AIBU to remove Dd from this nursery?

Dd is 3 and has been attending nursery 2 mornings a week for 3 months.
Nursery opens at 8.30am and morning session finishes at 12pm.

Since starting, nursery has suggested that dd come in at 10am while she settles in. This seemed like a good idea but despite me questioning it after 3 months they still want to keep it the same. This would not be too bad but literally every single session that she has attended, they have called me between 45-75 minutes later to collect her saying that she is tired.

To clarify, she never cries when going in and when I collect her after an hour she seems totally fine and happy and not at all tired.

I have asked on the last 4 sessions if they feel that she is not settling in but they say 'no. She is doing fine' and yet they want to stay with this hour long arrangement.

I am effectively paying 7 hrs for 2 hrs childcare.

AIBU to remove her?

what are you going to do today op?
Good luck!

You need this sorted. Why on earth are you paying for 7 hours care and getting 2 hours. Just take her in at 8.30 or just pay for the two hours. Dont like the sound of this nursey id be tempted to take her out and send invoice for un used hours (i know you cant but wouldnt you like to). X

Is there not a local free school nursery she can attend?

Tanith · 23/03/2015 13:03

Showtunesgirl, they're entitled to keep the deposit because it's used to secure the place for your child. The nursery has turned away other parents in order to offer you that place and the deposit is normally non-refundable.

It's a completely different situation from the OP.

showtunesgirl · 23/03/2015 15:12

I never said that my situation was similar to the OP's, only to say that the management was also not great.

The deposit was declared to be refundable upon my child leaving the nursery.

This is bizarre. They are totally taking you for a fool because they know you are at home and "able" to pick her up, a working parent could never stand for this, so I'm sure they can't do it with all their customers. In my experience there was a free one week settling in period and after that it was full time hours unless ill! You need to have this out with them. If I was in your position I'd be so pissed off at them I'd be better taking LO somewhere else I was happier with but you still need to have your say just so they don't think you're a total mug.

Just interested to to know what happened?

I think they are taking the mickey and praying on your good nature. Most likely something to do with ratio's. Personally I'd not hear the phone next time it goes and also start taking her in at the normal start time.

straighttothepoint · 11/04/2015 09:20

I agree, start dropping her off at normal time and ignoring the phone. They must have a second number to contact someone if it is a real emergency.
