The builders are in and I'm off work alone at home and very on edge. I think it would make their job easier if I did? I know they can't help denting walls and floors a bit, still I'm on edgeConfused

That's not bad is it?

I think you should talk to the builders about being careful indoors. Please don't open some wine.

Pagwatch · 16/03/2015 08:10

Could you not go out?

ThisFenceIsComfy · 16/03/2015 08:11

8am is a bit way for wine. Are you planning on drinking all day?

kelda · 16/03/2015 08:11

Do you have to stay in? I would go to a local cafe/ library and stay there the day.

Can't wait to see the reactions on this thread........

ThisFenceIsComfy · 16/03/2015 08:11

Early

LaurieFairyCake · 16/03/2015 08:15

Definitely go out. You will feel shit in about 3 hours if you start drinking now.

Coffee shop, browse round some shops - go for a drive - anything.

Alisvolatpropiis · 16/03/2015 08:16

Probably best you go out, really.

Ineedacleaningfairy · 16/03/2015 08:18

Yes, go out, don't open wine! 8am is always too early to open wine (unless your putting it in a stew!)

TickleMyTitsTillFriday · 16/03/2015 08:18

Um...yes, its too early. I would go out if I couldn't handle it. Wine at 8 am is never the answer. Wink

Schnullerbacke · 16/03/2015 08:19

Very unreasonable. Why would you want to be drunk or at least tipsy with strangers in your house?

Find something to do that will distract you. Drinking is never the answer!

Jackie0 · 16/03/2015 08:19

Don't do it. You'll feel awful and end up needing to go to bed.
Wouldn't you rather keep your wits about you if there are people in the house?
Go out, go shopping to the library, anywhere.
I'm not sure if your actually being a bit tongue in cheek.
Drinking at 8am to deal with stress isn't healthy behaviour.

LayMeDown · 16/03/2015 08:20

YABU. It's far too early. Please don't start drinking now. If you need alcohol to cope then you have issues you need to think about. I'm not saying your an alcoholic but you may need to consider the fact that you could be self medicating with alcohol.

InfinitySeven · 16/03/2015 08:20

I really wouldn't.

For a start, you'll probably end up feeling terrible. It's also likely to make the builders rather uncomfortable.

Can you go out? Shopping, sit in a coffee shop, visit someone?

If not, find a way to distract yourself. There will be something that doesn't involve alcohol.

sPJPPp · 16/03/2015 08:21

OK thanks, put that idea out of my mind. I'm a bit tired for it actually.

I will stay in a bit longer (seeing as I'm using a days holiday to be here) then head to the coffee shop

Today a bottle of red, tomorrow a 2ltr bottle of frosty jacks

sPJPPp · 16/03/2015 08:23

I don't have a drink problem! I'm just watching TV shows and wine or milk of the poppy seems to be the answer for everything, thought a glass might help me relax.

OP posts:
Thesuperswimmingdolphin · 16/03/2015 08:25

If you need wine to relax then you DO have a drink problem. Use your day off to see your GP and ask for help because to even be semi-seriously contemplating this means you need some assistance with your drinking - and you know that or you wouldn't have asked the question.

Pagwatch · 16/03/2015 08:25

What's that now?

kelda · 16/03/2015 08:26

What are you watching? Game of Thrones?

Jackie0 · 16/03/2015 08:26

Milk of the poppy? What's that?

kelda · 16/03/2015 08:28

Opium. Definitly not a good idea at 8am.

Go for a cappuchino and try and enjoy some of your day off with a bit of fresh air.

Pagwatch · 16/03/2015 08:29

Milk of the poppy is opium/heroin.

Yes, often touted as the answer to everything. No, really. Often.

sPJPPp · 16/03/2015 08:30

Yes got, I'd guess its something with opium in, but that's not an option unless my waitrose poppy seed crackers are a dodgy batch

Pagwatch · 16/03/2015 08:31

Grin at Game of Thrones.
