CRUST RAGE

Ok so in the grand scheme of things – not really a world class problem, but Oh. My. God. I have Crust Rage.

Time and time again, I feed children sandwiches/pizza etc, and they tell me they've ‘finished’ when in reality, all they have done is eat the ‘pointy bit’ and then move on to the next slice.

If a crust is really tough on a pizza or sandwich – fine, leave the actual crust. But more and more I am feeding DC friends who literally take one bite (the ‘point’) of each slice and then announce they’re finished but are ‘still hungry’

Of course you’re fucking hungry you have eaten about 1/8 of what I gave you.

My DC eat all the crusts on everything. Not because they are perfect but because they are greedy like their food. It drives me insane. Especially when their parents consider them to have ‘Eaten everything! Well done you!’ as well.

So AIBU to think that eating the pointy bits is NOT GOOD ENOUGH and to have serious crust rage?

Anyone else?

I was going to suggest that the OP makes a sandwich and shaves off the crust all round before cutting the sandwich into four but several have beaten me to it.

I'm not a lover of sandwich crusts but my DH would eat any crusts that I left on my plate. He's no longer with me so I eat crusts now if I'm out with a packed lunch but have a bite of tomato with each mouthful. If I'm at home, I cut shave off the crusts and put them out for the birds.

As for children who eat just the pointed bit and waste leave the rest, either don't give them sandwiches / pizza (if you remember who they are) or don't invite them.

What about this: DS used to eat the crusts until DH started cutting them off Angry

Caboodle · 24/03/2015 19:49

the stuffed crust would be filled with jam

Possibly my most favourite sentence...ever.

TalcAndTurnips · 24/03/2015 19:51

DoJo - dagnabbit. Foiled in my endeavours before I'd even made my first million. Sad

Have you ever noticed that, when you serve up a basket of garlic bread baguettes (especially the supermarket ones in twin packs), the last bits to go are always the knob ends?

ahbollocks · 24/03/2015 19:56

Crusts are a state of mind Grin

blankgaze · 24/03/2015 19:56

Make the sandwiches full of filling towards and including the crusts with only spread but zero filling at the pointy bits ?

LisaMed · 24/03/2015 19:59

ds once left 'crusts' on crumpets.

blankgaze · 24/03/2015 19:59

Make French toast aka eggy bread leaving the crusts on, serve with dips of choice, I've never known anyone leave the crusts of those.

Summerisle1 · 24/03/2015 20:00

Ahem.

I saw a friend peeling grapes for her child.
I almost fainted and wanted to shake her "what are you doing woman?! not in front of mine pls, they will expect that too from now on"

she asked if mine wanted any. I managed to refuse without lying.
or else I'd be having GrapeSkin Rage as well

YY to apple core rage as we'll. three bites does not equal 'cure'

(Unless you are the Incredible Hulk and its a really small Cox)

I get the rage too. Especially at parties where my dc asks for another sandwich and I say "after you've finished that one". Meanwhile child next door takes sandwich, takes one bite off the pointy end, takes another sandwich etc. till they have a massive pile of wasted food on their plate. Doesn't like crusts. .. my arse.

BernardlookImaprostituterobotf · 24/03/2015 21:28

I quite like watching their dear little faces when I serve pizza...cut into rectangular slices.
It really does, very nearly, negate crust rage.

I am a bastard though.
No fuckin' pointy bit on that is there you little monkey? Of course if they applied themselves they would find there are two, smaller, good pointy bits but surprisingly given the number of smarty pantses this has hitherto not been discovered. Defeat is my favourite flavour of pizza.

SlightlyJaded · 24/03/2015 21:59

Bernard. Will you marry me?

AnnieMoor · 24/03/2015 22:29

I never eat the crusts of anything. I can't be bothered with them.

My children eat my crusts.

willbillycome · 24/03/2015 23:01

my dd (3) refuses crusts, and so it is all my ds (7months) ever gets. may he never find out there is more to a sandwich.

toffeeboffin · 24/03/2015 23:36

In Quebec people spread butter on the crusts, quite clever really. Keeps the meal low fat too! Biscuit
