To cringe at these football mums?

Ok, so I watched DS play footy this morning. I very rarely go as I work most Sundays.

Anyway, I was shocked by all alot of the mums watching. They are like a load of fish wives, shouting abuse and cackling. Shouting at the poor ref and the boys. These boys are all 17 & 18 so can be very 'vocal' but omg, those mums Shock I was inwardly cringing at what came out of their mouths!

Better behaved at rugby?? Grin

Checkout Ben Flowers decking an opponent and receiving a six month ban.

Cycling? There's a sport renowned for its integrity and fair play.

I am talking about the behaviour of the spectators, stillclassy. That is what the thread is about.

sickoffrozen

Just shows how pampered kids are now and how parents won't let go

What a ridiculous comment, you clearly know fuck all.

Thank God there are parents who choose to support their children, whatever the age.

^^ this!

I've stood on touch lines, athletic stadiums, in draughty basketball and table tennis halls, around a swimming pool for the last 16 years....ds is at uni now and this is the first year I haven't SUPPORTED him doing some kind of competitive sport. He wanted me and dh to come and support him, if he hadn't I would have dropped him off and left him to it, but you know, some children actually have such a great relationship with their parents that they do things together like this!!
I suggest you keep stupid comments like the above to yourself, you might not want to support your child doing stuff but there are a lot of us who do. And guess what, we aren't yobs or thugs even.....imagine that!!!!

Sickoffrozen · 26/03/2015 07:44

Jesus what a touchy lot you are!

Maybe it's different parts of the uk because certainly where I was brought up there was never a mum in sight!

ladymariner · 26/03/2015 08:09

Oh yeah, you call our kids pampered and say that we are unable to let them go but then when we retaliate we're touchy.....Hmm

Horsemad · 26/03/2015 08:39

Sickof - perhaps where you were brought up parents were spectacularly unsupportive?

ChillySundays · 26/03/2015 21:38

My DS didn't play rugby competitively so I don't know how parents are but I remember going to watch a premiership rugby match. I could hear supporters talking behind and kept thinking are they watching the same match. When I looked round they were opposition supporters which is why it didn't make sense.

Don't have supporters of both teams sitting together at a premiership football match

Madmum24 · 26/03/2015 22:36

I used to take mine riding and one of the Mums used to film the whole lesson. I assumed she was just over enthusiastic until she told me that she does it so she can point out her daughters mistakes. She was 6! I find most organized sport depressing due to the pressure on children to perform, over zealous parents shouting expletives from the side lines just ruins it.
