To think if you are chasing an escaped serial killer you should dress appropriately?

I am watching The Following. I am loving it though it's giving me major trust issues.

But, wearing a suit to chase down a serial killer.

Most cop shows are the same. Surely an Adidas tracksuit and some Reebok Classics are more suitable?

Classics due to the thick soles, they grip to anything!

A lot of running, diving, jumping and getting shot at which must be hard in a suit and tie. Also with the shoes, he must go throw so many pairs due to wearing them down.

He's currently trying to take a shit at a helicopter but the tie keeps blowing in his face. It just isn't practical

I haven't seen Rome yet emotionsecho but get a little excited every time I see David guettas dangerous vid Grin

Dawndonnaagain · 20/03/2015 08:50

I miss The Following!

MoreBeta · 20/03/2015 08:56

The plain clothes police that stake out our local drug dealing haunt (i.e. outside our front gate) always wear a suit and tie and smart shoes whilst sitting on the wall complaining to their police mates about work related issues on their mobiles.

Its not obvious they are police officers pretending to be office workers under cover really. Grin

butterfly2015 · 20/03/2015 09:19

While we're at.it, why do they shout police stop, when they are about 20ft.away giving the suspect time to run up an alley before getting caught trying to climb over a fence?

ComposHatComesBack · 20/03/2015 09:40

On a related note has anyone in real life yelled 'stop thief' in real life and whom are they addressing?

Is it to other members of the public '(s)he's just robbed me, please apprehend them'

or to the thief themselves...

'please Mr/Ms thief stop running away'

Lweji · 20/03/2015 09:41

King
kitten heels could be used as stakes against the vampires. DMs not so much.

Hoppinggreen · 20/03/2015 10:03

I'm sorry but I am still laughing too much at somebody " taking a shit at a helicopter" to add anything useful at this point.

stripytees · 20/03/2015 10:05

Silent Witness always has Dr Alexander in sky high heels running around. Why can't she wear Converse or something practical like that? Would totally go with her style of skinny jeans and nice tops too.

TheOriginalWinkly · 20/03/2015 10:07

When we were very new police, my mate yelled "police, stop!" at a man running from 20 yards away, and he actually stopped. I nearly keeled over in shock.

I used to go undercover in fake Uggs, jogging bottoms and a fake fur coat.

Littleturkish · 20/03/2015 10:10

This is why 24>The Following. Jack Baur is the guy you'd want on your side of the bad guys are after you, not Ryan.

RabbitsarenotHares · 20/03/2015 10:10

Am so glad I'm not the only person who gets bothered by this. I was thinking the same thing the other day whilst watching DCI Banks. The high heels were bothering me. Not that there was much running going on, but surely they should be prepared? And for clambering over riverbanks etc.

And why do so many have such stand-out cars? Not helpful when trying to follow criminals incognito, surely?

Lweji · 20/03/2015 10:11

Is there a fashion police department to make sure undercover cops blend in with the crowd they are supposed to?
Do they also make jokes about what are the latest trends among criminals?

Hoppinggreen · 20/03/2015 10:25

Well Crockett and Tubbs managed very well in espadrilles!!!

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 20/03/2015 10:33

It's a while since I last watched it, but I'm pretty sure Cagney and Lacey didn't clomp around in ridiculously high heels.

FuckItBucket · 20/03/2015 11:14

It did annoy as maybe he could have taken a better SHOT if it was for the tie.

Or at least do casual Friday's or something

I love The Following, I'm so pleased it's back for series 3. (Joe will be in it don't worry)

I love KB, he's forever running off with his dodgy ticker into a creepy house full of people wanting to kill him, he doesn't bat an eyelid.
If I were him I'd have had a nervous break down by now every time I had to open a door or walk around a corner etc, I'd have hidden in a large cave somewhere and become a recluse.

TeaOneSugar · 20/03/2015 12:10

Jason Statham and Daniel Craig must wear sharp suits while fighting bad guys, I don't want to see them in joggers, suits are much sexier.

FuckItBucket · 20/03/2015 12:12

Have to agree with Statham. He was made to kill people while dressed in suits

OP posts:
WombleGravy · 20/03/2015 12:25

The Dry cleaning bills must be completely horrendous, though. Joggers are much more practical, laundry-wise.

butterfly2015 · 20/03/2015 16:43

And they could just nip into primark and buy a new pair of joggers rather than washing the blood out.

My mate knows Jason Statham. Pleas for him to be sedated and posted to me have not yet been met.

FuckItBucket · 20/03/2015 20:36

Still running around in a suit. Still not able to do his best because of it.

OP posts:
Lweji · 20/03/2015 20:41

Surely 007's suits/tuxs are supplied by the Q division and are just as practical as jogging bottoms.

iLoveFlop · 20/03/2015 21:08

dawndonnaagain series 3 is back on Sky Atlantic!

It's ridiculous and implausible, but I do love Joe it

prawnballs · 20/03/2015 21:25

ILoveFlop I haven't seen Joe in it yet grrrr - can you tell I'm a tad obsessed in lust with him.

MoreBeta · 20/03/2015 21:36

Jack Regan in the The Sweeney used to wear sports jackets and stack heel boots. I was a child in the 1970s and used to wear similar to school.

Running was not easy when playing cops and robbers in high heels even for a 7 year old boy.
