To think Mumsnet is mainly south of the border members?

I've been on Mumsnet for about 8 years and I've seen so few posters who say they are Scottish, and none whatsoever in my area (just outside Glasgow).

I've been on the local group (which is dead). It would be great to meet someone near me as I'm bloody lonely. I tried the meet a mum on the other mums website, that's dead too.

You'd think there were no mums in the west coast of Scotland or maybe they are all part of some super amazing website / group that I've yet to hear of!

Scottish mummies, where are you???

Frankie Boyle was altogether different on that book show, wasn't he?

(I worked in Glasgow for a while so check out some Scottish themed threads!)

Loving this thread. Too early for politics.

DS's trip was meant to text parents regularly. They didn't last night. No one rang the hostel to complain or the emergency mobile number as we assumed they were safe and no one wanted to be 'that Mam'.

Oooft at the decide if Catholic or not comment. Grin DH was raised OO and is doing everything he can to keep DS away from every aspect of that whole 'thing' to the dismay of family. I'm looking forward to some finding out the child I'm carrying will not have a piss up at the tender age of 3 months Christening.

Frankie - I am from near Paisley and would happily meet up for coffee or cinema or something. I do have dogs, but ddog2 recently had knee surgery and is due the same op on the other knee, so is on restricted exercise, and I can't get her into the car to take her anywhere, even if it was to be a short walk at the other end.

StayingSamVimesGirl · 25/03/2015 10:18

Lois - I've met up with some of the Glasgow and Edinburgh woolly hug MNers at the Tramway in Glasgow, and one time we were there, Frankie Boyle was there too! Very exciting.

Oh - and I have reported one of the posts suggesting a special section, called MawsNet, to MNHQ - and asked really nicely that they consider it.

I suspect they will say we have MN local and that will do us. Sad

velvetelvis · 25/03/2015 10:32

I'm in Fife too! And work in Edinburgh :)

Jackieharris · 25/03/2015 10:41

I really wish we did have a Scottish section. The 'local' is too local iykwim?

So many things we could have their that just get lost in the general education/politics/news/tv etc sections.

I've met 2 Scottish mners via mn but they aren't on this thread and I think they both left a couple of years ago.

I'm fb friends with someone on this thread but she doesn't know I'm here which is weird.

Abzs · 25/03/2015 11:01

Aberdeenshire.

Or Royal Deeside, if I'm feeling fancy.

squoosh · 25/03/2015 11:07

Not Scottish but live in Glasgow.

It's okay.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 25/03/2015 11:09

staying ooh coincidence? I think not!

squoosh · 25/03/2015 11:11

It's comedy central around here. Frankie Boyle, Kevin Bridges, Greg Hemphill and Limmy all live near me.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 25/03/2015 11:15

squoosh That is awesome Envy

SoonToBeMrsB · 25/03/2015 11:18

I'm in Shettleston, originally from East Lothian

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 25/03/2015 11:19

Could we maybe start a Mawsnet thread in chat and try to keep it going? Like the sweary/musketeer/mermaid ones? A place to hing oot and swap tablet recipes and so forth. Grin

SoonToBeMrsB · 25/03/2015 11:19

squoosh

I walked past Frankie Boyle on Argyle Street on my way to the post office a few months ago. He's much taller than I expected Grin

StayingSamVimesGirl · 25/03/2015 11:25

I'd be part of a MawsNet thread, Lois!

glasgowlass · 25/03/2015 11:29

I'm all aboot the Mawsnet!

BeccaMumsnet · 25/03/2015 11:29

Hi everyone - please do start a thread in Site Stuff about having a Scottish MN section, then we can take a closer look.

squoosh · 25/03/2015 11:36

He is tall SoonToBe! I sometimes see him zipping around on a moped. We're dead continental round these parts y'know. Wink

BloodyDogHairs · 25/03/2015 11:36
