mildly Chat used to be an ok and safeish place to hang out and post any musings about not very world shattering stuff but now it's just an extension of AIBU.

Presumably when you are suspended or banned you can't access your PMs, though.

So maybe warnings would have to be sent both by PM and email? (So that when someone is in Derek's position they can still check back)

I agree that the term 'goady fucker' is way overused on here.

I have seen posters called 'goady fucker' and even 'troll' just because their opinions differs from the general consensus of the thread.

'Trust nae fucker' is all the advice you need in life.

I'd like to see clear guidelines on name changing, so people could only do it when they have a specific problem or if they have a longish posting history that they think might out them.

They shouldn't be allowed to name change just to post something that they're worried other people will disagree with, or to start a goady or wind up style thread.

This just adds to suspicion and newbies are often not believed because of this kind of thing.

But all HQ say is 'report'. That's fine but nothing changes, so what's the point?

I think it is time for consistency. Like I said upthread, I got banned for calling a poster smug. She is smug, probably one of the most smug posters on the site. She picked my post out of a very long thread, I had posted hours and hours before hand and the thread had moved on, yet she decided to pick it to pieces and goad the fuck out of me. I had been warned once in over 6 years prior to that.

Some posters get banned for sock puppeting once, some posters get a warning and do it time and time and time again.

Some posters are just bloody vile to all and sundry but it's their opinion and because they don't actually name a poster in their post, they get away with.

The whole "talk guidelines" thing makes no sense.

My PMs are there for limited time. I don't remember deleting them. In fact, I was checking for one that I had from a poster that I absolutely don't get along with. It was a nice PM. I was going to look at it after a particularly tetchy thread to reassure myself that once in a blue moon we can down tools... and it was gone.

Lying, I just checked mine and they go back further than March 2013
