To think if you are chasing an escaped serial killer you should dress appropriately?

I am watching The Following. I am loving it though it's giving me major trust issues.

But, wearing a suit to chase down a serial killer.

Most cop shows are the same. Surely an Adidas tracksuit and some Reebok Classics are more suitable?

Classics due to the thick soles, they grip to anything!

A lot of running, diving, jumping and getting shot at which must be hard in a suit and tie. Also with the shoes, he must go throw so many pairs due to wearing them down.

He's currently trying to take a shit at a helicopter but the tie keeps blowing in his face. It just isn't practical

YABU if you have got past episode 3 of that weird-fest TBH, BUT I did think the same thing about female detective in four inch heeled boots in some show the other day.

All cops and killers should wear boiler suits maybe? Colour coded somehow.

WombleGravy · 19/03/2015 23:53

NOT Adidas and Reebok (Unless set in Mancs or Leeds Wink )

FuckItBucket · 19/03/2015 23:54

Take a shot! A fucking shot!

Grin
FuckItBucket · 19/03/2015 23:57

A tie wouldn't be practical for that either! Grin

Thank you for not leaving my thread unanswered. Nice to see someone cares too Grin

Or Unitards and ballet shoes. That would suit psycho guy. He used to live with Sarah Parish, I think

FuckItBucket · 19/03/2015 23:58

It would be super quiet too so you wouldn't hear footsteps.

Good thinking.

Lweji · 20/03/2015 00:00

Just be glad they aren't in 10 inch heels.

(watched Charlie's Angels the other day)

prawnballs · 20/03/2015 00:09

Its not the same without Joe - love him Blush

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 20/03/2015 00:11

Hmm yeah why do detectives wear suits? Confused They should be dressed like Woody from Toy Story. But with trainers.

FuckItBucket · 20/03/2015 00:20

Ssh in on the first series. I love Joe! I always end up with a soft spot for the serial killers though.

It got a second series? Shock

How is there a second series in that concept?

SanityClause · 20/03/2015 00:22

A bow tie would be more practical, really.

FuckItBucket · 20/03/2015 00:23

There's 3 I think. I love it though Mr Bacons face annoys me

Joes doesn't annoy me - swoon

emotionsecho · 20/03/2015 01:34

Could this be a design opportunity 'clothes and footwear for serial killer chasing', sounds like a winner to me!

Did you see James Purefoy in Rome prawnballs?

Oldsu · 20/03/2015 01:51

Not as bad as CSI Miami where the female CSIs wear tight white trousers low cut tops and high heels at a crime scene - I'm looking at YOU Ms Boa Vista.

Nicknacky · 20/03/2015 01:55

Whoops, I'm a detective that wears a suit and heels lol. Thankfully I can't remember the last time I had to run at work #iwanttocatchaserielkiller.

yourlovealoneisnotenough · 20/03/2015 02:01

I thought this would be about Gillian Anderson's silk blouses and was gearing up to jump in and defend her and her blouses with everything I've got.

Vera dresses quite appropriately for chasing killers, hat, coat, sensible shoes.

And I've been rewatching Wire in the Blood recently and Hermione Norris wears casual running-style shoes with her suits. The other characters on that wear jeans and hoodies generally too.

ComposHatComesBack · 20/03/2015 02:04

I always find it hilarious that plain clothes coppers are dead easy to spot when they think they're incognito.

The stiff legged copper's walk gives them away, as do the shoes, they're often very shiny. Also, when you see them in a car it is a dead giveaway. When else do you see two blokes in suits sat together in a parked car?

Nicknacky · 20/03/2015 02:11

CID don't try to be incognito, but our crime teams are. Some of them look more like Ned's than the Ned's do.

But I aspire to work in an environment where I can dress like Gillian Anderson, I would get ripped into if I went into work with a pencil skirt and silk blouse!

emotionsecho · 20/03/2015 02:13

I also find it amusing when TV detectives are staking somewhere out they do so in a brand new van festooned with aerials that looks completely out of place where it is parked and then just to make absolutely sure they are obviously police they hop in and out of the back of the van at regular intervals.

KingJoffreyFanciesDarylDixon · 20/03/2015 02:21

Used to wind me up when Buffy would dress in kitten heels and flimsy blouses to go to fight vampires.

Hmm

She had all of those weapons at her disposal but not a single pair of DMs...

KingJoffreyFanciesDarylDixon · 20/03/2015 02:23

And why was Kevin Spacey wearing a wet suit in The Negotiator?

Was that really the best outfit he had to negotiate in??

Has been bugging me for years...
