take them out as part of my job!) yes, irresponsible as irritating the cervix can precipitate cervical shock, but as you seem ok I think possible you're more at risk with it stuck in cervical canal, so I would just keep going if you feel uncomfortable! It's tiny, and flexible. If you can get a good hold of the strings and apply good strong steady traction, it'll come easily. You will not damage anything on the way out but don't do it when you're home alone in case you feel lightheaded, clammy, sweaty etc. If you do, stop and put head between legs and call for help. Unlikely, though.

mrsleomcgary · 28/03/2015 22:31

The thought of the coil has always made me feel a bit squeamish and reading this hasn't helped.

spiderlight · 28/03/2015 22:35

My entire reproductive system has gone into an involuntary spasm reading that!

SeeChooJimmy · 28/03/2015 22:36

What a ridiculous thing to do yourself! A+e incase you have done some damage I would say.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 28/03/2015 22:36

No no no. I shudder and cringe as I type. What possessed you, op.
That's why we have trained professional medics.
As others have said Doctors Monday morning. Hope everything ok. Please keep us posted.Flowers

WayfaringStranger · 28/03/2015 22:36

Ouch, glad it wasn't too traumatic for you. Please get yourself checked out if you get any pain or bleeding.

Shock just threw up in my mouth a bit at that.

Get yourself to the docs woman!

lougle · 28/03/2015 23:01

I took mine out with no issue. Easier than a tampon. Go to the doctor's though.

ChocolateTeacup · 28/03/2015 23:12

I took mine out, exactly like a tampon but had to pull a bit harder....

AnyFucker · 28/03/2015 23:24

Some of you need to read up on the anatomy of the vagina, cervix and uterus and the differences between them

really stupid and risky thing to do

Northernlurker · 29/03/2015 00:12

Oh good grief! Hope you are ok op ( you numpty!) please do seek medical advice onmonday or sooner if bleeding or unwell.

TheCatsFlaps · 29/03/2015 00:22

Unreasonable? Very. You shouldn't be rooting around in there, it's not like dropping something in the bottom of your handbag. Go to the fucking hospital and for fuck's sake stop giving the rest of us nightmares.
