to not stop hanging my bras on the line

I'm in shock.

Beautiful day here. Was hanging out my washing and having a chat with next door neighbour who was out in the garden with her dd.

I pegged out 2 of my bras among everything else. Conversation was drawing to an end so I made to go back inside when she said 'oh I've been meaning to mention your underwear'

She went on to ask me refrain from hanging out my bras, her husband found them 'distracting'. I sort of when 'eh um eh' and she said 'well, cheerio, nice chatting' leaving me in the garden, puzzled.

I am an f cup but surely my bras aren't distracting. Her husband isn't in during the day. Wtf? They are similar in age to me, early 30s. Always been civil in the last 3 years they've lived next door, friendly but nit in and out of each other's houses or anything.

They are just normal bras!

Crikey, how does she manage to get through M&S with him....I'm imagining it turning into a Father Ted episode.

YouBetterWerk · 19/03/2015 14:36

starts chanting
'BRA BUNTING, BRA BUNTING, BRA BUNTING, BRA BUNTING, BRA BUNTING!'

BigRedBall · 19/03/2015 14:40

I'd sew some tassles and Pom-poms onto them all before hanging them out next time for extra swinging distraction. Maybe buy a merkin and hang that out too.

ScotsWhaHae · 19/03/2015 14:43
Grin

I'm in stitches over these suggestions.

I thought that they were pretty normal too.

Washing goes out on the line which runs the length of the garden, in full view.

They never hang washing out now that I think about it.

Wow. Either he is a fucking perv, or his wife is unhinged (or both).

YY to buying the perviest underwear you can find to hang out in future. And if she mentions it again, politely tell them to either stop peeping in your garden or put up a 6ft fence Smile

laundryelf · 19/03/2015 14:44

Bra bunting is great idea, also liked Eeekeeks' suggestion.

Does your neighbour have small boobs? Maybe she has boob envy?

slicedfinger · 19/03/2015 14:48

Oh dear I just snorted out loud on a packed train. That has made my day OP. Grin

EeekEeekEeekEeek · 19/03/2015 14:53

I reckon he's said something - er - 'appreciative' - about the size of OP's bras to his wife . . .

YellowTulips · 19/03/2015 14:54

Id be tempted to buy some garden gnomes and make them hats from the bra cups Grin

Littleham · 19/03/2015 14:56

This happened to my mother when she was younger. Elderly neighbours, very difficult & the woman asked my mother not to hang her bras on the line because it distracted him and lowered the tone of the neighbourhood!!!

You would think modern man could cope with bras by now though! Wink

FenellaFellorick · 19/03/2015 14:56

wtf? I'd buy 30 red lacy thongs and hang them all out.

MinceSpy · 19/03/2015 15:00

Maybe we could set a date and all pop round to ScotsWhaHae's and add our bras to her bra bunting display.

OnlyLovers · 19/03/2015 15:00

She's a loon. I came on to say 'Bring out the gimp suit' but clearly lots of other posters are of the same mind. Grin

Arkkorox · 19/03/2015 15:03

I think you should stick a massive pair of Googly eyes on a bra and hang it out facing their house Grin

wanttosqueezeyou · 19/03/2015 15:03

So he walked in one day and said "darling I just can't concentrate in the garden, Scots has got her bras on the line again, would you mind having a word"

I wonder if its affecting his work? He may have had to speak to his line manager/GP. Who knows how deep this goes!!!

BigRedBall · 19/03/2015 15:03

Two words:

Crotchless thong.

Wink
BigRedBall · 19/03/2015 15:05

Yy to googly eyes. Grin

ChiwetelFan · 19/03/2015 15:06

IT'S A PLOT!!!!

She had a look ' thought you were a MN'er like her, you're ignored the nicec ham/Pom Bear/ MN scarf references, and thought.................................. If I say something TOTALLY outrageous she bound to post about it....

She logging on at home gleeful that she was right
And posting AIBU that my neighbour didn't realise I was a kindred spirit

WerewolfBarMitzvah · 19/03/2015 15:06

Bet she just doesn't like washing hanging out for some reason. Strange.
I would do all of things suggested here. Then order some bras - retail therapy to help cope with crazy neighbours - and be out when they are delivered. Trot round to collect from them, all innocent like.
Or become an Ann Summers party person and bring them a catalogue every so often.

FlaviaAlbia · 19/03/2015 15:10

Following on from YellowTulips idea, I would gladly spend some time making bras for garden gnomes ScotsWhaHae so you could put them out in your front garden and face them all towards their house Grin

PeaceOfWildThings · 19/03/2015 15:13

Love the idea of posting an Anne Summers catalogue to him. You could sign him up for them all! Just to distract him from your undies.

Littleham · 19/03/2015 15:17

This should do the trick...

to not stop hanging my bras on the line
ScotsWhaHae · 19/03/2015 15:19

Loving the garden gnomes in bras!

ClumsyNinja · 19/03/2015 15:24

Have you tried offering your neighbour a cream egg yet?

Missrubyring · 19/03/2015 15:28

This has put a definite smile on my face, how strange. Loving the idea of Bra Bunting, I would love to see the look on your neighbour's face if you did that. Keep us posted OP. X
